About us

Re-side Inc. is a locally owned company that has been installing James Hardie Siding for 18 years. We are proud to be a James Hardie "Elite Preferred" Remodeler. This is James Hardie's highest level of Certification and Re-side has always maintained Indiana’s highest rating (96%) from James Hardie's independent follow up surveys. Do not make the mistake of hiring an inexperienced James Hardie siding installer based on price alone... approximately 60% of all Fiber Cement installs are completed incorrectly and have no warranty. Re-side’s crews receive ongoing training, and our jobs are randomly audited by James Hardie's installation trainer to make sure critical installation procedures are followed. Project cost is determined by the job. We offer attractive and competitive financing options. Re-side does not install vinyl siding or replace trim on vinyl houses. May contact by phone or email.

This was the best investment I've made on my house in a long time. My house was previously covered in T-111 siding that was mostly rotted, with nails sticking out everywhere. David's crew came in and took off ALL the T-111. As each area was cleared of T-111, they put up OSB, then housewrap, then fiber cement siding. As the work progressed, they also took care of various repairs - including rebuilding the chimney, replacing a rotted window sill, replacing a rotted soffit, and replacing some trim around an attic vent that was rotted. They treated my house as though they were repairing their own! During the residing, the crew noticed that one pallet of siding was wavy - barely visible to the naked eye, and not noticeable by an untrained consumer. I wouldn't have known, but they pointed it out to me and said they would redo the entire side of the house where they had installed the bad siding. After everything was perfect - siding, trim, etc. - they put two coats of paint on the house in ONE DAY! Amazingly fast crew. The entire job was done within 10 days. The house is now quieter, retains hot and cold better, and looks AWESOME. My ONLY complaints are that some of my plants around the house were a little crushed, but it looks like they will all survive, and the amount of small debris. For example, I picked up over a dozen nails out of my yard. I have to be cautious as I live on a creek with lots of wildlife AND next door to 2 toddlers (there are no fences here). If anyone needs to re-side their house, do NOT hesitate to call David at Re-side!
Description of Work: Took off ALL T-111 siding (much of it was rotted), put up OSB, then Fiber Cement siding. Did some minor repairs to rotted window sill, rotted soffit and other rotted trim boards. Painted exterior twice.

Too often today, people find a way to disappoint you. It was reassuring to work with a company like Re-Side that delivered on what they told us.
Description of Work: David and his crew was always very punctual and professional. We couldn't be more pleased with the quality of their work. David's crews resided and painted our 30+ year old home. It had rough-cut cedar siding. We wanted to reside it with concrete-fiber siding (Re-sides specialty). At David's suggestion, we added clap board to augment the horizontal siding. That, combined with the superior work of his paint crew applying three different colors, has made our home look brand new. During the final walk through, David noticed a little over-spray on our deck. It was barely noticeable. He had some of his crew come back the next day and they stained our deck, FOR FREE.

Simply, GREAT! Dave come over and gave a full description of the process, product, procedure and installation details. Have conducted a "VERY" thorough examination of my house prior to the first meeting. I had some chimney structures issues that the roofing contractor had to know about but did not tell me. Dave did not do a patch job but built another one to do the job RIGHT. Dave's goal is not to simply get contract work. It's to make you a great looking home and place to live and dwell. And the price was great! After the hail storms last summer me and my neighbor got the same amount from the insurance company (we both had Erie). She got half of her roof and one side of her house done (and her siding took two weeks). Dave got the siding on in under 3 days. My house looks great, especially with the custom paint job. The neighbors have all complimented on it. I can't believe what other contractors wanted for lesser amount of work and 25% more for fiber cement (and I did not really trust them to do it right, with the way they explained their installation process). The price for Dave to put fiber cement was almost the same as using thicker grade vinyl siding and cheap house wrap. If you are changing the siding on your house don't go with vinyl and give Dave a call. You will be glad you did. There's no way I could have asked for a better contractor and Dave get's my highest recommendation. If you are having you siding replaced don't go vinyl and give vinyl cement a look. You will be glad you did.
Description of Work: Replace the entire outer outside of my house replacing siding, shade, gutters, sophist and fascia boards. Ranch house, (Greenwood, IN)

