First Serve Cleaning & Restoration

I purchased a 'Big Deal' for 5 areas of steam-cleaned carpet and, after their arrival on the appointment date, I added a hallway for an additional $25. The provider contacted me the same day of purchase to schedule the appointment, and I was able to get the service date that I wanted. On the day of the appointment, the provider called approximately 60 minutes before the scheduled appointment time to advise they were en route and would arrive at the scheduled time, which they did. Upon their arrival, the 2 men introduced themselves. We reviewed the areas to be cleaned, including a few areas with pet urine stains. We didn't think they'd be able to get the pet stains out, but I asked them to do the best they could. One of the servicemen informed us they have a pet urine remediation treatment they could do, but I declined it because there was no guarantee it would work and I didn't want to pay the upcharge in addition to the $160 that I already paid. It took them approximately 1 hour to clean a large master bedroom, a large living room, a small bedroom, a hallway, a loft, and 13 carpeted steps. We expected it would take longer for that amount of space - and, even though there were 2 servicemen doing the job, we thought it was at least 90 minutes worth of work. When they were finished, and the carpets had dried, the carpets looked okay. As expected, the pet urine stains did not come out. But, surprisingly, the other carpeted areas didn't look renewed and "fluffy" like we thought they'd be. This carpet is only 3 years old, so other than the pet stained areas, we expected the rest of the carpet to look almost new again - but it doesn't. In 2012, we had the carpets steam-cleaned by a different service provider (now defunct), and the carpets looked brilliant afterwards. So, we were expecting similar results with this service provider, but were sadly disappointed. Lastly, the servicemen did provide shoe covers for us to wear, but we were surprised that they weren't wearing them - especially during the cleaning process.

Service truck arrived promptly and the technician walked through the house with me. At that time, I explained that we wanted the entertainment room, the sitting area and an upstairs bedroom scotchguarded since those areas have food and drink in them quite frequently. The entire job was to clean carpet in the equivalent of 7 rooms, a hallway and 15-step stairway. I asked them to make recommendations if they found other problems that I hadn't mentioned. I also asked that they take extra care to get rid of the dirt on the lip of the steps while they were cleaning and also the traffic pattern in the entry way to the master bedroom. I was told vacuuming was the most effective way to keep a traffic pattern from forming and to slow the process of dirt accumulation. The two technicians were quite courteous and went right to work. I had moved all the small and medium size furniture out of their way to make the job easier for them. They asked if I wanted furniture removed and I replied that I thought they didn't move furniture. I was told they would move small items if necessary. I replied that if I had missed something, i would appreciate if they would move it to clean the spot. The job was finished in about an hour and a half. I was told Scotch guard was applied where requested. I was instructed to turn on box fans if I had them to help dry the carpet, which I did in two rooms. Ceiling fans were also turned on if present. Immediately after the completion of cleaning, I noticed that some rooms had carpet that was wetter than others and some carpet already seemed to be quite dry with no direct correlation to the time the room was cleaned or whether it was scotch guarded. I was told at the conclusion of the cleaning how to test the carpet for dryness so that we would know when we could put the furniture back in its place, but that the carpet should be dry in 8 hours. At 8am the next morning, approximately 19 hours after cleaning was completed, portions of the carpet in some rooms were still wet. I noticed some orange-colored spots in a couple of locations in the TV room that had not been removed by the cleaning and I got out my own carpet spray and removed them. There were also some spots in the sitting area that were not removed by the cleaning, which I also cleaned myself. I also noticed a small plastic container on the floor in the office was in the same location as it was prior to cleaning, indicating to me that it had not been moved off the carpet while cleaning. In the four homes we have lived in, I have used several carpet cleaning companies that have provided comparable cleaning at a competitive price. I tried First Serve because they were on Angie's List; however, I see no advantage in price or quality with First Serve, even though I took advantage of their pricing special.

First serve carpet did an excellent job cleaning all my carpets. They were very personable and professional from the time they arrived til they left. They did a thorough job! I would definitely refer them to a friend. A+ job all around!

