I was very pleased with the service. He quoted me a price over the phone. He honored his original quote even though it would have cost a couple hundred more to do what the service would actually have cost. He was really nice and honest with me.

I have used them for a long time. They are very competent people.

I called on a Monday about the stuck ignition switch and they got us in by Wednesday morning. After taking a look, they diagnosed a bad ignition switch and also a bad tie rod. I'm very grateful they caught the tie rod issue even though it cost me a lot more money. This is my wife's car and when I asked her about it, she said she'd been hearing noises from that part of the car when she turned but didn't think it was a big deal and hadn't mentioned it to me. Fred and the good folks at Glendale saved her from a potentially very serious accident. Thank you.

Summary: My overall experience with Glendale Automotive was one of the best service experiences I have had to date! The staff was both professional and personable. The atmosphere was neighborly and the decor is best described as simple character. There was no wifi, fancy cappuccino machines, or flat screen TVs. Instead there was an old fashioned candy machine with pull handles, a pot of coffee brewing and a corded hand-held telephone with buttons...awesome! Detail: I have an XC90 (Volvo) and am a stickler about having my car serviced ONLY by the automakers (in this case Tom Wood Volvo) service shop. Tom Wood has some exclusive right to sell Volvo's in the Indianapolis area. Therefore my options (as it pertains to Volvo auto dealerships) where limited. In the Spring of 2011 Tom Wood Volvo replaced my front breaks and rotors. The cost was about $500. Recently during a service inspection I was informed that my rear breaks and rotors also needed to be replaced. The cost again...$500. At this point I have spent a few thousand dollars with Tom Wood over the past 2-3 years for basic service needs. With the holiday season approaching, I decided to give an Angie's List service provider a try. My last experience with a provider from the list, Ty's Detailing, was very positive. Although I have always taken my cars to the automakers designated service provider, I decided to search for recommendations on Angie's List. Initially I contacted All Star Tire and Auto (A-Rated). I contacted the shop via email. I got an immediate response, offering to provide a free quote. When I called to schedule an appointment for the quote I was told that they could not fit me in for almost a month! I declined to wait that long for a simple quote and began my search again. I found Glendale Automotive, another A-Rated company. I called on a Thursday and they guy informed me I could bring my vehicle in the following week. I initially planned to take it in on that following Monday. Unfortunately I was unable to make it. During that same week, on Thursday I was driving past the shop and decided to stop in. They where very nice and able to schedule me for a quote the next day, (Friday, December 23, 2011). The lady I scheduled my appointment with informed me that it's more than likely they would not be able to fit me in until after the holidays. Nevertheless, they wanted to take a look at the breaks to let me know if I needed to have them changed immediately, for safety reason...whether or not they performed the service. I took my Volvo as scheduled, they examined the breaks, found that my pads where pretty worn down but that my rotors still had some "life" left in them. They offered to replace the breaks right then for $168. Quite a bit of a blessing not to have to dish out money for unnecessary expenses...especially during the holiday season. In closing, I realize that the quote provided by Volvo was for both breaks and rotors. Glendale's quote was based on breaks only. Therefore there is not a true comparison as it pertains to savings. However, I did appreciate what I felt like was an honest service quote...what was actually needed verses an inflated unnecessary additional service. Honestly is the difference. Finally, I also appreciated their concern of making sure I was well aware of any potential dangers of continuing to drive on the breaks I had...whether they serviced them or not. They fit me in that day and just in time for the snow! Thanks Glendale Automotive!

My 2003 Ranger was suddenly stalling in traffic and having a hard time keeping its idle speed up. After checking some internet forums and other sources, I thought I had nailed down the problem - a malfunctioning cam synchronizer (I think). Since the scope of the repair was outside my time, skill or abilities, I called Glendale - whom I've trusted with my auto repairs for several years now. I discussed the problem with Fred and a got a price range on the repairs based on my research. Like any good mechanic, Fred wouldn't commit to a diagnosis until he got his hands on the truck, but he did let me know that the issue was somewhat common for my vehicle. I took the truck to the shop in the evening and they called me the next morning to let me know that not only that the issue was what I beleived it to be, but also that the repairs would come in on the low end of the price range discussed. They had the truck ready that afternoon! Knowledgable mechanics, fast turnaround and an Angie's List discount on labor all added up to another great experience with this shop.

We asked Glendale automotive to repair the rear brakes, check and replace belts, hoses, flush the radiator, align the front end and basically check and top off fluids. It is a very busy garage but they were able to get our vehicle (full sized van) in that week.They found that our vehicle had bad upper and lower ball joints and recommended that they be replaced. Glendale automotive is an excellent auto repair store. We were thrilled with how our vehicle rode afterward and glad to know that we can safely drive it to Florida without worrying that it will break on our trip. We thought that the price was reasonable considering all of the work that was done, and we received a 10% Angie's list discount.

The work and staff at Glendale Automotive are always top notch.

It ended up being a turn signal switch. One thing I like about Glendale is that they are so honest. He probably could've taken me for a lot of money, but he found the cheapest way to fix the issue. They thought they fixed the issue the first time but it happened again and I had to come in a second time, but they didn't charge me for the second visit. I also had some service work done by Glendale prior to this visit including a 100K service timing belt replacement.

