Response from Arlington Auto Center, Joe's Battery & Import
First, and foremost, our policy is never to remove or replace anything from a customer’s vehicle without first receiving their authorization. We are to address a customer’s concerns by gaining as much information as possible; analyze the vehicle; and make recommendations that the customer can afford which is both safe to them and the public at large. We are always interested in hearing where we can improve our services, or address a customer’s concerns and attempt to reach a mutually agreeable resolution. However, it is only fair that we first be given the opportunity to address the concerns, without resorting to other means and then trashing us in a public manner. Although it is their freedom to do so, I do not believe it is a fair approach. This particular review writer never came into the shop. The only person that was ever dealt with was a male, presumably the review writer’s husband and/or owner of the vehicle in question. Therefore, anything stated by the review writer is not by first hand knowledge. This review writer phoned our shop and left a voice mail after (presumably) having just been at the dealer. During this voice mail, the review writer threatened that if we did not do something about the situation, she would be writing a bad review with Angie’s List, contacting the BBB, etc. The day after receiving the voice mail, I attempted to contact the person who brought the car into the shop (by leaving a voice mail message), as they would have been the one we dealt with. No return phone call was received until after several days (and certainly after this review had been written). I then attempted a second time to reach the review writer the day she called (as I was not in the shop when she did call back), but was unable to reach her. I again called that evening, after hours, and was unable to reach her. The work performed on this customer’s vehicle was over nine months ago and recollection of any specific statements made during our conversations with the person who brought in the car are sketchy at best. As admitted to by the review writer, a discussion took place regarding the part in question. Therefore, something was discussed about the part in question with the person who brought in the vehicle. However, it was never with the review writer. The review writer and myself finally discussed her concerns about what took place with her vehicle. Despite our policy and the unlikely event that we removed parts without discussing it with the person who brought in the vehicle, I invited the review writer to return her car to the shop and we would replace what has been removed. To date, she has neither brought her car to us nor has she mentioned anything in her review about this offer of resolution. Although it is unlikely that we removed parts without discussing it with the person who brought in the car, the review writer did present some points that would help prevent this situation from happening in the future and will be implemented. Our goal is to provide the best service possible at a competitive rate while completing the recommended services in a timely manner. We pride ourselves on being honest with our customers, at times at the expense of lost sales and we often provide free services where our competition charges. We are more concerned with repeat business then the sale for that day.
