Description of Work: They painted the master bathroom and bedroom. Moved furniture and placed it back after they were through. There was a tiny accident which needed a drywall repair in the bedroom. They immediately got someone else in, who then repaired it! VERY hard working crew, meticulously painted and cleaned afterwards. GREAT JOB, "Five Star Painting"!

Description of Work: Five Star Painting came in and painted three different areas in our house. The four areas included a two-story foyer, hallway wrap into a set of stairs, up a set of two-story stairs, and then finally finishing up in the hallway of the entire second floor. Our house is approximately 2,600 square feet, and Walt's team painted about 40% of our home'e walls. Larry (owner/operator) came out and did the intiial bid. He was polite, courteous, responsive, and overall very easy to work with on this project. Walt is his project foreman on site everyday. Larry and Walt both came out the first day of work to assess the project and go over what was going to transpire during the entire project with us. I was on the way out the door, but they went over it with my wife and did not leave out any details. Unfortunately, our drywall needed a bit more prep work than previously discussed, but Walt and his team said they would take care of at no additional cost to the previous bid. Once work began, Walt's team was nothing but professional, courteous & hard-working in their execution of our project. They worked extremely hard the first full day on the project to try and get it done in a day. The prep work took a long time, so Walt's team kept us in the loop the entire time and they informed us around 4pm that afternoon that it would take longer than a day to complete (which was more than ok based on the attention to detail they performed). They worked the first day until around 8pm, and then came back the next day around 8am. The second day of work went off without a hitch until about 4pm that afternoon. Walt's crew let us know that one of the walls had some drywall issues that would need some extra time to cure properly. This was fine as we set up a time two days later to come back and take care of this fix. Walt's crew came back on a Friday afternoon to fix the drywall issue and was done in about an hour. The wall looks great where he did the patch and repaint job, and he blended the paint lines perfectly. Overall, Larry, Walt, and his team do outstanding work! Their attention to every aspect of the job should be noted and commended as some of the best I have ever come in contact with. Not only should you hire Larry and his team to complete your next painting/drywall project, but you should not even consider anyone else in the area before you give them a call. Make them your first call, and they should be your only call.

+ 0 moreLarry is great! He came out quickly to give me estimates and his estimates are extremely thorough. He spends time measuring and clarifying the extent of the project so once you get the estimate it is very clear what is going to be done. He was available for questions and really tried to work with me to get my business. I went with someone else who gave me a slightly better price which is of paramount importance when you are rehabbing but I have no doubt Larry would have done a great job. I hope I may be able to use him on a future project.

+ 0 moreFive Star Painting did a good job. We had some small details that needed to be done and they did come back and do it to our liking. There was great communication at all times with their team. Included was a paint color coordinator that helped us pick out paint colors.

+ -1 moreI call Five Star and spoke with Larry Harkleroad regarding the project and setting up an estimate. Larry was able to come out and quickly give me an estimate of the project. He made all measurements and then was able to send me the estimate via e-mail withing 24 hours. He was patient while I waited for other estimates. The estimate was not the lowest but was close to it and I was impressed by their professionalism. I needed to have them come out early as my wife and I both need to leave for work early. Larry himself came out early on the day of the project and we went over in detail what I wanted to be done. I initially thought they would not be able to do most of the repairs of cracks but on the morning of the project they said they thought they could. Additionally a portion of the ceiling would need to be repaired due to very old water damage. Larry had estimated the project would take one day. I had purchased the paint previously so that it would match with areas that had already been painted. Walter and his crew asked several additional questions to be sure I was getting what I wanted. I arrived home late that afternoon and they were not quite finished. The ceiling repair was more extensive than anticipated and took quite a bit more time. They would also need to come back the next day to re-paint that section and do a second coat on the stairs. They were very apologetic about this. The next day Walter showed up early to finish the job. I went to work and when I arrived home he returned and did a walk through completing any touch-ups that were necessary. He also wanted to make sure I knew that I could call them at any time to return if I noted more touch-up spots. They did not charge me extra for the time for completing the extra repairs or the extra half day of work. I would definitely use them again in the future and plan to with possibly painting the outside of my house.
Description of Work: Painting the walls and ceiling of a stairwell, landing, and hallway. My house is 120 years old and has high ceilings throughout including the stairway. Walls have a lot of flaws and cracks, as does the ceiling in spots. I did not want trim painted as it is stained.