I was really impressed with Glendale. They evaluated the problem and made appropriate recommendations. They were very professional. They had to order the parts and expected them to arrive the next day. They suggested I leave the car with them so they could start the work. My son drives this car to and from college in Virginia and it is very important that the car is safe. He was due to leave that week. Glendale began the work that day and when the parts arrived the following morning they immediately worked on the car and called me at 9 am, telling me the car was ready! I was pleasantly surprised. All the staff at Glendale were friendly and professional. I would nominate them for a Super Service Award. Thanks, Glendale.

I took my truck in for a routine oil change, and some other mileage scheduled services. I had a concern about possible overheating and asked that the cooling system be checked and flushed if necessary. When the work was completed he reported that the cooling system seemed OK, there may be a thermostat issue in the future, but no need to replace it right now as it seems to be working OK. The work was done just as I had asked and done in a timely manner. My wife was able to pick the truck up at noon and run errands. Tip. This garage is pretty busy so it helps to schedule in advance when a job might be anticipated.

They were excellent. The car hasn't run this well since it was new. They did a super-good job. They were very polite and they take the time to talk to you to find out what is wrong with the vehicle. It's my wife's car. We always took the car to the dealer and I think they're more interested in making money than solving problems. The problems were never really fixed until now. They do excellent work and I'd recommend them to anyone.

I took my car to Glendale Automotive for an inspection of a timing chain replacement. I had been told by Firestone that my timing chain was bad and Firestone does not do engine repairs, so I needed to look elsewhere. I called around town to dealers and engine shops to get pricing for replacing a timing chain in my Nissan Altima. All the estimates were between $1100-$1200, so this is obviously a major repair. When talking to a friend he mentioned Glendale Automotive, I checked them on Angie's List to find great ratings all around. I dropped off my vehicle late morning, Fred drove me back home and then he drove the car back to his shop. Fred looked at the car and called me later in the afternoon. He said my engine was low on oil which is why the timing chain was making noise. He gave me an oil change, topped my fluids, and tire pressure and sent me on my way for $50. I am so grateful he is an honest mechanic. I'm sure plenty of shops would have told me I do in fact need a new timing chain and charged me the $1200. I highly recommend Fred & Glendale Automotive for honest, friendly, and good service!

When I called initially, they did not have an opening for several days. After listening to my description of the brake noise we were experiencing, the owner offered to move a few appointments around to get us in earlier (because he felt it was a safety issue). I really appreciated his flexibility. We took the car in the night before our appointment. They called before noon the next day to give us an estimate. The work was done early that afternoon. We felt that the price was very reasonable. We will definitely go back.

It was the best estimate I got from anybody. I’ve had some dealings with them before that didn’t involve money and I would go back. The first time I met the owner, he was new in business. My car was acting up and I knew I had to have something done to it because I was afraid it was going to die in the middle of the street. I was driving by his shop and I drove in and asked them to check out my car. He came out and opened up the hood. He looked around and he found a hose that wasn’t attached. He plugged it back in and this was a fixture problem. He didn’t charge me anything for it. I have sent people to him before. When I had to actually have something done for my car, they were the first ones I called. He quotes by the job and not by the hour. This particular job ended up taking twice the time that he estimated because they had to take the door apart to put the mirror back on. It was well over his estimated time but he didn’t increase his charges. I would use their services again in the future.

It was fantastic! I like that they were pleasant, knowledgeable, the pricing was excellent and they promised and delivered the car at a specific time. I will be going back again.

The phone was answered within three rings and I was greeted by the person on the other end. I asked about business hours and If they would be able to schedule a time to replace my brakes. He was very pleasant and gave me all the information I needed. I look forward to doing business with Glendale Automotive.

The service was great. They got us in quickly and worked around our hectic schedules. We asked that they perform the 60,000 mile check up and look into a vibration that was happening between 30 and 40 mph. Although they couldn't figure out the vibration problem, they gave us a couple of transmission experts to schedule an appointment with. And the price was less then what we expected. Great job all around!

Great..found a leaking radiator and a possible leak in the air conditioning system. Performed the work and let us know the problems that were found before doing the repair. We always feel comfortable that we are given an honest report and that work done will be done right. If not, you can always be sure Fred will make it right. On one other occasion, we had bought a headlight and were going to replace it ourselves. After having no luck, I stopped by and Fred gladly replaced it for us at no charge. Although we were expecting to pay a charge for this, Fred insisted there was no charge. That's great customer service!

I think that their prices are fair and their service is excellent. They are honest mechanics. I have even referred friends there and they have had good experiences. The people there are really good and take good care of their clients. They have done tire work for me before, tire replacement, tire rotation, balance and all manner of repairs as needed when they came up. I use them for practically everything and I prefer to go to them over a dealer. They are also friendly, likeable, and good at .communicating. They are open, honest, and easy to work with. They are good people. I have used them for years and I will continue to.

They are always reasonable and always do a good job. Sometimes they have even looked at my car but haven?t charged anything and I find that amazing. I always feel good about taking my cars there. They are also good at getting work done quickly. The people there always get the work done and are comforting. I trust them and am satisfied with their work. I always find their price to be comparable and feel they are actually little less than some places. The quality has been very good and we never had any problems. They are always good about responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism.

They seem to be very good. I was able to schedule the appointment with them within a day or two. They finished the work on time.

They were curteous and professional and straight forward. They were honest with me about what my car really needed to be safe isntead of the cheap quick fix. We ended up having to replace all my brake rotors, hoses, and rear brake pads. They had my car ready to go in a day.

Glendale Automotive were very friendly. They were thorough and honest. They don't overcharge and say you need additional work that isn't necessary.

They were great. We thought we would need a new alternator, but they fixed the problem easily. It a simply bad battery terminal.
