The dog was really sweet, but he scratched the hardwood hardwood floors during a home inspection we did on 8/21/20.

Well. The dog and owner came in. The dog sniffed around. Found a couple qeustional spots. The owner went over all of this with me.

The buyers, naturally were terrified and nearly backed out of the deal. The sellers ended up getting an airborne test from a reputable company and found no mold. There is a stigma around this company. Everyone I talked to in the field of mold, as well as a handful of other Real Estate professionals had the same adverse reaction to this company. There are plenty of other great companies out there. Save your time and your money and look elsewear.

The company had performed an inspection on my home for a potential buyer, discovering mold in several areas. (Fortunately, none of it turned out to be black mold). I called the owner, Brian, as soon as I was aware of the issue. Despite the quote saying it would be 9 days before they could take on the job, they were able to fit me into their schedule that same afternoon. They arrived at my home around 12:30 PM, finishing around 5:30. Brian and his entire crew were very professional and went about their job very quickly. When the job was completed, they provided a certificate of performance, and the job is covered under a one year warranty. After the fact, I had to call with several questions and Brian answered them all quickly and helpfully. I hope you never need their services, but if you do, I believe these are the people you want to use.

The buyers of our home used Dog Gone Mold during their home inspection. We laughed thinking our newer home (built in 2007) would be mold free. We laughed until Brian and his K9 companion found mold in our finished basement. There was a main water shut off that dripped at some point causing a small amount of black mold. I decided to use Dog Gone Mold to clean up the mold they found so the buyers were happy. I called Brian and instead of trying to sell me everything under the sun he actually told me how to do the job myself to save money since it was a small project. When I told him i would like to just have him do it he quoted me a fair price and said he could get it fixed quick. Brian came over personally to oversee the project and his workers were very fast and left absolutely no mess at all when they got done. We liked Dog Gone Mold so much that we've already signed up to have them inspect our new house. As a seller I am glad he found mold because we have an infant daughter who i wouldn't want breathing any of the mold. I recommend everyone buying a house give him call and see what he and his K9 can do!

We had a contract to sell our house. The buyers hired Dog Gone Mold to inspect for mold. In their report, Dog Gone Mold identified mold in three areas of the house. The report said there was visible fungi growth on floor joists and stair stringers, that there was visible fungi growth on insulation in the sump closet, and that there was visible fungi growth on attic rafters and decking. The company did not take any samples to determine whether there was any indication of active mold growth in the home. They did, however, conveniently provide a proposal to clean up the existing mold for $1760. Based at least in part on the fear caused by this report, the buyers backed out of the contract. The general inspector used by the buyers indicated that the two places where mold appeared on wood looked like common "lumber yard mold" but was unsure about the mold in the sump closet.
We hired a second licensed mold contractor to provide a second opinion and competing bid (Terra Environmental Services, LLC). Based on their initial visible inspection, they confirmed that the two areas on wood were common lumber yard mold, which will be found on any lumber exposed to the weather, either in the lumber yard or on the job site prior to construction. Our house is 19 years old, so this mold would be that old. He wasn't sure about the mold in the sump closet and would need to explore further to determine what it was, if there was any source of moisture near that point, and what would be required to remediate. He did not expect it to be significant since the mold had not spread to nearby drywall as he would have expected. He bid $320 to check that spot further, to treat all mold (including the lumber yard mold, although not necessary in his opinion) with fungicide, and to take two samples to be tested by a professional lab. (Most of the cost was actually for the scientific tests.)
When he completed this work, he found that what had been identified as mold by Dog Gone Mold was actually cob webs. From their report: "The air samples were submitted to American Mold Laboratories, a certified, independent laboratory, for analysis. Analysis of the air samples showed airborne mold levels to be very low and the particulate count also low with no excessive
moisture found in the home during this visit. These results are desirable in a property and indicate that no corrective action, with regard to mold, is needed at this time."
I'm sure that Dog Gone Mold received fair compensation from the buyers for their testing and would very much have liked for us to have felt pressured to pay $1760 for mold remediation that was no necessary. Meanwhile, the buyers were scared away from a home they wanted to buy and we are left still trying to sell our house and having had to unnecessarily spend $320.

