I went to Bicycle Garage thinking I only had to get my brakes on one bike fixed and the put air in the tires on the other bike. The back brakes were rubbing against the back tire; I didn't know it was the tire that needed to be realigned. Matt, in the Service department, was very nice and informative. He put the first bike up on the jack and immediatly knew I left my bike outside. He performed all the services required to fix the brakes and realign the tires on both bikes, explaining the damage I've caused to the bikes by leaving them outside. He then applied lubricant to the joints, springs, and chain to prevent them from rusting and working smoothly. He also told me that we weren't putting air in our tires often enough and the green stuff in the tires were hardening in the valves on one bike making it hard for him to put air in the tire. . He sold me the last bottle of lubricant and showed me how to apply it to the bike. He didn't charge me for any of the services to fix my bikes and told me I would need to take better care of them or, eventually, I'll have to buy new bikes

The guy was able to diagnose the problem very quickly while I was holding my baby in my arms. He said I could take a work order and that they couldn't get it in till Sept 6th. I must have looked sad because he then said that he would check to see if they could fit me real fast today. He said they could and they fixed the chain and didn't even charge me for labor. I took my bike to a competitor yesterday and they said I needed a chain and a few other things. I probably saved around $120.00. They were very nice.

I met with Frank Radiker who did the professional fitting. He takes his time and works through each point of adjustment and then tests your efficiency while riding. He makes adjustments to insure you have maximum power output and an efficient pedal stroke.

Great. They work well with you to find the bike that fits your needs. I was going from a hybrid to a faster road bike and was a little worried about comfort. With their help I am now a cyclist.

The bike took longer than expected. but the work was great. I am happy to have my 10 year old bike in such great condition

This is a summary of several visits to BGI over the last several months. After visiting several other bike shops in the area, I have foound my favorite shop - BGI. The have a great inventory and are a pleasure to work with for my biking needs.

They had a nice showroom, and their sales staff was pretty low pressure. I do think their prices are little high; but they have really good service. They also send me a bunch of follow-up emails after I made the purchase that will talk about how to take care of the equipment and when to have it serviced that is like a value added thing.

They are competent. The technicians are able to explain their choices very well. Their workmanship is of high quality. They tend to take a while to check the whole bike. They are always willing to do those small things. They carry wide range of inventory for sale. They a pretty much a family owned business. The sales team is also excellent. They are very good about fixing the bike. Their service is excellent. They are probably on the more expensive side, but when you look at value for money they are good. They deliver back the bikes on time. I have been their customer since 1987, and I have been very happy with their service.

I had to go into the store four times to get everything straightened out, but in the end it was worth it. I recently acquired an old bicycle that needed new tires and tubes. I went to BGI and bought 27 inch tires and tubes. These tires were too small for my bike. I went back and asked a salesperson about it, and was given a second set of tires. These were also too small. I brought back one of the wheels, with the old tire and the new tires I had bought. Patrick, one of the bike mechanics, was able to help me out. He determined that the tires I had were the wrong size, and because I'd been in the shop so many times to fix the problem he would order the correct size tires (which were the same cost as the tires I'd already purchased) and swap them for me for free. I dropped off my old wheels and tires and a few days later got a phone call to pick them up. Now the bike is ridable and I'm a happy customer. I will definitely be returning to BGI again soon.

Annual overhaul went just fine.

I spent $50 on that work. They have a good selection but tend to me one of the more expensive places for bicycle equipment. They are not my first choice. I will use them only if another place does not have what I needed.

They were able to make an appointment that was convenient for my schedule. We knew there was a problem with the walker but I got interrupted before I could explain it to the service man. He had diagnosed and fixed the problem before I got back to explain it to him. He also did a thorough cleaning and overhaul of the walker. He looked at the bike, which didn't have any problems, and made a couple of suggestions for keeping it more stable, which were very helpful.

The young man at the service desk tried to get me done "while I waited". As simple fixes eluded him, and the Saturday crowd began to swell, he wrote me up and I left the bike hoping to pick it up a few days later. They called the next day, and the bike was ready. For the first time in a long time, I truly felt this business really gave me more than I paid for... Will definitely come again...

I've always had excellent service at BGI North. I work with sales rep, Adam Haines and Josh Prater always performs excellent service work on my bikes.

