Troy-Built Wood Decks

He was great and wonderful. He seemed very thorough and knowledgeable and if I ever needed to have a deck designed then I would definitely call him. My job was very small so I didn't feel like a small job like the one I needed done was worth it for him to do it. He was nice and polite and I would definitely use him again if I needed it.

Everything went great. Troy was great to deal with, and the guys he had working on the project did an extraordinary job. The deck was about 20 feet off the ground so it was a complicated project, but once they started, the guys were here 10 hours a day working on it. I signed the contract and went out of town, and upon my return found that it was almost done. It looks amazing and adds an incredible amount of value to our home.

We did not use this Company as it took so long to get their proposal back we had already decided to go with another company. Their price ended up being the highest of the 3 proposals we received.

We met with the owner of the company to discuss our ideas for the deck design. During the meeting, we went over layout options, available decking materials, time lines, and pricing. Two drawings were presented to us for consideration. After choosing a deck design and determining what materials would be used for the construction, we signed a contract and put down a $100.00 deposit. Approximately two months elapsed between our first meeting and the start of construction. The deck was built within a calendar week. We are very happy with the quality of the work and the professionalism of all involved. Prior to and during construction, we received updates on the status of the project, and we were told in advance the precise cost of the deck. We were also told in advance when the project would begin and how long construction would take -- all promises were met. The finished product is a beautiful deck!

We chose Troy because of his attention to detail as we talked over the project. He gave us a good feeling that he knew what he was doing and would do the job right. One thing we were concerned about was the new roof tie-in to the existing house. The tie-in intersected two other roof lines. Troy's discussion about it made us feel confident that it would get done right. Troy was already booked out a couple of months so he suggested we use his crew headed up by his uncle Jim. He assured us that Jim would do a great job and that he was fast (which we didn't really care so much about). We decided to use Jim. The project wound up being completed while I was on a business trip and I had to leave the project up to my wife to monitor. For future projects, I will be there myself. I say this because it is easier to make changes while it is being built, I enjoy seeing the progress and I could have saved my wife some stress. The end product turned out very well. Jim told us when he started that the addition would look like it was original to the house and not an add-on. He was absolutely correct. We are happy with the finished product, the workmanship and the composite material (Azek). I would change one thing. I assumed Jim would install the ledger board by cutting out the siding, attaching the ledger board to the house and then water proofing with flashing. Instead, Jim attached the ledger board directly to the siding and there is no way stop water from seeping down between the ledger board and the siding possibly creating mold and rot problems. Had I been there for the project while it was being installed, I'm sure Troy would have been happy to change it the way I wanted it.

Troy was excited to do something new - and that made it more of a fun project for us. His team came on time, never late - the workmanship was outstanding. They left the job site neat.

Troy responded quickly to my initial call, scheduled a visit to come and discuss the project, and showed up promptly at the scheduled time. He took time to look at my existing deck and discussed with me what I wanted in my rebuilt deck. After looking at pictures of previous projects and discussing my tastes, he drew a proposed plan and costs for that plan before leaving my home the first evening. Over the next couple of weeks we discussed some changes and finalized the plan and the estimate. Work started on the exact date that he said it would (he was scheduling about 8 weeks out at the time), and took the exact amount of time and cost the exact amount he indicated on his first visit. Troy and his crew were very professional- they showed up on time every day, cleaned up after themselves every evening, and Troy followed up with me a few days after the project was completed to see how I thought everything looked. My deck is gorgeous, and my friends and neighbors have all noticed.

Great! He came out to give us a quote and drew a design while he was here. It was on a Saturday too. He was very responsive in getting back to me when we were working out the details before we hired him. He worked on our time schedule. They started right after Thanksgiving and were done right before Christmas. They worked everyday-except a few when it rained/snowed and they cleaned up every night. The work is superb. We haven't had the chance to enjoy it yet. He even added a bar for us. He did a great job. It looks excellent. His uncle who assisted Troy was in construction for years so he knew what he was doing. There was one point where he redid the railing because he didn't like the way it looked. We thought it looked fine-so he is a perfectionist. But that's what you want when you hire someone.

It was a great experience. We won't even get estimates from other companies! Troy is the best of the best.

Troy quickly responded to an email regarding his services and came out within a few days to review our project needs. He showed photos of some of his previous work, and we showed Troy some photographs of different balconies that contained design elements which we wanted incorporated into the deck. Troy reviewed our requirements and made several suggestions and recommendations that were included in the design. Troy was very helpful in the materials selection process. The final design included composite flooring, perimeter edging, and posts, and galvanized steel railings. Troy and his team did an excellent job and cleaned the area after each days work. They started and completed the work on schedule and I highly recommend Troy-Built Wood Decks.