They finished the painting here in March. The cedar wood siding and trim that we have done was about $1955 that was in last November. They wanted to do the painting late last fall but they couldn’t paint as the weather was too bad so they painted this spring and that was $ 590. They just finished up the job. I called three places that I got from Angies List and this company was most responsive. In this season suddenly it would rain one day and they couldn’t come, so they kept me informed that they would come next week on such and such a day. Their communication was very very good and their price was very competitive. The owner of the company did come out and inspect when they were almost finished with the work and make sure if they did right. One board he was not happy with, which was done on the side of our house, so he made them take it off and put a new one on. They cleaned up their mess very well. What I was impressed with was in spring since the weather broke they were calling us to see if they could finish the painting so we were very happy with them. We would use them again.

We shopped out Re-Side as well as 4 other contractors, but were most impressed with Dave Mills' thorough evaluation of our problems and concerns. Dave seemed to have a better understanding of how to apply the cement board and keep it within the warranty of the manufacturer. We also had Dave replace 34 windows, all gutters and repaint our siding. Dave told us that the new windows would make our home quieter. It was not just a sales pitch - our home really is much quieter! Dave and his crews were always punctual and obviously cared about doing a good job, while paying close attention to the plants and shrubs around our home. Overall, Re-Side did a fantastic job. We get lots of compliments about our home and the beautiful paint color. We would recomment him to our moms if they needed this type of work - what does that tell you! Thanks, Dave!
Description of Work: Removed and replaced all windows in our home. Removed delaminted Hardy plank and replaced with cement board. Replaced all gutters and downspouts. Painted new cement board and window trim.

The project took a total of 3 days, start to finish as they had to watch the weather for three good days. They gave us a date close to the time and fortunately the weather cooperated. There was no mess left around each night as they cleaned up everything each night. The final cleanup was done by them and also David with his magnetic nail finding tool to pick up nails, esp on the driveway (which is gravel). They paid close attention to detail and hung a new garage fixture light after the siding was in place. When the job was completed they finished it by installing the new shutters that we had ordered before the job even started. The only source of contention with expertise was the choice of color for the house, David thinking a different color than white, but he was more than happy to let us pick our shade of white and the job was completed and we couldn't be happier! The gentleman Tim, who did the windows and trimming both outside and on the one in the kitchen (inside) did a phenomenal job! He is truly a craftsman. David was not an absentee manager either. He was here everyday to make the sure job was progressing as planned! Two thumbs up recommendation!
Description of Work: We had replacement siding done with fiber cement siding. In addition we had them replace 8 two story windows with casement windows and 4 ground story windows with casement (3) and one awning window. We first started out thinking we wanted wood windows but David (the owner) showed us some vinyl clad windows that really met all of our expectations of what we wanted. We weren't sure about vinyl versus fiber cement siding, but we soon found out to get the look we wanted that fiber cement was what we wanted. The prices we were quoted were pretty similar so we went with fiber cement. We got estimates from several vendors that did just siding, that did just windows, and did both. We were surprised to find out that Reside Inc had the highest quality materials for the best price and was able to do both jobs. We were interested in that because we did not want any fingerpointing as to whose fault it might be if something was not right with either the siding or the windows or the final painting/cleanup. David worked with us until he and we were sure that we understood all that the job entailed. It took 3-4 visits on his part to answer our concerns as well as any telephone questions. Our report is somewhat "late" because we wanted to see how the work held up over several months and a winter. It was all that we hoped for and more! The windows are beautiful and easy to maintain. The siding is crisp and clean with perfect lines. It has sound deadened a lot of the noise to the outside also. We may have a tornado and not know it was here... The only thing we did not know and had to decide about re: vinyl versus fiber cement siding was that we would have to paint it periodically, which is a consideration for us as it is on the upper story of the house (bottom is brick).

