Josh seemed nice and knowledgeable. We had wind problems after insulation was installed in attic, so some of it apparently had shifted or blown around. We did not know that for a year and a half. In early spring we were getting bids for some finishing work and asked one of the contractors to look in the attic at our insulation because we were always very cold in the winter. The contractor took pictures of places where the insulation had slid down the vaulted ceiling, and also where there were no baffles. We had to contact our general contractor and then Josh agreed to fix the problem. He did send out a team of guys who used all the insulation they had in their truck and told us everything was fixed. After they left it occurred to me to get out the "temperature gun" to measure the temperature in various places on the ceiling (the attic is not accessible to us so we cannot see what has been done up there.) The temperature was 10 degrees colder at the top of the vault (and since heat rises, it should have been warmer if any difference) than the walls. We talked to Josh who agreed to come back up when he had another job in our area. We told him that we would share in the cost of fixing the problem since the wind damage was not totally his fault (although baffles would have helped and might have prevented the blowing problem.) We told him that we definitely wanted it to be fixed before the winter. Attempts to reach him were unfruitful and as the winter came on, we again fought the cold inside the house. At one point, we had frost - FROST - high on the wall where it met the ceiling despite running our fireplace heater and our geothermal heat pump. We asked a contractor that we trust (Ryan Hartlage) to check the attic and he reported that we are WAY underinsulated all over. He also said, "The last 9 rafters over your kitchen - there's NOTHING up there - nothing but dust!" So learning that we have nothing but a piece of drywall between us and the cold explained a lot about why we are so cold. Needless to say, we don't want Comforter Energy Management anywhere near our home anymore. We are hiring Ryan to fix the problem, costly though it will be, because we trust him to do the job right.
