I purchased a used car from Patton for my daughter. It came with a limited 60-day warranty - with specific coverages and a $500 maximum pay out. After about 30 days, the car could not be driven; I had it towed to Patton. It took 6 days for someone to call/return calls to say that the car had initially been looked at. Although the car's computer indicated that the problem was with the transmission, no one at Patton seemed to be willing to work on the transmission, so they made other repairs. They supposedly "fixed" the car 3 separate times, but it never ended up in any better condition than before the "fix". Another infuriating thing was that the car was obviously sitting, not being looked at for more than just the first 5 days it was there, as the 3 unsuccessful repairs took 4 weeks. This was 4 weeks that we were without a car. Also, during this 4 weeks, there were many calls made to Patton that were not returned, and very few calls received from them. It was obvious that we were being avoided. At the end of that time, I was told that none of the repairs would be covered under the warranty, but that he would only charge 1/2 price for labor, meaning $40/hr. With that, the bill was a little over $600. Also during that last conversation with Dan (the owner), he said the car was running, but should have one more thing done to it. We agreed they were to make one more repair and the car was going to be ready in 2 days. My daughter and I were on the way to get the car; she called and was told it would not be ready!! No one bothered to call us, AGAIN! At this time, the car was TOWED (still not running, how can that be?) to the Mercury dealership in Westfield. The dealership mechanic said the transmission had to be rebuilt or replaced. We chose to have them install a used transmission. The final cost was about $1800.00. That's a pretty hefty repair bill for a car that had been driven about 30 days since its' purchase. The mechanic at the dealership told us that none of the work done by the Patton mechanics could have possibly been more important than the transmission. They additionally said that there were indications someone had already done some work on the transmission - so perhaps it was known that the car had transmission issues. When Dan left the car at the dealership, he told my daughter that he had $600 invested in this repair and he was done! HE was aggrivated and didn't want to deal with it any longer!!! All this time, it was HIS employees that had been completely unable to repair the car. He should have been extremely apologetic, but he wasn't at all. His only concession was that we didn't have to pay any of the charges from Patton. It's my opinion that the money he spent on unnecessary repairs made by his incompetent staff should not have been charged to me or applied to the maximum warranty pay out, and Patton should have paid the first $500 of the necessary repair of the transmission - at a minimum! We'd only had the car for 30 days. The transmission was definitely covered by the warranty. Needless to say, I am extremely unhappy with both the car we purchased and the subsequent repairs. I will NEVER return to this business for anything!

His name is Dan Lyons. I had them do some work for me previously. They are technically based in Sheridan, Indiana which is close. The price was good. They were responsive, punctual, and professional.

WE AGREED TO BUY THE CAR PREDICATED UPON THEIR FIXING THE AIR CONDITIONER. DAN SAID THAT WAS NO PROBLEM AND IF THE AIR CONDITIONER NEEDED FIXED BRING IT IN. THE AIR STOPPED WORKING. THEY ATTEMPTED TO FIX IT SEVERAL TIMES AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK. WHENEVER I HAVE CALLED THEM THEY ARE SLOW TO RETURN MY PHONE CALLS. THE COMPRESSOR IS STILL BAD.

"WE HAVE A PRE-SALE INSPECTION THAT SHOWS THE A/C COOLING TO –25 DEGREES. I HAVE HAD THE A/C REPAIRED TWICE AT NO CHARGE TO OUR CUSTOMER ON 5/10 AND 6/10. I HAVE PROVIDED ANGIE'S LIST A COPY OF OUR WARRANTY. IT COVERS PARTS OF THE ENGINES AND TRANS. WHEN DOES THE CUSTOMERS OWNERSHIP AND RESPONSIBILITY TO MAINTAIN THE CAR BEGIN AND OURS END? I FEEL THIS IS THEIR ISSUE TO FIX. WE HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED WHEN THEY BOUGHT IT, WE FIXED IT FOR FREE 30 DAYS LATER EVEN THOUGH IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER REPAIR. WE PROVIDED AN INSPECTION, A/C REPAIR, A/C GOODWILL WORK AND FREE 6 MONTH WARRANTY. WE WOULD LIKE OUR CUSTOMER TO BE COMPLETELY SATISFIED. HOWEVER, WE HAVE TO SAY NO SOMETIMES. ON THIS ONE, WE HAVE DONE MORE THAN ENOUGH. THANKS, DAN, PATTON AUTOMOTIVE"
