My gas dryer stopped working late one afternoon when I was in the middle of doing a large amount of laundry. I immediately called Turner Appliance as I had used them previously. They were able to get a repairman to my house about noon the next day. He determined that the belt on the drum had broken and he quickly and professionally installed a new belt. The price was reasonable and I also used the $10.00 coupon that Turner Appliance had in the Angie's List magazine.
Description of Work: Replaced the belt in my gas dryer.

OK First call they were supposed to have a ice maker on the truck and did not. He had to come back the next day; 1st man checked the dryer but said it was okay. I told owner I was not satisfied and he sent out a more experienced guy who found the problem. They did not charge me for the second service call so I thought it fair.
Description of Work: Replaced ice maker. Cleared dryer vents of lint. Had to take top and front off to do it.

Tech came out, pressed some of the control module buttons, and indicated that module needed to be replaced. I mentioned that 2 years prior, another repair service had come out due to the same issue, and after they cleaned the control module's contacts, it worked fine. Turner dismissed that alternative and said that it would take a new module to resolve the problem. Tech did not even offer to try the contact cleaning for a lesser price. After Turner left, I accessed the module myself and used a can of compressed air to clean the unit. That got the module working again. I've been using the oven - and the existing oven control module - for almost a year now. I feel that I was blown off by Turner for this repair.
Description of Work: *This service was performed in September 2007. I am just now reporting this due to current status.* Called Turner in Sept 2007 to check out electronic oven control module for our 7-yr-old Kenmore dual fuel range. It was not working.

I called the company on a Friday afternoon and they set up an appointment for Saturday afternoon. The repair man called when he was on his way, and was right on time. He was polite and professional, and fixed the washer promptly. Given the age of the machine (25 years) he suggested that we might want to replace it before the drum rusted through. I was very impressed with the entire experience and will definitely call Turner again for appliance repair.
Description of Work: Our 25 year old washer stopped draining water. The service man tightened a belt and checked to make sure the washer was working properly.

I called Turner Appliance on a Sunday, because although I did not need them to come out on the weekend, I wanted to be in the queue for Monday service. They quoted me $225 to replace the rubber phlange, which seemed excessive for a big round piece of rubber, but I have heard that front-loaders are expensive to repair and I needed it fixed right away. They took my information and said someone would call Monday to schedule the appointment. When I had not heard from Turner by mid-afternoon on Monday, I gave them a call. Apparently, weekend calls go to a central office that faxes the orders to each branch. The fax machine was on the fritz and it ate all of the weekend orders. Apparently, they did not think to do some legwork to find out who's orders got lost, and waited to see if the customers called back. Sounds like they haven't heard of computers. Although no one apologized for the inconvenience, I did receive an immediate call back and the service was scheduled for the next day (Tuesday). The serviceman was supposed to show up between 1:30 and 3:30. I got a call at 12:40 that he was on his way. In my opinion, being early is just as bad as being late if your customer has a job and does not have time to sit around all day and wait for you to show up. So, I had to scramble and call my mother who is retired and have her meet the serviceman at the house. It all worked out, and the washer appears to be fixed in the end. I'm torn by my latest experience with Turner. I used them for several jobs when I lived in Greenwood a few years ago, but I am not impressed with my most recent experience at the Carmel branch. The price seemed high and the customer service was lacking. I think next time I have an appliance repair, I'll look elsewhere.
Description of Work: My front-load washer was leaking its contents out of the bottom of the door. The phlange was torn and had come off. After being unable to fix it myself, I called Turner Appliance.

When they came out he didn't have the part so he was going to come back the next day. I had him leave the fridge pulled out because he said he'd be there the next day, but he never showed up. He said he would come that weekend, but he never showed up. Eventually he came out and it turns out it didn't need the part because it started working right after he left. So in the end I was charged over a hundred dollars to have my fridge sit in the middle of my kitchen for four days. I'm on oxygen and I had to set up another oxygen line through my kitchen for four days.

Brian is a professional repairman who cleaned our dishwasher from hard water deposits and it now works like new.
Description of Work: The dishwasher was not washing properly. It was not pushing the water through the arms. Brian took off the bottom arm of the dishwasher and stated the filters were plugged. He used a solution to dissolve the build up and ran a cycle. It now works great.