Angie's list is a good thing and when contractors treat you this way you should write a report. That is what this is all about. This is our list too.
Description of Work: I try to go to the Indianapolis Home Show every year to get new ideas and find vendors to do work on my home. I had been noticing that the siding on my 1950 home was coming down. I live in a very windy area. The day I came from the home show it was very windy and indeed my siding was blowing off. I felt lucky that I had talked to Mr. David Mills during the home show regarding fiber cement siding. In fact I signed up on his list to be contacted in order to get an estimate to do some work on the affected gable. My home is basically brick. Well I waited for the call. More siding came off. I called him and he said that he was out of town and would contact me when he returned. He didn't. I called one more time. He had me outside getting an estimate of the length of the longest piece of siding. Well I guess it wasn't long enough or not worth his time to do just a gable of a small house. He made an appointment to come to give a true estimate, then never showed up. I for the life of me can't see how he got the SUPER SERVICE AWARD for 5 years in a row. He's got someone fooled. Yes, I had a little job now that would have led to a bigger job later.

Since that first job I have used David Mills at Re-side as my go-to contractor for all of my projects. They have performed gutter replacement, window and door installation, and light masonry work. Each time the work was completed on time and within budget. I couldn't be happier with their work. I'm too busy with life to worry about if someone's crews are going to show up or whether something is going to be done correctly.
Description of Work: I am a homeowner that also owns multiple rental properties. Prior to joining Angie's List I used the traditional methods for finding contractors to work on my properties and home. I had really bad experiences with the Yellow Pages, recommendations from people I have met, and flyers that I got in my mailbox. I feel sick when I think about all of the money spent on less than average work that many times did not get finished. I first contacted Re-side when a home inspector found an improperly installed roof and a rotting chimney on a house that we were selling. David Mills provided us with a quote that was very detailed and reasonably priced. His crews showed up as scheduled and replaced the roof and built a new chimney out of James Hardie fiber cement. The quality of their work was first rate and after their cleanup you couldn't even tell that they had been there.

I called 4 companies and asked many questions of each to thoroughly understand the advantages of the various products and whether each company would follow the installation specs exactly. Whenever one company would say something that was different from another, I called to confirm the details and get a clear understanding. I wanted the best job possible at a fair price and wanted to insure the warranty would be honored, by following Hardie's detailed installation specs. David was extremely patient with all of the questions and calls and gave me the most satisfactory answers. He offers painting, but I have a painter that I've been loyal to for many years, so I declined. David did not push me at all on this point, instead he and the crew (that has been installing for him for several years) did a remarkable job. My neighbor used a cheap company just a couple of years ago and you can tell already. Re-side happened to be a little less expensive than another reputable company and significantly less expensive than 2 other companies. All were from Angie's List. David is very professional and knows the details of siding, this product, and how to install it. It would be a mistake to reside your home without calling Re-side for a quote. David will provide the best education about the process and options and will work hard to earn the sale. Also, the installation crew was quick, friendly, and clean. There was not a nail or a bit of house wrap left behind, nor was there a damaged bush anywhere.
Description of Work: Re-side removed the 14-year old siding from my home and replaced it with pre-primed (but not pre-painted) Hardie board siding. We have a 3200 sq. ft. 2-story home. It is entirely brick on the front and the first floor on all sides, so this was a relatively small job for Re-side with just 3 second-story sides to complete.

