My wife and I hired Home Depot to provide an install carpet for our bedrooms. Right off the bat there were red flags. Although they sell carpet, pad and installation they will tell you the pad has to be picked up at the store for an extra $75. Haggle and that will be removed. Now the install: The morning of the install the sub contractor called with a window for install. Two hours before that the installer called from my house looking for me to start the work. I was not home, when I finally arrived, an hour before the time the installer was upset until I showed him the email from the sub that listed the times! The crew was quick and behaved well. Shortly after they left we noticed a 4' long line across the carpet. This room has no seams and it looked to me like a cut mark on the new carpet. Installers were notified. After waiting a week with no response I followed up and was told it would be at least another week before the replacement could even be ordered because the mill hadn't responded because the paperwork was sent to a home deport email for someone who was no longer there. Called Home Depot HQ for assistance and the carpet was ordered. Fast forward another week (3 weeks from first install). The installers came to remove the damaged carpet. They dragged the roll down our stairs removing paint from the edge of multiple stairs. My wife noted this on the paperwork and emailed photos to the install supervisor. Another five days with no response. I contacted Home Depot who then had the installers contact me. The install GM was awful. Instantly defensive about my "accusations" he then claimed his guy fell down the stairs, I asked why no one was notified of this and he had no answer. The call continued with an abrasive, belligerent, defensive manger that could provide no info on how my stairs would b e fixed. He could not provide any insurance info for his sub that supposedly fell, he could not provide any home improvement contractor registration info. So here we are many weeks later and Home Depot has not provided any response, calls are no longer returned and my stairs are still damaged. Unless you like managing multiple layers of subcontractors and dealing with weeks of hassle I would not recommend them for any install services. Home Depot take zero ownership of the services you purchase from them and pushes everything to their subcontractors, who then use additional subcontractors. Good luck!
