+ -1 moreI contacted Bee Window to obtain a quote for a bay window replacement. They had installed all new windows in our upstairs about 10 years ago. When I called they had no record that I was a previous customer and were insistent that my husband be present for the measurement appointment. It was only after I insisted that I speak with a manager that they agreed to send someone to meet with me. The salesman that they sent was very pleasant and answered all of my questions. I also asked about one of our previously installed windows that had become foggy. He said that it could be repaired but I would have to take it out and bring it in. He told me that he would need to go back to the office to run the numbers and we scheduled a second meeting to obtain the quote. I scheduled it for Friday evening so that my husband could be present. He did not show, he called about an hour after the appointment was to have started and apologized saying that he was tied up with another appointment. He told us that he could be there in about one half hour, he still did not show. My husband and I get very few free Friday nights, and we spent this one waiting on appointment that never came. The salesman did continue to call to try to reschedule but at this point I did not feel comfortable working with them. I contacted Pella Windows, scheduled my appointment online, the salesman met with me (only) and was able to give me a quote before he left, the entire meeting took about one half hour. Furthermore, Bee Window had stated that they would have to replace the entire window and roofing system, Pella was able to replace the window leaving my roofing system (which is fine) in place. I have neighbors who have used Bee and been very happy with them, but I did not have that same experience.
Description of Work: I did not have them install my windows, they only came out to do measurements, the salesman missed the second appointment in which he was going to give me the quote and I decided to go with a different company.

+ -1 moreThe quote was $8,000 for five windows and two doors...nothing fancy, really!!! I own a number of properties and would certainly go broke with this pricing. I said no thanks, and have never called BEE Window for a quote since.
Description of Work: I recieved a quote from BEE Window for a very small house with three windows approx. 30" x 30"; two windows under 27" x30", and two 6ft. sliding glass doors, all basic vinyl consturction with double paned glass.

Their windows are priced more than your standard replacement windows, but they are high R factor and have made a huge difference in the comfort of the rooms where we have had them installed. We are incrementally replacing all of our homes original windows and doors and we will go back to them for all of these replacements. The salesmen will work with you to quote whatever your needs and the install price has never been anything other than the original quote.

+ -1 moreThe company missed the scheduled date of the appointment we had with them and they didn't even call. Then they called the next month to confirm a different date for the appointment. Then they said they wouldn't come because my husband would be out of town which he is most of the time.
Description of Work: Within hours of signing up for a contest, an employee of Bee Window set up a date to come out to house to give estimate to replace main floor windows. They had told us 6 months before this that they wouldn't come all the way down to Bloomington from Indianapolis and now they would now that we had signed up for a contest. .

+ -1 moreFirst 10 waiting to be replaced due to cracked mainframes caused by improper installation. They started on 9/6/2010-present(Still waiting for job to be finished as of 3/12/2011. Several repeated appointment cancellations. Broken window trim, & broken siding that needed fixed. Owner(Pam Faerber) unresponsive to customer service.Total lack of puncuality and customer support. Long delays & lateness. "F" still waiting six months later for windows to be fixed,and damage due to window leaks to be fixed. All caused by improper installation.
Description of Work: Total home window installation(11 windows) ten installed 9/6/2010,eleventh sometime in November. + -1 moreEstimate was accurate and complete. Work was completed according to the timetable presented (three days). Went above and beyond to keep us from being too inconvenienced. Craftsmanship was excellent, and results were beyond what I had expected. Before they left, everything was cleaned and ready to restock my cabinets. The detail work was wonderful. I can't say enough about the gentlemen who transformed my kitchen from the 1970s into the 21st century!
Description of Work: Kitchen cabinet refacing (hired through Home Depot). Involved sanding down old cabinets, refacing with wood veneer, replacing all drawers and drawer hardware (and adding drawers where needed), replaced all doors and hardware.

+ -1 moreWe had several estimates and every sales pitch was the same. They start with a high price, but if you buy now you'll get 50% off...blah, blah, blah. We were more concerned with the product and how it would look and function in our home. Renewal by Anderson was certainly not the cheapest by far, but for quality, they are great. Bee Window had me choose the stain color (the interior is not wood, but a composite that can be stained to look like wood) and they did a fantastic job staining the interior. We love the windows and are very happy with how they look and function. The two installers (I think their names were Nick and Steve) showed up on time, worked very hard, cleaned up after themselves, and were respectful of our home. They actually worked into the evening and during a heavy snow both days to complete the installation. We had a big problem at our prior home about 10 years ago with an estimate from Bee Window. The salesman was rude and let me know he didn't want to speak to me without my husband. He eventually walked around and looked at our house, but complained the whole time and kept making little comments - basically telling me I wasn't qualified to make that big of a decision by myself. Needless to say, they did not get our business. I really wanted the Anderson windows and decided to give them another chance; however, I told them upfront of my past experience and that I would NOT put up with that again. This time around was much better and they were very careful not to repeat the past, which I appreciated. With the weather and temperatures we've had this winter, we couldn't be happier with the performance of our new windows!!
Description of Work: We had 19 wood windows replaced with Renewal by Anderson windows.

Description of Work: Bee Window removed all of the old windows from my property and replaced them with new, high efficiency windows. The initial service started with a couple of sales reps visiting my home and presenting various options for new windows. Upon choosing a window style an install date was quickly established and the service was performed on time. In one day, all the old windows were removed and replaced with new ones. The old windows were hauled away by Bee Window as part of the service and the work areas around/in the house were thoroughly cleaned after the job.