If they would have phoned me at anytime during this ordeal there would have been no issues.
Description of Work: They came out to fix 5 appliances at our residence. The washer couldn't be fixed (cheaper to replace). The dishwasher couldn't be fixed (cheaper to replace). The refrigerator that wasn't consistently freezing we think was fixed. The range couldn't be fixed - part required. The quote for the part was considerably higher than the price I had could get by ordering the part directly. An attempt was made to try to fix the oven in an effort to avoid replacing the control panel. The tech said to call within 30 days and he would come out and replace the oven control panel if the attempted solution failed. A couple of weeks later, I called and received no return call. A couple of weeks after that, I called again and asked to have an outlet ordered for my JennAir range and the control panel for my oven. I asked about how long it may take to get the part in - they said "I don't know - Thursday". (My call was on Monday.) I received no follow-up call. I called on Wednesday morning to see if both parts had been ordered - especially since I had provided no other details than what is listed in the first sentence of the above paragraph. I was told I would be called "right back". That same day, I called a couple of hours later because one of our rental properties had a leaky refrigerator. When I called, I asked if there was an order placed for my parts and stated that I had a problem with another property. They stated they would call me back. A few hours later I called and asked to speak with the tech. They said he would have to call me back. I asked when I might expect that call. They said they would text him requesting he call me. It occurred to me about 15 minutes later that there may have been confusion about the purpose of my calls on Wednesday - specifically the need for a service call to our rental property may not have been registered. So I called again and gave my name and asked if I could get a service call scheduled for a second property and provided the address. I was placed on hold twice then informed that if I had not called and provided part/model numbers for the part needed, it was not ordered. And that since the last service call was over 30 days ago either I had to provide the part numbers or another service call to note the part numbers for the necessary parts was required. On that same call, I was informed that the name of the lessee was required in order to schedule a service call. I told them that the owner, my husband, would meet them at the property for the service call. They stated they needed the zip code to schedule the service call. I said that I think it would be best if I registered a complaint with Angie's List and take my business elsewhere.

I had just bought this house and the appliance were only two years old so I was surprised to find the fridge was not cooling properly. I called the manufacturer and it was out of warranty so I came to Angie's List to find a repair company. The repair man, Joe, called ahead when he was on his way and arrived on the early side of the 2 hour window. When he removed the fan cover in the Freezer that blows the cold air down to the fridge he realized the fan had malfunctioned - he quickly fixed it and was on his way. I look forward to using them in the future.

The serviceman Ricky came on time and was nice and polite. He did the work well. He apologized when he moved the refrigerator and the drawer fell out on the floor. He cleaned up afterwards. The invoice that he gave me was totaled wrong and when I noticed, I called the office to ask for a corrected invoice, thinking it would be simple and they would simply acknowledge that it had been added wrong and send the corrected copy. The woman who handles the invoices got argumentative and was very rude. She said that I couldn't read numbers. I faxed them my copy which had an incorrect total. The copy they sent me back was clearly written over and the total on the invoice was changed. When I asked had Ricky corrected the total, she said no one had and said "I was accusing them of trying to rip me off." I did not think that at all. When I told her the invoice had clearly been corrected and the total was changed, she got worse and became more rude and unkind. I was surprised and disappointed at how I was treated. I told her I felt disrespected as a customer, she didn't care. She actually got worse when I asked why she was being so disrespectful and harsh. She did not listen well and she kept being rude. I simply wanted the corrected invoice with the correct balance on it for my records. She denied the invoice had been written over and insulted me. She was very harsh and extremely unprofessional. The copy they faxed me and my copy; the one that Ricky had left were clearly different. The one that Turner had, the balance had clearly been written over. It made me feel bad that they said they had not written over it, because you could clearly see double writing on their copy. I wanted to speak to the Manager, in hopes that he was professional and polite and would apologize for the unprofessional way his employee had treated me, but the woman hung up on me. I was so shocked at how I was treated. My husband was right by me when I was on the phone and he said I was calm and polite and he could not understand why she got so rude either. It bothers me that a business would treat a good customer so unprofessional over something that was not originally a big deal. Had she simply sent the corrected copy and said, we caught the mistake and corrected the total and sent you the corrected copy, that would have been a normal response. The way I was treated was not appropriate. The woman who handles the invoices was so inappropriate, harsh and very unprofessional. I am still so shocked at how I was treated. I'm grateful that no other business has ever treated me this way and that most businesses care about their customers and like repeat business. Any business can be friendly and treat you well when they want to be hired for a job, but a really Good Professional business treats a Customer well from beginning to end. Turner failed terribly when it came to the very important factor of treating a Customer well if there is a problem.