I found 5 Star Painting on Angie's List, I called Larry, and he and his team were more than happy to help me. I was working on a short time frame with 60 guests coming for an outdoor party, and I had 2 shutters not matching because I couldn't get my longest ladder to stabilize in my flower bed! They were so gracious and understanding, and gave me more than a fair price. They finished a job early the day I called, and they were at my house by 2 pm (only 3 hours after my first call to Larry), and did a fantastic job. Thanks Larry and Walter!!

+ -1 moreThey started as planned on Monday, July 18 and completed the job on Friday, July 22. They painted the woodwork and all the walls except for the three bedrooms. Also fixed cracks in living room ceiling and painted that ceiling. Their work was outstanding and we would hire them again. One room that was painted was through Groupon.
Description of Work: We have hired them to paint all our woodwork. They were to have started the week of May 2, 2011 but I had to postpone it. They are to start the week of June 6. So far, they have been very easy to work with and seem very professional. I will report back after they have finished the job.

They had a color consultant work with us on the color that we were going to paint the house. They power washed the siding prior to painting and spray painted. This was all done while we were on vacation. It was totally done when we got home. They cleaned up after themselves and the house looks great.

Larry came that evening and went over the contract and collected the 20 % down. He said the job would begin on June 1. He assured us that Jill the color consultant would contact us about choosing colors. Jill came on May 31. She was able to help choose more modern colors for our home. Roger and his assistant arrived on June 1 and power washed the house. Roger and his crew arrived on June 2 and began working on the exterior of the home. The work on the exterior finished on June 4. Also on June 4 another crew arrived and did the interior painting. They did an excellent job preparing the walls before they began painting. All work was done by 5:00 on June 4. Larry came everyday to make sure that we were pleased with the work that was being done. Before payment, Larry walked around the house twice to make sure nothing had been missed.
Description of Work: Five Star Painting painted the exterior of our home plus the inside entryway, stairway and upstairs hall. They arrived on time each day and were very professional. We loved having the color consultant available. She was able to help with color choices. The house looks great!!! We would recommend them highly.

+ 0 moreLarry contacted us very soon after our initial request for an estimate. He set an appointment and was prompt in seeing us. He provided the estimate by email and responded to a couple of phone calls from us. After deciding the scope of the work he scheduled a time to pick color for wall and was helpful in picking the color and type of finish I wanted on the walls. The day was scheduled for painting and Larry was able to get to it a little earlier because I was having folks in for the weekend. The associates that came to the house to do the job were courteous, conscientious about cleaning up afterward and were very responsive if I had questions. All in all the experience was very good.
Description of Work: Stair way walls and ceiling were painted with minor repairs to the drywall.

+ 0 moreThe experience could not have gone better. I had already had 4 estimates before this one. Larry Harkleroad (owner) came out, did a thorough walk around of the house, took measurements, and asked what I was looking for (ie two coats, change in color, etc). His price was extremely competitive with the others, but he was more responsive AND offered the services of a decorator to help pick the colors. The crew came out on Friday, 11/5 to power wash. They arrived promptly on Monday morning, 11/8 and were totally finished on the afternoon of 11/10/10. From start to finish, they were on-time, clean and efficient. I changed the color of the cedar siding slightly to contrast from the window trim, and it looks wonderful. The painters were also very accommodating to the few changes I had to what they were doing. I work from home and there were times that I almost forgot they were there, that's how quiet they were. I am always wary of hiring out things like this because I always hear horror stories, but Larry and his crew confirmed that there are good folks and good companies out there, and this is one of them. Larry came by every day to check on how things were going and to see if I had any questions/concerns. I cannot say enough about how the overall experience went.
Description of Work: I bought my house a year ago. The upper portion (second story, A Frame section) was peeling and chipping, esp the trim. I knew I shouldn't go through the winter without having it painted.
