We went to Lumber Liquidators to replace carpet on my second floor and stairs. We have hardwood downstairs already. The store folks were nice and helpful, and we got a good price on hardwood that matched (closely) the stuff we already had. We went through Lumber Liquidators for install as well. But Lumber Liquidators contracts with RW Flooring for the install process, and RW Flooring then hires independent contractors to do each job. I would never trust this again. RW Flooring scheduled our install for 2-3 days, on the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday between Christmas and New Years. So we took days off work, moved everything around the house, boarded all the pets, etc., to get ready. The installers showed up Monday and Tuesday and worked, then showed up Wednesday morning to say they couldn't work because it was raining, and they'd be back the next day (New Year's Eve), and then only half the crew showed up on Thursday. That half of the crew finished the flooring upstairs. The stairs weren't done at all, but they just left and said they didn't do stairs and didn't know when the rest of the crew would finish them but it wouldn't be that day. So there we were with a house that was trashed, piles of unused hardwood and supplies everywhere, a stairway that was wood framing and plywood treads, a holiday weekend coming up, and we had to start going back to work the next week. RW Flooring called a few hours later to tell us that the crew wasn't coming today to finish the stairs--which we already obviously knew--and they'd be there later. When I explained that it was a little inconvenient (sarcasm) to just bail on a job like that, they said the contractor was sick and couldn't come in and they didn't know when he could come back. But they offered to reschedule for a Saturday if that was less inconvenient and they'd get back to me. We heard nothing through the weekend or the Monday or Tuesday of the next week. Then Wednesday morning, as we're getting ready to leave for work, the installer shows up. No notice, no warning. No way to prep the house, adjust our work schedules, or board any of the pets. I called RW Flooring, and got the rudest most insolent customer service response in my life. They offered to reschedule, even though they were already unpacked and starting, and that they wouldn't take any responsibility for any inconvenience--even though they said someone from their office should've called to tell us the job was scheduled for the day. He reiterated that these were independent contractors and what they did wasn't anything that was RW Flooring's fault. His tone, attitude, and approach to a paying customer with a clear issue where his office had dropped the ball was "We've got our money, go away." He also let me know that the post-job walk through has to be done with the installer, not anyone from RW Flooring. So the big holes in the flooring where they face-nailed improperly now have to be corrected by the already-unreliable install guy. Again not RW Flooring's responsibility, he said. Buy hardwood from Lumber Liquidators if you want. As far as I can tell, the product is fine. And the store employees were good to work with and followed up on supply concerns. But the company passes of the install aspect of the process to another company who then passes it off to independent crews that you don't hire or vet. And every time one of the companies pass off that work, they pass off responsibility. Ultimately, you're left paying to be at RW Flooring's convenience. Don't fall for that trap like I did.

Description of Work: Installed 5" Bellawood Brazillian Cherry in 3 rooms. United Installs, lumber liquidators installers, did the installation. First the humidity was too low on the first day, so they had to come back and start the next day. They were supposed to have checked humidity and moisture level on a previous visit, but forgot. This was a glue down on a concrete slab and the installers struggled to hold the boards together and minimize the gaps. They said 5" cherry boards are not as flexible as 3" boards and not really good for a glue down. No mention of this issue from the salesmen or the estimator. In the end, they took 6 working days instead of the 3 days estimated. The baseboard installation was very ammature looking with gaps that they recommended having the painter fill with caulk.

In April, 2013 my husband and I purchased 40 boxes of laminate flooring from Lumber Liquidators (LL) . Due to various reasons we were unable to install the flooring immediately after the purchase. Last month we started to lay the flooring in a spare room. Soon, I noticed a strong smell. I felt my eyes burning, and had a running nose, and sore throat. We stopped installing the flooring. Then in March we saw the 60 minutes episode regarding the high levels of Formaldehyde in the flooring we purchased. The next day my husband and I went to Lumber Liquidators to ask for a store credit for the 34 boxes of unopened flooring. We were told since the purchase was made in 2013 we had to call corporate to ask for a credit. We called LL several times and were told a supervisor could approve our request. We never received a phone call from LL. Then I started to email LL on March 10th. They have stopped responding to all of my requests. My reference number with LL is: Acknowledge: Other (Ticket# LTK12166012572350X) (5) I was informed that I qualify for a home test kit to check the air quality in my home. As a recent cancer patient, I refuse to put myself, and family at an increased risk of cancer. The LL website it indicates that LL may in its discretion, fully and completely resolve a claim for a manufacturers defect by providing a store credit. It is my belief that the manufacturer and LL violated federal and state laws by selling Chinese-manufactured laminated wood products containing formaldehyde at "levels known to pose serious health risks (U.S. District Court in California). I would like credit for the unopened boxes of laminate flooring.

