I am a present customer getting the 5 Application Lawn Program, I needed a little help with my lawn since we had so much rain, I was working and my lawn got too long. I called on Monday and they set me right up to get my lawn mowed on Thursday.( Same Week) What a joyous relief when I came home and my lawn looked perfectly manicured. I received a and quot;Blockedand quot; caller ID on my phone on Friday, 9/30/11. **TEN** minutes later, there was a knock at the door. and quot;Kenand quot;, the office manager was at my door. I asked about the lack of a call ahead and he told me that he blocks his caller ID before making calls. I also asked about the 30-60 minute notice I was to have been given. He said that 10 minutes was the best he could do. I then asked about the 3 day delay in calling me back and why I wasn't called to set up an appointment time, etc. and that it was just dumb luck I was home at the time. I also told him that I was supposed to have been called back on Tuesday. He replied that they and quot;don't do that.and quot;
You don't call potential leads back? You just show up? Call me old fashioned but I expect to be called back after being told I would be. I also don't expect that people will just show up at my house after giving a and quot;blockedand quot; caller ID, 10 minute notice.
Ken also got argumentative with me by saying that his receptionist would NEVER have told me that someone would call me back the same day. Wow! That's quite a statement Ken. What about Wednesday? Thursday? I told Ken that all of the phone lines in my office are recorded and that I would have his receptionist recorded. I chuckled and told me that he'd like to have a recording of that because, if it did happen, he'd have to write her up for breaking policy.
Ok, Ken...17 years owning a multi-state business I grew from scratch happened from good customer service. Not telling a customer that they shouldn't expect a call back and that you're going to write up a receptionist for telling a customer that she would have someone call them back the same day. Why isn't that normal? Customers expect their calls to be returned. Anyway, I'm not going to help get some lady a and quot;write-upand quot; just for doing what she should have been doing in the first place.
Moving on, Ken said that he would tour the yard, write up the quote and then come back and ring the door bell so that he could go over it with me. I told him that was fine and that I would wait on him to finish vs. going back to work since I wanted to go over the quote with him in detail so that I could compare it to my current provider.
After an hour, I went looking for Ken. He was nowhere to be found but his quote was attached to my front door along with a note asking for a copy of the audio tape so that he can write-up his receptionist.
It would appear that Ken, the manager, is more willing to write up an employee for giving good customer service than he is to provide it himself.
We'll choose another company to service our yard. One that values its customers as much as they do their staff.