"Isn’t it interesting that the people who hired us have given us A’s the people who didn’t hire us and are mad that we pointed out a problem with their house gave us an F. Hmmmm. First off we have never done any work for this person so I don’t know why this man is even allowed to evaluate us, this site is supposed to be for consumer feedback not a place for someone to try and kill the messenger. We did do a mold inspection for someone who chose to not buy the house at 14621 Hayes St. in Overland Park, KS. I can only assume this is the subject property. We identified & photographed fungi growth in several locations and it seems most of our findings were confirmed by the other inspector. The photographs we took prove that we did not point out cob webs. Please. The fact that this man ordered air samples to test our findings simply shows the level of his ignorance regarding molds. Probably the worst toxic mold out there is Stachybotrys Chartarum, what most people call Black Mold, it rarely shows up in air samples due to the fact that the spores are heavy and generally stay in the water source unless disturbed or are drying out. That is one of the reasons that The EPA has no guidelines for air samples. EPA Guidelines are based on visible fungi growth. This guy is mad that we pointed out to a potential buyer some things about his home that were simply material facts. He really shouldn’t be mad at us as we didn’t bring any mold with us, we simply pointed out what was there. Mold can cause some serious health issues I think that buyers have a right to know what they are buying. If someone is willing to sell a house with no regard for the buyers health it doesn’t speak well of them. I am very disappointed that Angie’s List allows this. Angie’s List calls me every month trying to sell some type of advertising medium or marketing program. I wish they would instead spend time vetting the feedback like they are supposed to be doing. This site is supposed to be for someone who has done business or attempted to do business with a firm not a place for venting by someone who has an ax to grind. It seems what I thought was a great consumer service has turned out to be a marketing company masquerading as a consumer service. So I have to give Angie’s List an F. The bottom line is if you are buying a house and want a thorough mold inspection call us. If you are selling a house and are trying to hide a mold issue, you better hope that your buyer’s don’t call us. Let the seller beware."

It appears that the work was completed well, and they will come back out if the treatment didn't work. It was done on time in the morning, as we had movers delivering furniture in the afternoon. We appreciated the flexibility of the company doing the job before we moved in. They were good to work with overall.
My only complaint, and maybe I just didn't understand, was that they left the floor boards unattached and just laying on the finished basement floor. I would have thought that after the treatment and with the cost paid, they would have left it all put back together. We still haven't had time to attach it back to the wall as we are unpacking the rest of the main house first.

Screening was done for Buyer so I called the guy he stated
I shouldn't do a AIR TEST because they found MOLD and provided $2900 Bid to professionally mitigated.
I call 3 other Providers and got them to send samples to - independent LAB MOLDetect (Flappan Consulting)
3 providers looked at the areas they claimed to ID it to be inactive Mold and CONSTRUCTION MOLD In the ATTIC
lab findings was accordance to what the 3 providers predicted
Basement had some stuff range of 2 in active old mold and was no growth
Attic sample was Industrial mold and did need to be treated and there was no growth as they claim
carpet strip was rust and the Place they Claimed was OLD termite track 15 yeas or so a go there was some WOOD ROT behind the Sheet rock
I used following companies for 2nd opinion
1. Certified Water and Mold Restoration LLC
2. Midwest Restoration Technologies
3. Extreme Restoration and Remediation LLC
for testing - independent LAB MOLDetect (Flappan Consulting)
since it was reported and the property was for sale I had to TREAT the areas that didn't had GROWTH and I used Extreme Restoration and Remediation LLC
if this DOG comes to your House get 2nd OPINION and get independent TEST done regardless of there FINDING

