The contractor did notify me the night prior to performing the job. As promised, he delivered the materials and performed the work without a down payment. I was ecstatic, especially after having been defrauded by another contractor a year ago. Anyway, the job took an entire day, but the crew worked very hard. Quality Corning tiles were used, and the final product looked very good. I was pleased. I paid for the roof job that day, and expected a receipt, which I did not receive. It did take some time for the contractor to get back to me after the initial contract. Although I wasn't in a rush, I thought he had forgotten about me. I would like to have spoken with the owner (Jay) during the job, but he did not contact me. I learned afterward that he had stopped by...presumably to check the quality of the work, but he did not notify me. I don't know if he was pleased or not, and he didn't ask me if I liked the job. I'm still a bit disappointed by this. Later I asked for a receipt, and he said that he'd like me to use my canceled check as a receipt until the other task (siding) is completed. I did remind him (all this was by email) that no agency accepts canceled checks as receipts. Needless to say, I was disappointed that he refused to give me a receipt. When a good, well-paying customer asks for a receipt, it is always good business practice to provide it. After the work was completed, I noticed what appeared to be an anomaly on the garage side of my roof, so I decided to contact Ryson to take a look at it. I also saw a couple of protrusions in the siding. Instead of sending a technician to check the problems, Ryson immediately denied culpability, and tried to resolve the problem by having me send photos. This process took several emails and phone calls to achieve. After I sent the photos, they told me that they couldn't see anything. So, that's when I hired and home inspection company. Although it turns out that Ryson was not responsible for the irregularity in the garage roof, I certainly expected them to send someone to assess the matter. The home inspection did, however, reveal two areas where the gutter drip lip was improperly installed, thereby damaging the shingles in two areas. After I submitted information and photos from the home inspection, Ryson finally sent a project manager to assess my complaints. However, this person did not bring a ladder, so I had to show him the photos from the home inspection. The project manager noted that the small protrusions in the siding were due to structural flaws of the home itself. In addition, Ryson determined that the gutter contractor was responsible for the shingles and drip lip, and that this contractor would have to make the repairs. It took three additional weeks to get the gutter contractor to finally make the repairs. I felt that the timeline was far too protracted. Too, correspondence from the home office was terse and unfriendly. I was shocked. Ryson has a wonderful receptionist, and it was she who assisted me in obtaining resolution to this matter. However, because of the extreme difficulty in obtaining warranty care of their work, I would not use Ryson again.