They were prompt and they did what they said they would do. They did an excellent job. They had good clean-up and they were gentleman. The work was better than expected.

They designed and built a platform with a ramp that is under a tall deck on the back of our house. This was wasted space before. The ramp is great, since we will use it to move items onto the platform for seasonal storage. Troy is really excellent at making his design work and it looks great too!

Troy was the first of several Angie's list vendors to provide a quote. He showed up the same day and was very quick. He offered the best price and was very flexible as we worked on the design. Between the time we agreed on a plan and when he came to build the deck, the manufactured decking product I had selected became unavailable. Troy worked with me to pick an alternative and adjusted the price accordingly. Even though I spent more, it was worth it to get an even better product. Troy and his two guys showed up as planned and began building the deck. They were quick and kept the work-site neat and left it in good shape. They finished on time. The final product is great. I'd definitely hire Troy again.

Troy did an absolutely fantastic job. Many contractors don't follow through with what they say they are going to do, but Troy and his crew did. Why I chose Troy was because of his attention to detail. He wanted to make sure that we were both on the same page throughout the process and that no detail was overlooked and that we covered all bases. In other words, he properly set expectations and made sure that he met those expectations, this is a great way to do business and I personally recommend him for anyone else looking to use any services Troy offers. He also had an electrician who he recommended that also does handy man type work in addition which I have started using as well, they are a great combo!

I am very satisfied. Rather than simply rebuilding the deck (which was suffering from age and dry rot), Troy made several suggestions for improvement. Of the three A-rated contractors whom I asked for quotes, he was the only one for spent time with me going over what I wanted and what he suggested. In addition to the deck work I requested, he also did some minor work on two unrelated items, at no additional charge. He took a lot of pride in his work, even taking pictures when it was done, worked carefully, communicated well and responded patiently to my frequent questions.

They were able to start the work a day earlier than scheduled. They did everything exactly the way we wanted including the rail and lattice work. They were very flexible with a basic plan and they were able to construct what I had visualized. Out of four quotes, their price was right in the middle. He sounded like he really knew what he was talking about.

Troy came out initially just a few days after our initial call to do our quote and show us his work. My wife and I were quite impressed with the photos that he showed us and with what he said he could do as far as decorations, trim, etc. for the same price as others for this job. Once we had decided to hire him to do the work we had to wait several months for him to get started. Our estimated start date was pushed back a few times from what he had originally told us. He kept telling us to not worry that we would be happy that we waited. Once started it took approximately 1 1/2 weeks to finish. We were quite impressed with the end result despite having had to wait for so long. We did have a few minor things repaired a few weeks later. He was out just a few days after our initial call about this and promptly fixed everything. Troy and his team were very professional and courteous and we would highly recommend him to anyone who can wait on him. He and his team do great work.

Excellent service, excellent product.

We are very pleased with the result. Troy came out and we discussed with him our plans for the deck. He submitted detailed drawings (that we could take to the Homeowner's association and permit office) a few days later. Unlike other contractors we contacted, Troy came out quickly, submitted a bid quickly, and arranged for a sub-contractor to start the job quickly. The sub-contractor, Barry Nevins, did an excellent job for us. He went beyond the basic plan and added a nice door into the lattice around the bottom of the deck. He took exceptional care and pride in his work. He kept us informed every step of the way when something came up that could impact the work. He was very courteous and professional at all times and was considerate of our yard and house. He cleaned up after the days work and took steps to ensure the worksite was safe at the end of the day. When the inspector had some minor issues, Barry took care of them immediately and paid for the cost of a re-inspection.

I was very pleased with the work. They did a great job.

It went Great! Troy came out and gave us an estimate and worked hard to complete the project on-time despite the rain we had since I was having people over the weekend after the estimated completion date. He was able to take our idea and turn it into exactly what we wanted and suggested touches that would add to the design. We were not home during the construction of our deck, however our neighbors was and came over at the end to tell us that he could tell that they were putting a lot of time into the building of it and really took care to make sure it was right; he said that it was not just thrown together, which you are always worried about when you are not actually there to watch the work.

I would use him for everything because he was so precise and professional. We made changes and he didn't even flinch. He helped us decide what we wanted by drawing out his plan to explain it better. His disposition was very warm, almost like he was a neighbor.

I had been trying for months to have an arbor and picket fence replaced. Fence companies could not or would not do an arched arbor. Carpenters didn't want to (or lacked equipment) to remove old fence posts. Troy came in and said "no problem" even primed it for me. Worked with ease.