Brian's tream showed up on time. And did MORE work than what we asked of them, he wanted to be sure the job was done completely/correctly and that I have a chance to feel good. The basement was sealed off around the door. They bagged removed all of the carpeting from the basement. They manually sanded/cleaned all of the beams in the basement. Then used a clear sealant to encapsulate the mold after cleaning. Cut sheetrock at 4' so it'll be easy to replace. They replaced all of our insulation in the basement as some of it was probably contaminated. While all of this is going on they used very high end and quot;Phoenix Guardian Hepaand quot; air scrubbers to ensure anything that does go airborne is captured. I did some reading, and the scrubbers they use are of the best in the industry designed for mold remediation. They're big, but they capture very small particles and move a lot of air.
Also they did all of this while having to move the stuff I couldn't get out of the basement. Very heavy (100+lbs) PA speakers, desks. All of this stuff was moved without any issues.
I also had his wife's cleaning company come in and vacuum the house with water filtering hepa grade vacuums. They vacuumed all of the door frames, windows, blinds. They cleaned everything as best they could (our house was torn apart; literally). So it was difficult to clean the upstairs...
They removed the squirrels nest from the attic (I had no idea they were even going to do this) cleaned the mold off of the siding in the attic.
Then last they fogged the entire house including the attic. And they did all of this with green/organic mold killers. No toxic chemicals, no poisons. This was very important to us as we have a 4mo old baby in the house. He uses a product called and quot;molderizerand quot;, which is very effective when used correctly (as they did). I checked the MSDS on the product and the active ingredient is and quot;hydrogen peroxideand quot; which I found is what they use in medical industry to sanitize surgical rooms/hospital clean rooms using vaporizers (foggers).
---
After remediation I had the air testing company (Flappan consultants; read review on them) come back out and do air sampling. Unfortunately the day they came the HVAC guys had the ductwork torn apart and air was coming in from the attic through the vents of the entire house. This is when I learned air testing for mold is tricky, and VERY small things can toss everything off (like attic air blowing in). Unfortunately we failed the air test in every room. Brian was really concerned and so was the air testing company. We agreed to meet the next business day. Everyone was there on time; and they talked over what might have happened and they went over the entire remediation again. No one could find a fault but the HVAC guys letting attic air into the house. Since the house had been sitting for 3-4 days without attic air infiltrating they ran air tests again... This time we passed in the basement! Lower than the outside air, and that says a lot since it's almost winter and mold counts are low.
If you're looking for an honest, *caring*, hard working company who's prices wont leave you broke. Dog Gone Mold is the place to call. Brian really knows his stuff and loves to share his knowledge. They did great work and they stand behind it!

Brian and Mason discovered mold in the basement of the 50-year-old house we had a contract on. We contacted Brian to do the work of tearing out old paneling and ceiling tiles in the basement. The team did the work promptly,. They took out all the problem wood and tile, cleaned the mess up. There is a one year guarantee on the work and we are happy with the results. Mason is one smart puppy :)

Brian came to inspect the house we were hoping to buy. The house is 113 years old and I had some concerns about the possibility of mold. Brian showed up right on time and took Mason through. When he was done, he showed me some small areas that would need attention, but he assured me it was nothing I couldn't handle myself with some vinegar and a rag.
In the process of moving a gas line several weeks later, I discovered mold in the sheetrock behind a work area in the kitchen. I called Brian in a panic, and he was out to my home within three hours. He looked at the area and confirmed that it was mold but was not active. Then he showed me where the source of the water had been and confirmed that it was not longer a problem. He gave me directions for cleaning the mold and repairing the area. He checked around the area to make sure there was nothing else and apologized profusely for missing it the first time around. (The mold was in the upper half of the wall rather than down near the baseboards as is usual, so it was hard for Mason to detect.)
Having lived in two homes with mold problems, I am deathly afraid of mold and know how it can turn your life upside down. It is great to have found a service provider who is not only prompt and knowlegeable, but is also responsive when things don't go as planned. I have had plenty of experience with providers that are great at the outset and can't be found when problems turn up. we are in the process of preparing our other house for sale and I will definitely be using Brian for that mold inspection as well.