David Mills is a very honest and personnel guy. The upfront presentation was straightforward and comprehensive. The presentation included detailed pictures of each side of the house and what would be done. There were no surprises. The siding portion of the project was done in early December, 2010. The painting had to wait until the spring, 2011. However, the unpainted siding did not look bad at all and gave us a preview of the great new look our home was about to acquire. The workers were considerate and friendly. Cleanup was very complete. We have extensive landscaping around our foundation and the workers took great care to protect it from damage. I would highly recommend Re-side Inc. and their fiber cement siding product.
Description of Work: Removed all LP siding on home. Installed Typar housewrap as weather barrier on home. Installed fiber cement siding by James Hardie. The crews from Re-Side removed all of the improperly installed siding, disposed of it, and re-installed new fiber cement siding in a timely, professional manner. After installation, the paint crews repainted our entire home. I never had any problem with the crews throughout the process. They cleaned up after themselves each day they were on site. I am quite selective in who I choose to work on my home, and would highly recommend David and his crews to anyone in need of fiber cement siding repair or painting.
Description of Work: Our home was hit by a large hailstorm several summers ago, doing over 40K in damages to our home's exterior. At the time, we were desperate to get the repairs completed, and unfortunately jumped on board with a contractor we didn't spend enough time researching (something I will never do again). Our repairs were complete, and everything seemed okay at the time. About 1 year following the initial repairs, our fiber cement siding started to show signs of poor installation. The siding was beginning to shrink (a result of the siding being wet prior & during installation). Large vertical gaps began to form in between the pieces. We found ourselves in the unfortunate position of having to replace a good portion of the improperly installed siding on our own dime. The original installer stood h****** the grounds that the siding itself was faulty (something I discover to be untrue after extensive research). After interviewing several local installers, David from Re-Side showed up to look at the problem. He provided us with a detailed estimate in a timely manner. His knowledge of fiber cement siding was clearly strong, and I felt very comfortable speaking with him regarding our prior experience with the faulty installation.

Excellent work by David Mills (owner) and his crew. All were professional and hard working. Project was started and completed on time. We had another estimate, but went with David because he had a thorough presentation and answered all questions to our satisfaction. David was on site often throughout the project. He made helpful suggestions for how to flow gutters away from the foundation. We had some issues with the new gutters and David or his crew returned twice to correct the problems. I would highly recommend Re-side Inc.

This was our largest home improvement project yet. We had four different companies out to give us estimates. We chose David Mills at Re-Side because of his thorough approach and attention to detail. He was fantastic to work with. The decorative wood blocks on the front of our home gave it a "dated" appearance. David's crew worked diligently to remove those for us, even replacing the soffit that they had been attached to. The entire process went smoothly and we are very satisfied with the results.

The owner of the company is David Mills. His workers were here from sunup to sundown. They worked tirelessly. The quality of their work was very good too. He convinced us to move from vinyl siding to fiber cement siding. He was good about having examples of his projects and explaining how the product was installed. He basically gave us the background of the product before we made the decision. He was very fairly priced too.

Contacted this guy following a hail storm in the North Indy area. After calling to schedule an appt. early in the week, he didn't show up so we decided to write him off. Toward the end of the week, he shows up unannounced catching me coming out of the shower, and proceeds to take measurements of our siding. Very awkward to say the least. After finally getting dressed, I met him outside to discuss my home. During our conversation, he receives a personal phone call yet instead of calling back he takes the call and spends nearly 5 minutes of MY TIME talking about an upcoming mini-vacation with the person on the other end. IMHO, EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. He was also clueless to see the steam coming out of my ears during his call. After taking his personal phone call, I spent nearly 20-30 additional minutes with him explaining the work I needed to have done. During our conversation, he proceeded to tell me I would not likely be able to obtain replacement aluminum siding for my home and would need to consider vinyl or his specialty, fiber cement. This despite the fact that 3 other contractors told me I COULD replace with aluminum siding and provided me with written estimates for aluminum. Confused, I called back 2 of them and they reassured me I could replace with aluminum and even gave me the name of their aluminum supplier. To add insult to injury from the whole weird experience, this guy never even bothered to submit a quote or call us back after his visit. (And you wasted 40 minutes of my and your time because why???) If you're going to do siding on your home, based upon my research & experience of now going through this whole process, I'd recommend you consider three things: 1. Do you really want to do business with someone who's either clueless or uninterested in knowing what other options are out there vs. fiber cement siding? 2. Is the additional cost of fiber cement really worth it vs. vinyl, insulated vinyl or aluminum siding given the depressed housing environment we're likely to be in for years to come? How long will it take for you to recoup your investment in fiber cement vs. others? Vinyl siding has come a long way, even in the last few years. 3. If the economy gets worse, i.e., depression in the future, are one man or small time operations like this one even going to be around? They may have a 5-10 warranty on their work, but if they're not in business to honor it, what good is it? Take my advice, whether fiber cement, vinyl, aluminum, etc., stick with one of the big firms in town who actually know what other options are out there, and who very likely are going to be around, long term, no matter what happens to the economy. From my experience with this outfit, they're more self focused than customer focused. Update 2/11/11: I just saw that the service provider responded with very untrue answers, so wanted to make sure I clarify a few things: 1. Service provider stated we told him our interest was only in aluminum. Not true. We asked for a quote for both aluminum (which he stated he didn't think was available) AND fiber cement. Following our conversation outdoors, service provider remained for another 20 minutes plus to finish taking measurements. If he thought we only wanted aluminum like he states, then why did he remain for another 20 minutes to take measurements?? At that point, if that were actually the case, wouldn't it make sense for him to say we only do fiber cement and leave. Obviously, this is not what was stated. 2. Service provider was also going to quote the installation of 2 doors. We never received a quote for these either, never mind the "fiber cement" comment. Again, you wasted my time because?? 3. If you look at other bad ratings on this outfit, you'll see the same type of experience I received. Service provider either DID NOT return phone calls OR came out to measure the home and then NEVER bothered to follow up. 4. Finally, service provider states we never rated the "big" outfit who actually DID call us back, DID show up on time, DID quote the work, and DID do an excellent job. They just finished last month and following payment and walk around we WILL be giving them an excellent rating. Thanks for reminding us to do that. As I stated before, what this guy says vs. what he actually does are two very different things. Again, stick with the big guys who you know are going to be around for the long haul.
Description of Work: Never actually used him due to the fact he showed up days after we contacted him, unannounced, and never submitted a quote on our place after wasting 40 minutes of my and his time reviewing our job.

