Handyman Connection of Carmel

Very well. The handyman came to my home on Saturday, June 19th, to give me an estimate. The office called on Monday, June 21st, to schedule the work but I missed the call because I was at work. I returned the call and asked availability. The handyman was available on Wednesday or Thursday of this week but would then be on a job for a few weeks. I asked if he could get the necessary supplies to do the job on Wednesday and the receptionist confirmed with the handyman and got back to me right away. I then scheduled the job and he did the work. I went home to pay him for the materials (that he purchased for the job) and to see how he was doing. He was just about finished but he showed me the weather stripping and the faucet and then I went back to work. He cleaned up after himself in my house and was very polite.

The contact was very pleasant and professional and offered a good quote. $240 to do the installation. I didn't realize this, however Handyman connection is a labor-only service. So the homeowner provides all of the material - however the handyman did give us some suggestions as to ways we could save money. Ultimately we ended up tackling the project ourselves....though because of how long it has taken to do it ourselves, I do wish we would have just hired the company to do it all.

Richard came to the house on time introduced himself and assessed the problem. Replaced the hose with no problem and was professional and knowledgeable throughout. I would definately use this company again.

Overall, the process went OK. For the most part, the work was done satisfactory, however, there were areas for improvement, including the even application of the ceramic tile, caulking, etc. I would use this company again, but not for this type of work or size of project. The person on the job was helpful and friendly.

This Company response was quick - I called one day, and they were out the next. Punctual & courteous. Trimming the gound cover was our front yard and on a hill. He also spread 6 bags of rocks and painted the outside of our garage door. He went to a paint store and matched some left-over paint I had. No hassel - I just made a phone call, they came out, and the whole deal was done and over in 3 days. I was in a time crunch due to the 500 race, so this was a real relief.

From the first call to schedule the estimate with Melissa, through the entire process with Joe performing all of the work, I found these folks to be the most professional people I've ever dealt with in the contracting world. Joe's work was beautiful and he is polite and respectful. I had no trouble letting him be in my home alone. I will definately use him again.

The guy who came out was Eugene Gann, and he was very courteous, understanding, and punctual with his work. He worked with me on price and was very thorough in his job. He was a pleasure to deal with and had a good sense of humor. I would recommend him again.

The guy wanted to put the job off which was irritating, he also had us go shop for the parts we needed. I thought that was kind of odd. When he left the water still hadnt drained, because not only was the pump broken but there was a clog somewhere, so we had to call another plumber to come out. I realize that was not his fault and once we had the drain cleaned the pump worked fine.

It went well. Steve Payton was the guy that did both the estimates and work. He replaced the rotted lumber with new pine, which he primed. The materials cost, which is separate from their labor estimate was reasonable. He did some fairly fancy milling of the lumber to have it fit, cleaned up and left. He had to make an additional trip to his workshop to correct a missed estimate. He did this at no additional charge to me. He was a nice guy, I would use him again. The Handyman service communicated well and met all expectations.

Sounds like an easy job, huh? Well, if you consider the original 4" duct work was placed in a 3" back wall of the laundry room, up the wall, over the attic to somewhere, but who knew where. I emailed the Handyman connection from Angie's List. They called the next day to schedule an appointment and tell me who to expect. Barry called to let me know he was on his way for our scheduled estimate. He showed up on time, courteous, and sensible. After looking over the situation, Barry's common sense said, to just run the dryer vent the shortest route to the exterior of the home. After a short call to quote a price, Barry was patient as I changed my mind about half of the job. Another quick phone call and Barry was able to give me another quote and we scheduled the work for three days later. So, fast forward three days, Barry again called ahead of time to let me know he was on his way. He showed up on time. Barry went right to work, but stopped quickly as he began to drill into the wall hit something flexible in the wall. After further investigation, it turned out Barry found the other end of the original duct work! Never the less, he corrected the existing problem and finished the job and cleaned up afterwards. If you want a job done right call this company and ask for Barry Roach. :)

I was really pleased with them. I called another fencing company, but they were totally uninterested in doing repairs. This guy was really honest about the things he thought he couldn't do, and he was willing to do the little jobs other people didn't want to do.

They tore up carpet and replaced it with hardwood floors. We had some carpet left over from a previous carpeting job. He measured it to see if it would be enough and it wasn't. He then offered to either replace the carpet with new carpet or to match our existing floors by laying new hardwood floors. He did such a perfect job! He also repaired a light for us because we thought the switch wasn't working but it ended up being a problem with the light.

My experience with Handyman Connection was very good and I will definitely be using their services again. From the initial consultation to the final work product, they were nothing but professional and accommodating. Rob performed the work in the bathroom and he did an absolutely wonderful job. I was amazed at how smooth everything went and beyond pleased with the workmanship. Thank you, Rob and Handyman Connection!