It was a good job. They went above and beyond what they needed to do. The only complaint I have is that there was carpet pad and the old carpet in the furnace room too close to the furnace. I called Brian and he said they did not put the carpet in there.
Response from Dog Gone Mold
"We did NOT leave any old carpet behind. The carpet she is referring to was new carpet & pad still on the spool. We did not move it. It probably has been there since the house was built. She realized later that this was not something that we left behind."

Dog Gone Mold did a fantastic job of checking inside and outside for mold problems and causes. Mason the mold dog was a real professional and his nose was key to the whole process. They found a few minor issues and told us what we could do to eliminate them on our own. I would recommend them to friends and family.

Brian first came over on a Friday to take a look at my basement to a**** the mold condiation and what could be done to clean it up and prevent any more in the future. After looking around and taking pictures we agreed upon a price and a date for the work to be done. Brian and his team showed up promptly at 9AM on the date the work was going to be completed. They worked constantly and diligently while they were at my home and were very professional. They completed the job in a very acceptable time frame and did a great job. My basement fells like new and I'm extremely happy with the job that was done.

Obvious mold was growing in my garage because of a previous water leak and subsequent faulty restoration. 2 times the problem was supposedly fixed by a reputable company only to have mold come back quickly. I am highly allergic to mold have been miserable for several years because of it. Brian, owner of Dog Gone Mold, came highly recommended by both a friend and a physician so I consulted with him. Brian and his adorable, well mannered dog thoroughly examined my entire home both inside and out and detected mold in places I was not aware of. What Brian could not see his dog could smell. Just amazing, and don't worry his dog is not in any danger by sniffing out mold because he doesn't get that close to it. Brian gave me an estimate with a 1 year warranty, other businesses either did not warranty their work at all or did so for 3 months. I hired him on the spot. His team arrived on time, worked efficiently, protected the rest of my home from mold spores that were being stirred up during the clean up process, and handled my stuff with care. I like the fact that Brian was on-site working with his crew. The high tech HEPA filters and equipment he used kept us safe so we did not have to leave the home during the process and the products he used were safe for people and pets. That was important to me too as I have an infant and small pets in the home. Brian is extremely knowledgable in this industry and was very informative when answering all my questions, plus he was easy to contact by phone. I highly recommend Dog Gone Mold because of the thorough, safe and professional treatment I received.

Brian Dillon (owner of Dog Gone Mold) is an expert and does great work. I had him work on my personal home. That went so well that soon thereafter I hired him to do mold detection and remediation on a second home which I manage (in my occupation as a property manager). Brian has all the appropriate training and credentials, and knows where mold hides, how to find it, how to kill it in the most cost-effective manner, and with the least use of any potentially toxic chemicals. He's also so level headed, experienced, and customer focused that he knows how to stop the mold from ever growing back in the least destructive way, without recommending unnecessary expenditures on invasive or destructive testing and removal of materials that is not absolutely necessary. I'm told that his new partner, and quot;Masonand quot; the highly trained Mold Sniffing Dog, is his secret weapon in this regard. Mason can help Dog Gone Mold quickly and effectively find mold behind sheetrock and similar hidden areas, that do not exhibit any visual signs yet, thus enabling Brian and his staff to find mold that other firms would miss, and detect or confirm it's presence in many places WITHOUT poking holes or tearing walls open to test. My guess is that a building owner will save money on repair or refinishing the room After the mold remediation is gone, because of this less-invasive, more effective detection technique (i.e. the dog's nose, which is something like 10,000 times as sensitive as a human's, and this dog is highly trained Just to Focus on Mold.) Anyway, Brian's firm's prices are in line with his competitors already, in my experience. Not the cheapest, but fair, and worth every penny. And hey, given mold's propensity to Come Back, this is not a service where you want to choose based on the lowest cost provider.
My two experiences using Brian Dillon's firm have been very positive in every regard. I can recommend him and Dog Gone Mold very highly, without reservation.
