 + 0 moreThe gentleman that I thought was going to do the work was pulled from the job. Another man came to do the work. He did not instill confidence but I let him do the work. He had to reschedule several times, left early. the work was slip-shod. I called handyman and they eventually sent someone out to view the work and then agreed and redid the work. The problem with handyman is that they have a lot of sub-contractors and you don't know who is going to show up. I went to Angie's list and their work was mostly A's, that is why I tried them.
Description of Work: I had the outside of our screen porch redone. Siding, screen, trim, and a new door.

 + -1 moreThe guy that came was not particularly friendly. The initial work was completed it looked good, but with time a year later there is now a chalky substance that comes off on your hand when you touch the railing. It needs to be completly redone. The paint is coming off where the chalky stuff is where the nail holes were filled. I will not use them again.
Description of Work: Filled nail holes porch rail and repair one of the rail posts.

 + -1 moreI am very pleased with Handyman Connection. Ron was very professional and did a great job. My experience with Handyman Connection was wonderful! Everyone I spoke to was very nice and professional. I asked Ron to give me an estimate on installing a Laminate floor in April. He gave me a fair estimate so we are having him install the floor in April. I am glad I joined Angies List and found Handyman Connection. I plan on using them for anything that needs to be done in my house.
Description of Work: We had a leak in our toilet in our 1/2 bath downstairs. Our floor and sub floor was very wet and spongy. Ron from Handyman Connection came and looked at the floor. It turned out to be worse than we thought. Ron made numerous trips under our house in the crawl space to check what kind of damage was done to the floor and to shut off the main water valve. This job ended up taking 2 days as Ron wanted me to keep a fan on the floor for 2 days to dry up the water that was between the old floors. He returned on Friday with all the supplies needed to fix the floor. He worked the entire day (81/2 hrs.) and replaced the pipe that goes into the toilet and some other pipes. He then replaced the floor down to the studs. He did an awesome job with the sub floor. He cleaned up all the mess and made sure the toilet was put back and finished the job very professionally.

 + 0 moreAaron came out and measured the drawers for new glides. He called in to the headquarters for the quote. For a $ 25.00 trip charge to Lowe's and the materials we paid extra. We were offered the chance to go buy our own materials but didn't want the hassle. Aaron returned 3 days later with the materials and fixed the drawers up like new with the new sliders. The quality was excellent and he called ahead and came on time. We are pleased to be able to use the drawers again and wished we had done it sooner.
Description of Work: We had 3 cabinet drawers that needed new sliders because the original plastic glide holders cracked.

 + -1 moreI called and ask to have a handyman come out on a particular day. They said someone was available that day and I scheduled an estimate for the first available time I had before then. The office led me to believe that I would be able to get the work done on the day I requested. For the estimate they sent a handyman to do that estimate that wasn't available on the day I requested. They then gave and excuse that they can't schedule work until after the estimate is accepted and had already filled the day I asked for. I have used Handyman connection in the past and have repeated had to explain I don't get a lot of time off from work. They are very unwilling to be flexible and act as though they don't value my business. If I am ever able to get them to come back out to do the work this will be the last time I use this company.
Description of Work: The handyman showed up and provided a good estimate. He was very polite and professional. The office failed to schedule me for an appointment but led me to believe I would be able to get an appointment the day I asked for. I took the day off and then they told me that the handyman they sent out to do the estimate was not available on the day I asked for. It may be months before I am able to take another day off during the M-F work week.

 + -1 moreSome of the work was done well and some was not. We ended up having to call and pay for a plumber to fix the sink in our basement as the Handyman could not figure out what to do. As a result, we ended up spending more of our time waiting for the plumber to come over & spent additional money to get the sink repaired.
Description of Work: We had several miscellaneous things to be fixed (leaking sink, sink w/out water, fireplace mantel that was loose, doors that would not close. The man that came to do the work was not able to fix one of the sinks & the caliber of work on the fireplace was a bit sketchy. After I got the bill, I realized I had used this same company several years ago and had poor results. Unfortunately I did not remember that before I called them this time. The work on the doors was fine. It just seems they employ people who are not well rounded as a Handyman needs to be.

 + -1 moreThere were about 4 loose pavers. A paving company quoted me $1800 to rip out the entire walk and level it. What I really wanted was to repair any unsafe areas. Handyman Connection sent out a guy who said that was the correct way to repair the low spots, but also said he could just repair the loose pavers. He quoted to use some masonry mix to repair, but showed up with an adhesive that was supposed to be better. So far (4 months), it has worked. He also told me during the estimate to go through and pry up any that might be loose. He even left the rest of the adhesive tube in case we have any more loose ones. Guess the trick was to properly clean the pavers before applying the adhesive.
Description of Work: Repaird loose pavers on front walkway and steps. That we had tried adhesive on before.

What's more is that they are still trying to add me even though I have denied their request. The gentleman also missed the first day of work which was very inconvenient for me.

 + 0 moreRon did a very professional job for a reasonable price. He was punctual and stuck by his estimate even though I think the job was harder than it first appeared. We were very pleased with the results.
Description of Work: Ron Cotterman removed an old mailbox and planted a new mail box in its stead. The old mail box was firmly entrenched in concrete and it took some time and effort to remove it. Ron did a very professional job for a reasonable price.

 + -1 moreThe first person that Handyman Connection - Indianapolis sent out didn't have a clue. He'd never done one of these before. So we called them back and said they needed to send somebody who knows what they're doing. They did send another gentleman and his workmanship was fairly decent but not how we expected it. And my husband ended up having to help him. He did a nice job of cleaning up. The fact that they did honor our request and sent somebody else out gets them a B. He was early so he gets an A for punctuality. Whether we used them again would depend on what we wanted doing.

Mike came out and was very professional and let us know what we needed. Although we paid for 2 hours of service, he performed about 3 hours of work with no additional charge. We are very happy with the job performed and would definitely use them again!

This saves them extensive mark up on those items that others charge. Licensed plumbers and electricians on staff when required. General Handyman services of all kinds. Kitchen, Bathroom and Basement remodeling. Please note: There is a $90.00 fee for Insurance and home inspection estimates. The fee will be rebated off the cost of the job if Handyman Connection does the work.
