John Mitchell Moving/Two Guys & A Truck

Move went well. Only two issues. Movers were to call when they were on the way. They did not do this and we almost missed them...just happened to pass their truck as we were headed to get lunch. Other issue was they dropped a piece of furniture, which hit a closet door and put a small dent in it. They apologized over and over and I let it go.

The move went very smoothly. The three movers were very professional, polite, and punctual. They took great care with furniture yet moved quickly and packed the trucks efficiently. Came in the morning and took 6 hrs to pack. Two trucks were stored over night at secured facility and brought to new home the next afternoon after we took possession. The unpack took about 4 hours. They moved furniture where I wanted and removed it on a couple of occasions. They hooked up washer/dryer and made sure everything was put back together again as it was. Great service and experience. Would definitely recommend and use again.

Very professional and responsive to our needs. Their contact was very friendly and kinows the moving business so the estimate was fair. We even came in under the estimate. The movers were very respctful of our belongings. They put down runners to protect all the flooring and carpets. They were very helpful about which rooms everything went into and even made sure all funiture (ie bookcases) were placed exactly where we wanted them in the rooms. During all the unpacking we have found no broken items or damaged funiture. The movers had a great attitude the entire day and were actually fun to work with. I would highly recommend them.

They did a good job. They showed up on time. They work the whole time they were day, the didn't take any break and they finished about 30 minutes early.They saved me a little bit of money. Overall they're a pretty good company.

Great. Four men and two trucks showed up on time and did a great job. His estimate (maximum quote) was the lowest of three by a considerable margin and they actually came in about $150 below estimate.

Everything with this company was very professional starting with the scheduling and through the move. The actual movers, Bryant, Tim and Tim, were on time and worked very efficiently. They were friendly, quick and careful. They were sure to place items in the appropriate room and they asked whether there was more they could do. All in all, the service was more than I had hoped for. I am very satisfied and would use them again without hesitation.

Well as we all now, closing dates are not wrote in stone and mine got moved back, so I called them this morning to re-schedule the move back 1 week to 5/31. I was promptly told by the girl that answered the phone - we are sorry, no openings until 6/4. I explained my situation and my conversation with John, but she did not care. Did not even offer to contact John to see what they could work out. Customer Service goes a long way in today's world and I give them an "F" in it and do not recommend this company.

They were very good. They arrived on time and were very professional. The experience was wonderful.

What a great experience! We did our own packing in my own OCD way. But the men they sent to move us were spectacular. Sociable, skilled and focused. From the office staff who were so kind and communicative, to the manager who came by just to check in on the job, the entire team was incredible. Their ages ranged from old to young yet each and every one of them was experienced well beyond our expectation. They treated our belongings like they were their own. They didn't bump walls, toss items or waste time. At the end of the job, they even approached us for a final walk through almost begging, "Are you sure there isn't anything else we can do, rearrange or fix?" They went above and beyond on the clothes dryer. When they unloaded the dryer they found that our dryer cord had a different type of plug than the house required. We ran to the store and got a new dryer cord and they even installed the new dryer cord. Since I have no mechanical skills, this saved me hiring an electrician or handyman. It was 25 years between moves for us, and my next move will be to an oak box, but I could not be happier with the choice we made for a local mover.

Called several movers that were highly rated on Angie's List. John Mitchell was the only company willing to actually come to my home and give a firm fixed cost estimate. The others all wanted to give a 'ballpark' that would be adjusted on moving day... no thanks! They arrived on moving day right when they said they would. They completed the loading in Indy, drove to Ann Arbor, and unloaded there all in one day. The two movers were very polite and professional. I am picky about my furniture (I plan to keep it a long time) and was concerned about it not getting damaged. Seeing how some things were packed did concern me a little but I trusted that they knew what they were doing. All of our items arrived in the same condition they left which is the main goal when moving. The final bill was exactly the same as the quote. I would hire them again.

Mike and TJ arrived 10 minutes early and immediately started moving furniture. They were very careful in handling and moving from one location to the other. My only recommendation is for someone to come out to the move location before and get a better idea how much time it will take. The customer can describe what furniture they have on the phone, but may not be able to identify the problem furniture. For example, it took extra time to get the couch out the front door because of a tough angle.

The moving crew called on moving day to let us know they were arriving. They were a little bit early and ready to go! All of the guys were extremely kind and helpful. There were five of them so we had to move fast to keep them directed. One mistake we made was not having all of our things packed and ready. They loaded all of the big items and then the boxes that were ready . Then, they gathered the other items that were ready. We then went across the street to storage, retrieved a few items and off to the new home. The guys were always pleasant, respectful and dutiful. We did think the price was a tad high. But, not knowing the cost of moving, possible this is standard.

They were very accommodating when I called with a tight deadline. They did what they promised, when they promised it (despite very challenging weather). A very pleasant crew who worked hard. I've used them twice to date, and I would use them again.

Phil and Bill arrived on time and went straight to work. They were very friendly and careful with our things. They made sure to work as fast as possible running to and from the truck! We were very pleased and will hire them again when we move.