Response from Re-Side Fiber Cement Siding Inc
I am sorry that this homeowner has such negative feelings about my company. We strive to ensure that everyone we come into contact with leaves with a positive impression. Soon after I arrived at the homeowner's residence to measure for fiber cement siding he informed me that he was only interested in aluminum and vinyl siding. He didn't receive a proposal from me because Re-side only installs fiber cement siding. No work was performed by Re-side. Please read our other 51 reports and 18 Page of Hapiness nominations to get a more accurate review of a Re-side experience. We are not a "big" firm with multiple layers of employees to monitor and police. We are an owner operated company that specializes in fiber cement siding, windows and painting for 80+ homes each year. The homeowner did not write a report for the "big" firm that installed his vinyl siding during the fall of 2010. It's got to make you wonder....

This was the second time we'd worked with David. He is professional and highly responsive. Gave me a competitive quote (windows are just expensive), ordered and installed the windows. No mess. Insulated around the window where the home builder had not. No issues. David had two employees install, but he stopped by to check on progress. Would use again.
Description of Work: Replace Pella window that had water damage/rotting.

Very good experience. Very prompt and puntual. David keep me informed of the progress al the time. I looked at 4 proposals before I selected RESIDE. They were the least expenve, had one of the best overall proposal presentations. I would use them again as well as recommend them.

I got two bids that were very close, but David came up with ideas that made sense and brought the price down. He also had good solutions to some unique challenges that we faced. It was a pleasant experience with David and his crew. The work was good, on schedule, and tidy. David initiates a final walk-around with the customer before calling the job done, which is a nice touch. Re-side met all of our expectations.
Description of Work: Installed Typar wrap, fiber cement siding, and band boards on three sides of our 1300 sq. ft. ranch. Sprayed two coats of paint. Re-stained original wood siding on the front. Painted garage and rear doors. Re-decked a modest deck w/ treated 2X4's, boxed the posts, and replace the rails. Installed a storm door.

I think these guys are real proes. They did the work they said. They did the extra work to make sure it was a job done right. The work was perfromed in adequate time and the estimate was very very accurate and fair. When I first met David he showed me the 3 window options and told me of the positives of all not trying to sell me on any particular one. He also went out of his way to help me with color options. Overall I may sound like a commerical but they did an outstanding job and the few things that I did notice they came right out no questions and fixed it and also inspected again for that same issue that may have occured somehwere else. It is hard to find good reliable work that you can count on and you can count on quality work at a fair price, Thank you ReSide
