Handyman Connection of Carmel

Workman came Tuesday to look over job and gave me a labor quote. After I gave the go ahead, he came back on Thursday. We went to Lowes together and he selected the materials he would need and I paid for them ($250). He then built the handrails and installed the weather stripping. He also adjusted the strike plates on the door frame so the door closed more tightly. He did a fine professional job.

I was quite satisfied with the work done until I discovered by accident after the installation that the "hood" that directs combustion gases from the top of the water heater to the flue was not held in place by screws, with the result that it could have easily been knocked out of place, at which time my basement would be the destination of carbon-monoxide gases that are intended to be exhausted to the outside via the flu. I was quite concerned, especially because the proper connection could have been made in less than 5 minutes using screws from my supply. (The workman's excuse for not completing the job, as I was told by the HC owner, was that there were no screws included in the packaging. Please!!!!!). Having had second-hand experience with a death from CO, I was very disturbed by this event and underscored that concern by asking for a refund of the entire cost of the installation. I was willing to accept less than a total reimbursement, but that opportunity did not present itself. During my phone conversation with the HC owner, he focused entirely on the (un)reasonableness of my refund proposal and failed to in any way acknowledge the seriousness or potential consequences of the workman's egregious failure. At one point in our phone conversation, the HC owner said something (??) that convinced me that he and I were in different books -- forget about the same page -- at which time I said "put it in writing" and hung up on him. His subsequent writing announced his decision to refund my money on the condition that I "never contact HC again for any reason whatsoever" I can live without HC. Somewhat ironically -- prior to this very bad experience, I had many interactions with HC with which I was more than pleased. My assessment is that the owner would benefit from remedial instruction in empathy.

They filled in the hole and sanded it down and finished it with a coat of paint. I think they did an excellent job and the man they sent was very nice and pleasant.

I am very happy I called Handyman Connection. They had Gary at my house with a completed estimate before the other company even called me back. Before the appointment I received an email about Gary and the date of his last background check. That was nice but I was very comfortable with Gary and he seems very trustworthy. He could have used the weather as an excuse but he spent extra time traveling to my house and then braved the weather outside my house. I wanted to do more extensive work but Gary explained why it was not my best option. On the other hand he found some issues that really do need to be fixed. He was also very open about what he can do and what might require a differ et craftsman. This gave me a lot of trust in his recommendations and the work we will schedule. The price on the estimate also seems very reasonable . I'm not crazy about having to go buy the materials myself, but it will be worth the trouble if we get someone who's skillful and trustworthy at such a good price. Based on this meeting, we'll probably work with this company for a long time.

It was great. I enjoyed having the handyman in my home. He was professional and did great work.

We contacted two companies that repair concrete. The only thing they wanted to do was tear out the entire porch and replace the concrete. One told us we needed to contact some type of handyman to brace up the roof because they do not do that. I contacted Handyman Connection who sent out Steve. He suggested patching the bad spot then covering the entire porch with an epoxy coating. He would use a color that complemented the rest of the house. He used Olympic Rescue It. He explained how the Handyman Connection works. They only provide labor and we were responsible for materials. He would go to Lowes to pick up the proper stuff. They then called us for a credit card number. What he suggested was exactly what I thought should be able to be done. After talking to Steve for over an hour I could tell he knew what he was doing. He carved the blue whale at the zoo which he could not figure out why they wanted it since they do not have any whales. He coated the entire porch to below the soil line and ran a thick bead of sealant around where there porch connected to the house. The color really looked good. Steve is in high demand so you may need to wait a few weeks for him to get to you.

Overall I was satisfied with the work that was provided.

We had a plumbling issue that required them to cut holes in the drywall, I called out Handyman connection to repair the rather large holes. Andy did a fantastic job patching all the holes and matching the texture that was on the drywall! You can't even tell that a patch was done, the texture is that perfect. They have done other jobs for me in the past (exterior painting and window reapir) and have always been great to work with.

He did a great job suggesting ideas and we got along great. We have to wait on a few other things to happen, but we plan on using them soon.

We set up two appointments with this group to review the work and give us an estimate. They did not show up to either appointment. We had people adjust their schedules to meet with them twice, only to be left waiting. To be fair, Handyman Connection noted they called and rescheduled prior to the first appointment, but if this happened, they did not contact the person that contacted them. We gave them a second chance after missing their first appointment.......and they did it again. We're moving on to a more responsive provider.

