+ -1 moreI made a call to the office to schedule an appointment for one of their estimators to come to my house to give me a quote on leveling the areas on my driveway and walkways on my house. The lady arrived precisely on time (actually ahead of me) and had the quote ready by the time I got out of the car. She was very courteous. I have not used them yet; but, I received a call from the company in November telling me that their season for making the repairs was about to end; but that the quote would be good for a year and that it would be good even if I sold my house. I think these will be very good people to work with.

+ 0 moreThe estimator arrived exactly as scheduled. The work was completed approximately 3 weeks later as they were booked. They arrived when they said they would, completed the work and the cost was exactly as quoted. Very good experience.
Description of Work: We have a blue stone deck around our pool. For some reason an area dropped and was lower than the rest, causing the blue stone to not be level. We wanted the area raised back up and made level with the rest of the deck.

+ -1 moreThe owner arrived at the scheduled time. He was very professional and didn't try to sell me something that wouldn't work.
Description of Work: The owner came to give me a quote to level my patio. He told me that leveling was not really the proper resolution to my problem. He said he could do the job for about $800, but due to subsurface settling, it would only last for a few years. He suggested replacing the patio and adding more pea gravel. He gave me the name of a contractor he recommends. When I checked Angie's List for that contractor, I saw that it had an A rating. I have used A-1 in the past with good results on raising some concrete steps by the front porch and that job was done properly. I appreciate A-1's honesty.

Description of Work: We had them level part of our driveway on 9/03/2009. Part of it started sinking again. We called and they came out and re-leveled the affected area.

He came out quickly when called and did a thorough inspection before telling us that he would do the work but recommended that we wait until we fixed a much larger problem with the drainage around our house that was making the floor sink. He showed us the areas of concern which we then undertook efforts to correct. Months later, when the project was complete, A-1 came in and did the work promised. This company saved us many future headaches and $ by his knowledge and honesty!! We appreciate the work he did and advice he gave!

+ 0 moreDeposit paid on 4-10-12 of $1,200 Work performed on 5-13,14,15-12. Work was good and does appear to now have stabalized the porch and steps. The know their job. I am unhappy with how they returned dirt to hole. Instead of using water to melt the clay back in the hole, they filled in and attempted to pack. This left mounds of clay about a foot high. He said it would settle. The only thing that settle was the drain tile connected to the downspout? I called for help and I don't recall receiving response other than I will check it out as soon as i can. 5 months later the mounds are still not settled in and I have watered them a lot. They have still not recommended my downspout
Description of Work: 1. Level two concrete steps. 2. Jacked the corner of my porch about 3 to 5 inches.

+ -1 moreI am a rehabber and have used them several times for house projects where the sidewalk is uneven. Many of the homes we work on are of an age where the sidewalk has settled and it always shows up on the home inspection. I have learned to get it fixed before I try to sell the home. A-1 Concerete Levelling is great to work wth. They are quick to provide an estimate and I don't think I have ever had to wait very long to get the work done. The last couple of times I was not even onsite when they did the work and they are professional enough that it was not a problem. Highly recommend them!

+ 0 moreRon came out for the estimate, showing us that we didn't need a pier system but rather some mudfill to level the porch. Set the work date for about a month later due to schedule conflicts but they could have done the work about 2 weeks later. They drilled, filled and patched and were done in about an hour and a half. Two year guarantee on the work.
Description of Work: Our front porch was sinking. A1 Concrete came out and drilled holes to backfill/mudfill to bring it back to level. They were prompt and professional. They answered all my questions and we discussed prevention and possible additional repairs needed. I still need to resurface for cosmetic reasons.

+ -1 moreThe sidewalk had settled approximately 3 inches below the driveway. In addition, the steps leading to the porch had settled and pulled away from the porch. A-1 not only assessed and extimated the work, but also gave me a lot of information on how to prevent future concrete and foundation issues. The work was done a week later. The workers were very courteous and professional. All the work was completed and the area cleaned up in about an hour. The sidewalk looks terrific!

They were careful to clean up in the living room where the leveling took place. On the driveway, they did an excellent job. They leveled it most of the way, but had to wait for Metzinger Construction to reconcrete the garage so they could finish leveling driveway without it being higher than garage floor would be. Cost was as shown on estimate. Crew was courteous and professional. It was a pleasure to work with them.

Description of Work: Our large front steps had fallen approximately 8-10 inches. A-1 gave us an estimate to repair which was far below the cost of replacing. He was very honest in stating this would not be a permanent fix, but should last for several years. A-1 would drill holes in the existing concrete and insert a substance that would raise the steps to the correct level with the porch.

I had heard horror stories of homeowners spending tens of thousands for foundation repair systems that didn't work. This experience was the exact opposite, and I'd recommend this company to others seeking honest advice and top-notch professionalism in a foundation repair or concrete leveling contractor.
Description of Work: I had noticed a small crack running around my home's cinder-block basement walls. To me, this was an indication of a potentially costly foundation repair. Wanting a professional's opinion, I called A-1 based on the positive nature of all the other reviews I had read here on Angie's List. The office manager set an appointment for an estimate and on the estimate date, Ron Bowen, the president/owner, showed up right on time and inspected the crack. He looked at both the inside and outside foundation areas, pointing out issues I had with the drainage and grade of soil surrounding the foundation. In the end, he acknowledged that there was a foundation issue due to hydrostatic pressure, but it was a small one that could be stymied or corrected by making relatively inexpensive adjustments to the downspouts, soil and grade to help improve the drainage around the house. The best part of this whole experience was Ron's honest and assessment and advice during the free estimate - no sales pressure, no scare tactics and genuine empathy about the concerns I had about the foundation.

+ -1 moreSeveral years ago we had our rear garage wall stabilized but the floor was not addressed at the same time. Ron came out and gave us a quote for having the work done. I also appreciated that he asked me to have a plumber check out the plumbing to make sure that there were no undiscovered leaks that were causing the problem (which there weren't). The A-1 workers showed up and were very courteous. They explained what they would be doing and did their work efficiently. Did a good job cleaning up afterwards too. I would hire A-1 again and have already recommended them to a friend.

It created a lot of problems for them but they didn’t increase the price; they stuck with the first price. They seemed to know what they were doing. They got in, got it done, and got out.
Description of Work: We used A-1 Concrete Leveling last fall in early November. It cost $7200 and we got a 10% discount because we used Angie’s List. It was actually an $8000 job.