The flooring was ordered and delivered to the dealer on time. The work of putting the flooring down was performed by another vendor who lays a lot of hardwood flooring. He was impressed by the quality and price. Although the floor takes a lot of use it is still beautiful.

Purchasing was easy, good selection. Free samples to take home. Had to bring the flooring home myself to avoid a $300 delivery fee, but that was ok. They didn't have some of the thresholds in stock, and did not call me when they came in, I had to call and check when they got there. The install was great, took 2 days. Professional work, nice people. Looks great.
Description of Work: we purchased bamboo flooring and materials for our living room and kitchen, roughly 700 sq ft. Their contractor, United Installs did the work. Was about $3500 for flooring and $2500 for the install.

We are working on how and some flooring done. He was professional, fit the work and measure in the room. However, he told me that the charge of taking out to the house is $25. Sometimes, the basement forgets to show customer staff. He did not charge me. He pushed to that time of installation. The quote is only for installation and not even charge me the wood. I do not make decisions for them.

I installed everything myself. Had a few issues along the way. Initially they loaded the wrong flooring into my vehicle and I had to make a return trip to exchange. They sold me some transition pieces that were supposed to go with the floor but didn't fit well and forced me to play around with the floor a bit to make it work. Also, they told me I didn't need a particular accessory product, but when I later read the instructions for the floor it indicated that I did in fact need it. The floor overall seems pretty nice, definitely seems higher quality then the stuff you'd see at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. The flooring is not in a high traffic room, so hopefully it will hold up for an extended period.
Description of Work: Bought Schon engineered hardwood flooring + some transition pieces/underlayment.

Lumber liquidators was great when we bought our floor. They answered our questions and we layed the floor ourselves using their advice. We THOUGHT we bought the hardest wood with the best finish. BELLAWOOD. turns out to have been a awful choice. We seasoned the floor material as directed by leaving in living room for 2 weeks before laying. We layed the recommended roofing paper to protect against moisture from crawl space. We layed floor leaving recommended gap around floor for expansion.and boy, did it expand. Because it expanded so much, the boards pushed themselves up and out of staples. Almost standing some boards on thier sides. We had to remove 3 strips of boards the entire length of room. The boards also warped becoming U shaped with raised edges. When we first layed the floor it looked great but we noticied that it seem to scratch easily. 6months later in June, the warping and buckling began. We live in an 18yr old home with crawl space. no flooding or other water damage. Our home has central heat and air. We just had usual summer weather with humidity. We call lumberliquidators who refered us to Bellawood. Bellawood has now rejected our claim saying moisture was cause and that is not covered. My belief is that the floor was not cured properly. Bellawood took the complaint over the phone, did NO onsite assessment, just sent a letter dening our claim. I guess they believe a home in midwest with normal humidity is a problem. We will probably have to take them to small claims court.I now have a wood floor that is uneven with gaps of missing wood. I will have to remove all the floor material and start again. I paid $5000 for a floor I cannot use plus my unpaid time in laying, removing and replacing it. I DO NOT recommend Bellawood.

Not completed. Poor customer service after sale.
Description of Work: The contact person listed is Richard. I did not work with Richard. Mostly worked with Mark over the phone for ordering and purchasing of cork flooring. Purchased and ordered flooring and was told it would arrive from Georgia two weeks from the order date, which was June 12th. Made follow up phone calls on status of order at 2 weeks, 3 weeks and almost 4 weeks. Each time was told it would be in next week. Lumber Liquidators has already charged my account. They cannot give me any info on where my flooring is or what the new arrival date may be. I would like the flooring, not a refund.

WE ORDERED THE FLOORING JANUARY 5TH AND THE MOLDING AND TRIM PIECES WERE BACK ORDERED. WE DID NOT ACTUALLY RECEIVE THE MOLDING UNTIL MARCH 15TH. I ENDED UP HAVING TO CALL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER LINE AND WAS ABLE TO GET IN CONTACT WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE COMPANY, TOM SULLIVAN, AND HE SAID THE MATERIALS WERE IN STOCK AND THERE WAS NO REASON THAT WE SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD THEM. HE THEN SENT THE ADDITIONAL PIECES BY UPS BY-PASSING THE INDIANAPOLIS STORE. WE ARE SATISFIED WITH THE FLOORING, IF YOU ORDER FROM THEM DO NOT PICK IT UP UNTIL ALL OF IT HAS ARRIVED.