The mechanics serviced my bike and put it in like new condition. I know that when I get work done at BGI the work will be of the highest quality. I trust my bike to the experts at BGI and I do most of my shopping for bike gear there.

Their quality is one of the best in town! Their prices are higher than others, but their quality makes-up for the cost. The mechanics are high-end and the service is exceptional. I trust my bike with these people. They are always responsive and very customer-serviced orientated.

Great! I dropped the bike off late on Friday afternoon, they said they would have it done the following Wednesday. They called on Tuesday reporting that they would be done. The mechanic said that I needed a new cassette (the gears on the back wheel). He had noted that I used the bike for commuting and asked me if I ever used the lower gears on the original cassette, he said that he could replace it with a cassette geared more for the road riding that I do (instead of the fitness trail/cyclocross gearing the bike came with). The bike looks like it is brand new and rides and shifts better than it did when it was brand new. I bought the bike new for $700 5 years ago, $240 will get me another 5 out of this bike. Great JOB!

I have used BGI for years. What I love about their service department is that they are very knowledgable and they don't try and sell you service you don't need. They ask you how you use your bike, and tell you the pro's and con's of various service options. In all my years of dealing with them, they have never tried to sell me more than was required. More often, they tell me that I don't really need a particular type of service yet and that I can afford to wait. I put over 5k miles on my bike each year, so I need to have a service provider I can trust. BGI has never let me down. I know that I can trust them for good quality work and to tell me what is really going on with my bike. If you are thinking about multiple options for service, you can stop looking around. I have shopped around, and nobody is as good as BGI.

I had busted the derailer while out riding on a beautiful Saturday morning. I took the bike into the shop for repair and my particular derailer was not in stock. They fixed me up with a really nice rental bike, changed my clipless pedals to the rental, and I was on my way in under 20 minutes. I enjoyed the rest of the afternoon riding the bike as well as several additional days until the repair was completed (by the promised date). It's evident the owner of the bike shop has high confidence in his employees. They can make the call on the spot without involving the manager on how to properly address a customer problem/concern. Front to back it was an excellent experience! This bike shop truly understands customer service. The staff, both service and retail, go above and beyond in meeting customer expectations. Although I am writing about only one experience, it is the same each and every time I visit this shop. I won't even bother going into other bike shops because of the total value I get both during and after the sale!

Josh Prater knows the kind of riding I do and recommended the replacement tires. Troy Howell did the work quickly and made some other adjustments while he had the bike on the stand. The mechanics are all well qualified and make an effort to match their recommendations to your riding style.

The bicycles are of great quality, prices are reasonable, especially if you buy during their clearance event, however their customer service is less than adequate. I felt as though I was viewed as a novice idiot with no clue about bikes. I was very ignorant when it came to purchasing my first bike – I had only done a little research, and I was overwhelmed when I went to choose a bike for my husband’s birthday - but it is unacceptable that my feelings of ignorance should be validated by the salesperson. When I returned to purchase a bike for myself at their clearance sale, I was again treated like I was unimportant. You won’t see me riding down the road on my thousand dollar bike with a light on my helmet and bike shorts, but I am still a customer and deserved to be treated with respect. This was not an isolated occurrence by only a few people. It was many different people – at several different times. We took our bikes in to have a tune-up and again given the “BGI treatment.” We could have purchased our bikes from any other bike shop in Carmel or Indianapolis – and next time – we will!

Their price and service was great. We had no problem. We would use them again.

During course of maintenance was advised that rear wheel was cracked in a couple places and should be replaced. Special ordered from out of state. Initially told battery they would replace Polar cadence sensor. When I picked up the bike with loaner wheel I was told battery was not replaceable. Ordered a new sensor for $49. Would take over a week for new wheel and rebuild. Was offered a loaner wheel for weekend so I could get in some ride mileage in preparation for Hilly Hundred bike ride. All work completed as promised when. A day after getting bike I was reading service manual for the "new" cadence meter. It specifically said and showed how to replace the battery. I had purchase a new meter for no reason. That same evening I received an online survey from BGI. I explained how the service and maintenance were great but I was upset with having to buy a new cadence meter, when initially told they could replace the battery. I suggested that I be issued a store credit or gift certificate. 2 days later I received a very apologetic and gracious phone call at work immediately refunding to my credit card the cost of the sensor. Fully agreed with my claim. Great service work which had turned sour had been easily resolved without any additional intervention by me.