Provider did an excellent job and gave us an honest assessment of the quality and remaining "life" of carpet in various areas. One of the best part of the "deal" is that there was no room size limitations.

We just received a phone call from Todd Francis, the owner operator of First Serve Carpet Cleaning explaining why the price was $155.00 for the 4 rooms. I feel better after talking with Todd about a solution in the future when we call them to clean our carpet again. I want to make a retraction to my earlier review. Glen (technician) was really nice and professional. I wish I had asked for an estimate before the cleaning. My fault!!

It was a good experience and they did good work. They were nice and respectable and I would recommend them. They were courteous and their price was definitely competitive.

These guys were fantastic! We purchased this deal for a home that we were getting ready to move into. We had one large room in the basement which counted as 2 rooms plus 3 other areas, so this deal was perfect for us. They were very efficient and the rooms smelled so clean afterwards. Would definitely hire this company again!

Very well. They arrived when they said they would. Went right to work, were friendly and professional.

They were on-time, pleasant, asked questions to clarify/confirm what we wanted done. They told me how long it would take for them to complete everything and they helped me move some of the furniture too. We were cleaning the carpets for the arrival of our baby. If I had more for them to do I would have had them do more work. They were outstanding!!! I am very pleased and I will certainly have my carpets cleaned annually by this group.

Very professional, punctual and explained everything. Also since I didn't really need an entire room done, he was kind enough to just do the area I needed but then took money off of the urine treatment to make up for the flat fee I paid. Extremely nice to work with.

They were wonderful! They were knowledgeable about the carpets and what their service could actual remedy. They were efficient and wonderful to work with. I would highly recommend their services to others.

They were very punctual and accommodating. Unfortunately, I was not generally impressed with the quality of service. They were unable to lift several stains and with one in particular, the chemicals/equipment utilized made the stain more apparent. This was a new-home move-in and the carpet clearly needs replaced. I had hoped the cleaning may offer a stay, but in the end, the carpet did not look as though it had been cleaned at all.

Great. Scheduling was easy, they arrived on time and the carpets look great.

The work isn’t completely done yet, but they have been very responsive so far. I had a “carpet spill emergency” and they were able to come out the next day to take care of it. The price was reasonable given how quickly they came out. I look forward to having them back out to do the whole house!

Prompt, courteous and professional. Glenn and Jonathan arrived on the time scheduled. They reviewed our order, room by room, and went to work. Carpets were cleaned and treated for pet stains. When finished, carpets looked great and almost new, even in high traffic areas.

They did a very nice job of cleaning my carpet and I was very pleased. I didn't pay any additional above the Big Deal that I purchased.

The two guys were very friendly and professional. They explained the process and answered all questions. I was hoping for a few more stains to be removed but I new they wouldn't look perfect since they are about 12years old. Overall, everything look pretty good.

They showed up as scheduled and went straight to work. I have 3 small children and had many stains through out on my beige carpet. My carpets are STAIN FREE now! They did a great job and it look fabulous. I will be using them in the future, Great Company!

The gentlemen arrived on time, got right to work and did a great job on our carpets! They were barely damp when they left, and we're completely dry within a few hours. They got the stains out in the high traffic areas, removed the pet stains and freshened the carpets. Great deal on Angie's List too!

Amazingly fast response through Angie's List messaging .. on a SUNDAY! We didn't need them immediately so set the date for 6/23. The crew called when they were about 40 minutes away and arrived on time. Professional and courteous. All the work was carried out in approximately 1 1/2 hours. Both the operators were informative and obviously experienced. We are very pleased with the result and would certainly use this company again.

Cleaners arrived on time and finished the job quickly. The carpets looked good afterward. My one and only small complaint was that rather than have both men lift chairs from the kitchen to the family room, one started on the basement floor while the other tried to move the chairs back by himself, which led him to drag the chairs across the trim board between the two rooms, leaving several small scratches on the board. But aside from that, I was pleased with the overall service, price and result.

It was fine. They did what they said they would do. They cleaned up after themselves pretty well. They were on time. Two cleaners came out.