They were very punctual. They got the job done in a timely manner. The quality of the workmanship was very good. The price was good as well.

My dad who is 90 years old was very pleased with the job he did. I paid them via credit card over the phone for their work so my dad would not have to worry about it. I saw the job done a couple of days later, and everything looked very good.

He came out and did work for us. He hung up a light, put in some switches and did other little jobs that I was not going to do. He was a very nice guy. He seemed to be willing to do anything. He did quality work. We were very happy with him. The price was reasonable. The quality of work was excellent.

George, the handyman came and gave us an estimate for the work to be done. He clearly explained that once he started pulling off the rotten cedar siding there may be more damage and there may be additional costs due to any unforseen damage. We agreed to provide all the needed materials for the project. They scheduled a date for the work to be done and showed up that day and started work. They did an excellent job replacing the rotten siding. They kept us well informed as to the work they were doing and when additional siding needed to be replaced we were made aware of it. I would certainly use them again for any work I needed to have done and would also recommend them to anyone.

He didn’t charge us for this visit. They are on time and very efficient. They will save you money where they can, they won’t over charge you for things you don’t need done. They are the only handyman service I will have in my house. I will absolutely continue to use them in the future.

The main issue I have experienced is that the hot water piping from my bathtub had leaked through the wall and ruined the paneling as a result of a valve that was installed by Rich Pontolillo with Handyman Connection. This July I noticed while shampooing my carpets a dark wet area in the corner and some mold that had accumulated. They sent out a plumber to look at the problem, but he could not fix the issue. The plumber then called Handyman Connection to request the original person come back out to fix the problem. Handyman Connection ended up cut an access panel and in doing so they cut my telephone wire as well. To be fair to Rich he did take the panel with him to frame it but once it was replaced it did not stay together due to the extreme condition of the panel surrounding. After this event I continued to call to state my complaint in July and never got a response. They told me that they had continuously tried to reach out to me which is absolutely not true because I am at home 99% of the time. Both Kimmy and Craig made me feel like I was lying about not receiving the phone calls which is the premise of why I wanted to make this complaint. They finally offered to settle with me for the amount of $552 but to accept this payment I had to agree not to make any complaints about the experience. I refused to take this settlement. I then proceeded to ask Don Cole to leave my home.

Handyman Connection was prompt in response, clear in its estimate of labor costs. As one purchases one's own material, I was able to choose exactly what I wanted and at what price. Best of all, the person doing the work was multi-skilled, had remodeling ideas to implement mine, was pleasant to work with, always on time. That "handyman" is Russ Frame, whom I would recommend to anyone for remodeling work.

The job went relatively smoothly. The only unexpected problem was having to remove, then re-install, the dishwasher. The technician, Mike Thomas, arrived exactly when scheduled and went right to work. He quickly discovered the problem with the way the old sink had been installed. He warned us that there might be problems with removing and re-installing the dishwasher because of its age (23 years!). Fortunately, there were no complications and everything went smoothly. Installing the two bathroom sinks and faucets was "a piece of cake" for Mike. He didn't make a mess and everything looks and works beautifully. He was completely finished in about six hours.

A couple of months ago, the electrical in the basement stopped working because water hit the sump pump outlet when a pipe broke. The work was done without a permit and I'm not sure that the electrical was up to code. If they had installed the outlet higher, the water would not have blown out the electric. I had to replace 3 sump pumps because of the problem. I attempted to contact them, but their site wasn't working. I had about 4 inches of water in the basement due to the pipeburst. Also, the electrical they for the dryer connection was inadequate and began to catch fire. My house would have burnt down if my son hadn't caught the problem. They did come back and redo the electric for that part, quickly. I really liked the guy that did the work. He was wonderful to work with and had good ideas. The rest of the work was good, just not the electrical.

John did an excellent job, really worked with our schedules, and helped us to make and important timeline. The quality and price of the work was excellent as well.

Russ Frame was amazing. His original walkthru pointed out area's that needed to be addressed. He guided us towards purchasing quality replacement products. He arrived on time and did a fantastic job on all the installations. I was impressed in his professional attitude and work ethic. He worked straight through and completed the jobs in 6 hours. I will call them for any work I have to have done.

Boy am I ever glad I got a second estimate. Handyman Connection's estimate was DOUBLE the price from the handyman we hired. I was shocked! The handywoman who showed up to do the work was apparently unaware of some of the electrical supplies available on the market. We had hoped to replace some two pronged outlets. Our contracted handyman was doubtful those outlets were still available. After checking three sources, the contracted handyman was not able to find the two pronged outlets. The handywoman from Handyman Connection was not aware of this situation, and I am disappointed in this lack of knowledge. This experience has taught me to ALWAYS get a second estimate.