The movers arrived on time. They were very personable and listened to our requests. The moving crew was very fast and careful. They crew was done in less time than estimated with all items intact and undamaged. They were happy to move the furniture to the rooms and floors we requested. I would definitely use this company again.

Called several days ahead of time, mentioned Angie's List and was offered the 10% discount and booked the move. They sent 3 movers with a truck, arrived on time, were very professional and congenial, stayed busy and knew what they were doing. Though we did not ask them to come out and give an estimate, the over the phone estimate was right in line with what the move cost.. We were very pleased and would use them again.

For $75, I purchased a Big Deal of $100 toward any move. I wanted a bedroom set moved from one room in my house to another, and I thought that $100 should about do it. When I called to schedule the appointment, I was told there was a $395 minimum, and that I would get $25 off that. Unless I missed something, I didn't see a "minimum charge" in the Big Deal fine print. I will be asking for my money back. I feel the Big Deal was very misleading. Why didn't it just say $25 off of any move? The use of the $100 figure is a meaningless come on. This is the definition of a bait-and-switch, and I'm surprised that Angie's List allowed it. The company said they couldn't afford to come out to my house for such a small job without a minimum charge. I guess I can understand that, but I can't understand why they used the $100 figure in their Big Deal promotion. This was disingenuous. I've used Angie's List many times, and this is the first time I've been disappointed.

Bob made the estimate for me. I thought I had a date to move--turned out I didn't. No problem, no fee. Two weeks later I was ready to go. Joe and James showed up promptly and did a great job. Everything was beautifully packed. They moved incredibly fast and were professional and courteous. Very personable men who made an otherwise very unpleasant experience for me go very smoothly. I'd not hesitate to call them tomorrow!

The individual, Bob, who came out to do the estimate was right on time. He was very professional and polite and seemed to do a thorough job with asking questions about what items were going and which items were staying. I explained my concerns over just needing someone to move my things because I would be moving alone and could not drive a uhaul towing my personal vehicle and that I would be doing all the packing myself. He listened to my concerns and answered all my questions. When it came time for the estimate, I was a little disappointed which is why I gave my overall experience a B as opposed to an A. The price was way more than I expected. I was surprised that Bob understood my concern over the price and explained that the company was a one-truck operation. Meaning one crew would load you up onto a truck only holding your things and they would drive to the destination and un-load. He said because I didn't have that much to move and price was a concern, I should look into some companies that load several households on one truck which are usually cheaper. I was very grateful for him letting me know all this which is why if I ever need their services locally, I would definitely give them a call.

They did a great job. Called a couple of days ahead of time to confirm details of the move and remind me of their arrival time. They arrived exactly on time and did an excellent job with the move. They were professional and took great care with my furniture. My movers were Charles, Gary, and Tim - they were all very personable and did an excellent job. I highly recommend this company and this crew. Great job.

Miscommunication in start time was only oops but not major issue. They were professional and efficient. Both Mike and TJ knew what they were doing and did an outstanding job. I would use this company and request this crew again.

The experience with the crew and estimator was nothing but pleasant, thorough and professional.

The owner came to the house was was pleasant enough. He gave us an estimate that he said would be the top price. The guys that came to the house did not use shrink rap under padding like other movers we have used in the past. As a result several of my items were scratched up including our chest of drawers, dryer face, and our patio furniture. They tried to patch up the scratches with oil, but it just covered up some of the marks. I am not sure if they were trying to fool me with that. They weren't particularly careful as they moved pieces in and out of both houses. They were nice enough guys, but just not as professional as I hoped they would have been. The service was $2000 less than another quote, but I am not sure it was worth it. It was pretty average.

Fabulous experience! Movers were professional, kind and great to work with. They exceeded our expectations. Anytime I hear someone is moving I reccomend this company. It is so stressful to move, but these movers put my mind at ease the day of my move.

While calling movers from Angie's List (the only place I'll check), I was asking for an estimate of charges. Not only did John Mitchell Moving provide the lowest estimate, (approx. $405 using Angie's List Discount Coupon), the actual cost was much less. (approx. $281.00) My Mother-In-Law is living on a VERY low fixed income, and couldn't afford to pay a moving company. Rather than our family doing it ourselves because of work schedules, my oldest son told his Grandmother he was going to pay for movers for a birthday / Mother's Day gift to her. Wanting to keep his costs as low as possible, my other son and I moved most of her boxes ourselves. Had I known the quality, speed of service, and the low final cost, I would have had them move everything! The crew showed up a few minutes early, and other than a slight miscommunication where I had requested being called when they were about 10 - 15 minutes away, so I could be there to meet them at the door - locked security entrances at all doors, (dispatcher did not include this on their paperwork), everything went very smoothly. The two man team worked quickly and efficiently. They were both very friendly, and kept their cool, even when being hassled by the management staff for using the elevators, and going through the lobby areas (the only way to enter / exit the building). They were very careful with all the items being moved, and the off-loading at the new apartment was so rapid and efficient, I was amazed. I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this company to everyone, and if the need arises, they will be the first (and ONLY) company I call.