+ 0 moreI phoned to make an appointment for someone to come to my home and give me an estimate on replacing my entry door and sidelights. After they had taken all my personal information, I was then told that they would not come out to give the estimate unless my husband was available also. I told them that he's at work and I am dealing with all the estimates. Once I've received estimates from all the companies I've had round, then my husband and I would decide on which company we would use. I was told again that they would not come to my home unless my husband was there also, because they said my husband would have different questions to mine and they don't want to come back out to do another estimate!!!! I told them I knew what we both wanted and I just needed an estimate. I was then put on hold and transferred to another person, who told me the same thing, unless my husband is there they are not coming to give an estimate! I find this absolutely ridiculous and their approach to customer service totally disgraceful. They will not receive any of my business now or in the near future!!

They were very noninvasive concerning the scope of the work. It was a difficult install and I knew that. The level of their work was very high. I will be using them again.

gutter repair
+ -1 moreOverall, we have told Bee that the gutters need to come down and be rehung. We have requested a new installer although I beleive the original installer did the best he could considering he seems to be a one man team. They don't seem to have enough installers doing their jobs from what we were told. We have also told the contact person at Bee that as far as we are concerned the Gutter Monsters can come down and they can refund our money. They prevent the drainage of the water into the gutter, they don't seem to be installed correctly over the gutter allowing for correct drainage. With the ice, nothing could melt into the gutter because the Monster held the ice in position on top of the roof. Don't but them they are a waste of money. We had planned on window replacement as well, but thankfully we found another company after all the problems we had with Bee we will not be returning.
Description of Work: The project of replacement guttering and installation of their popular gutter monster was started on July 29 and the problems with this installation is still going on as of today 2/22/2011. On the first day we had two installers, every day after that the installation was done by only one man. We found out later that the second helper was really the Faeber's gardener. One man normally could do a gutter job, but we have an extraordinary footage of guttering and it was really too big a job for one man. That is why the job ended up taking several weeks. From the first rain on in Sept. we have had issue with these gutters not draining. The gutters are not hung correctly. Bee has sent the installer out several times since and he has attempted to correct this but each correction creates a new issue. He ended up cutting nearly 1" off the back side of long length of gutter in order to try to make it work. Finally we did get drainage and thought problem was resolved. Until weather got cold mid January, we found that too much of the water was still remaining in the gutter and not draining. This was causing a water backup behind our facia board. We called Bee and they claimed the problem was with insufficient insulation in our attic to allow melting and was going to send someone else out, that never happened. I sent pics which were forwarded to the Faeber's without response. The inside corners of our gutters had up to 4ft in icicle and barely any drainage at all in the downspouts. Feb. 3 the ice storm and major issue with ice and no drainage. We had large amounts of water behind facia, behind electrical outlets outside and leaking around several windows inside. Again we called Bee. They said it was all ice storm related like everyone else (the pics were sent to them weeks prior to this ice storm). New pics were sent to them since there had been no response and again there is no response after nearly 3 weeks.

+ 0 morePlans for the enclosure had to be submitted and approved to the homeowners assoc.and county, which Bee Windows did that for us. Once financing was complete, enclosing our back patio and turning it into a beautiful sunroom began. Concrete was poured very professionally with considerations of the owner. Then our sunroom was completed by an excellent, experienced installer. He worked in difficult weather and always consulted the owner on daily progress. I can't brag enough about the installer, We are very pleased with the results. The sunroom is insulated and sealed very well. We have used it daily since, even during the ice storm.
Description of Work: Our back patio was already roofed, and floored. The contract was to reinforce the footings, and use Four Seasons windows to enclose it into a sunroom.

+ 1 moreI can't say enough good things about them. I had used them before in the past and was so happy that I called them up first to see about enclosing my patio area and new entry door. Of the estimates I received, they were the least expensive. They really go out of their way to help with the small things. For example, I had a storm door previously installed on the front door, but it was poorly installed by another contractor. The service man from Faerbers worked for probably 2 hours trying to improve the storm door that was incorrectly installed by the other person. He then completed his job of installing the new entry door, which I purchased from them. I was never charged the labor for the additional 2 hours of work fixing the mistake by the previous contractor. I would highly recommend Faerber's Bee Window to others in the area!
Description of Work: They enclosed my screen porch with glass, and installed a new storm door. They also installed a new entry door on the front of my home.

+ -1 moreMy home security system is hooked to all of my windows. I was supposed to have them removed the night before they were coming to install the new windows the next day. I tried to get someone to take care of the alarms, but by the time he showed, Faerber's was already in my home, knew how to disable and remove the alarm system from the windows, and were working on installing the new windows. They weren't too concerned and said it happens all of the time. I was so relieved that they were understanding, and could also help me to keep the window installation on schedule. Their price was a bit high, but I chose them because the quality of their windows is excellent. Of the estimates I received, their price was the mid-range.

If you call them and ask for an estimate, then they will come out and give you an estimate because they are a good company. Their responsiveness was good. I would use their services again.

+ -1 moreThe estimate was twice as much I got from a Pella window dealer. I said that was too much and he immediately said if you sign today I'll cut that price in half just like a used car salesman would. He also was bashing Pella windows and telling me how the wood in them rots and the warranties are worse than his windows. Turns out they are the same warranty basically after my research online. I called him up to tell him I was going with Pella windows and he tried to cut the price again. I would never use this company after the way they handled the whole situation and their unprofessionalism. I also later found that the Pella windows are not stuffed with wood like he said. When we were talking about selecting the windows and glass he told me a certain one would fall under the IRS tax rebate for energy efficient windows. I saw in their own literature that they didn't in fact fall underneath the regulations of the IRS. He called the office to check and they told him he was wrong, so that means he didn't even know his product line.
Description of Work: I had him out to give an estimate on replacement windows in my living room, dining room, and kitchen.