I requested that the gutters be cleaned at my mother's home which is primarily one story with one upper dormer gutter. I said that I wanted the contractor to come out prepared to do the job no matter what the estimate was since we don't have time to make it a 2 step process (estimate then later appt to do the work). The contractor came out on time for the estimate which was $370 with $50 off for Angie's List, so $320. He said he didn't have ladders or anything to do the job and would not do it that day and he also didn't have a screen roller tool to put the screen back in place. He said he couldn't carry every tool with him because he couldn't fit it in the car. He couldn't schedule the job until Sept. 8th since they are so busy. When I cancelled the scheduled repair, I was a little surprised that they didn't want to know why. I found someone else to do the job locally for less than 1/2 the price, so I'm glad I didn't have them do it that day. I would've paid too much.

It went very well. Andy Bishop was the person who did the work. Showed up on time, showed me what his plans to do each job and showed me what was done when finished. Made sure I was happy with results. I use Handyman Connection for small repair jobs around the house that I can't/won't tackle due to my limited skillset. I will make sure I ask for Andy on future jobs. Well done!

Marty came out and gave me the estimate. Seemed reasonable so I called to schedule. He was booked out to Sept 16th so I went ahead and scheduled but asked the office to please let me know if something earlier opened up. They called me a few days later and had a cancellation so Marty came out today and did the work. He did a real nice job.

Andy Bishop does exceptional work, very kind, doesn't waste time, takes pride in his skills. I would recommend him to anyone.

Always efficient, always on time, and always a great price with excellent work.

Got off to a really bad start. Had several miscommunications with the schedulers that almost led me to find a new company to do the work. But Nate Lummis showed up and hit the homerun for the company. He understood everything, was very capable, and knocked it all out in far less time than I had imagined.

I am extremely pleased with the work that was performed. Andy, the person who did the work, was very professional. I would definitely use him again!

They did a pretty good job. I will recommend them. Their price might have been a little high but I needed someone pretty quickly so I hired them. I will certainly hire them again.

They were good. They didn't seem quite as knowledgeable about the work they have done.

This went extremely well. Better than expected, given the age and high corrosion level of the parts being replaced. Everything was done within 7 hours.

the provider called and asked if he could come at a earlier time to give me a estimate and I replied "yes." When I got home I discovered he never came by. he was suppose to leave me a estimate in my mailbox, but he never showed up.

Andy came out to give us the estimate and was also the one who did the work. He was GREAT! He was very punctual (always called or forewarned us if times were going to be different), very neat and conscientious about his work and was very easy to work with. He came across some unexpected problems (just like they do on HGTV!) but he kept us calm and took care of them for us. He finished the work well within the time period he had estimated for it, and the bath is BEAUTIFUL.

I was very satisfied. I am having them come out next week to give me an estimate on another project.

This was a horrible experience, and the work has never been completed. The only good is that I haven't paid them a single dime! Where to start...first, I started this process the week of Thanksgiving. I called to schedule an appt while I was off work. I was specific with them on the phone about the two services I was requesting. Handyman Connection sent me an e-mail confirming an appt, but never showed up. When I called, they told me they would never schedule an appt on a few days notice, and said I must have been sent a confirmatory e-mail by mistake. They then offered to come the following week, which required me to take time away from work, but I did it. Now, we're at December 5, 2014. Their "craftsman" arrived with no tools and no ladder big enough to fix my downspout. I was told this appt was just the "inspection". When I asked "why can't you do the work based on what I told your office?", their "craftsman" said "this is how we do it". When I asked, "so now I have to take time off work again for you to come back?", he said "yes, it's how we do it." Because I don't have the equipment or the ability to do these services myself, I went with it, unfortunately. I booked the follow up appointment for Dec. 12, which again required me to take time away from work. I WASTED 4 HOURS!! The "craftsman" didn't come with the downspout ribbons or siding, despite having taken pictures of to match materials at the Dec. 5 appt. Instead, he drove around for 4 hours, periodically calling me, to tell me he couldn' find siding to match. I finally had to leave to go to work. After this, I made repeated contact with the "craftsman" about the unfinished work. He had given me his cell number. All I heard were excuses as to why he didn't make it my house this day or that day. He "promised" to come Saturday, Dec. 20, only to call me to tell me his truck had been repossessed. On or about Dec. 22, I then contacted the office. Craig at Handyman Connection asked me why I had been contacting the "craftsman" directly, when their work order provided not to. I pointed out that their "craftsman" had never had me sign/complete that portion of the work order. I asked Craig what his plan was to complete the services, now that I had wasted almost a month and several hours off work. He sent another person to my home. The 2nd guy told me the siding could not be replaced due to temperature, and couldn't be until spring. {They would have known this when I booked the initial appt, but never said a word.} Turns out the first guy actually did replace the ribbons on the downspout, just with the wrong color. The 2nd guy put screws in the loose siding and said they would be back when the weather warmed up. I HAVE NEVER SEEN OR HEARD FROM THEM SINCE LAST DECEMBER. So much for coming back in the Spring to make this right-- I should not have to "chase them" to do the right thing.
