After reviewing our yard, mulch beds, bushes and trees, Ryan left and stated he would follow up with a written proposal in a day or two. Well, we never heard from him so we had to start calling/emailing him. I called the number listed on Angie's List and left two voicemails with no return call. I started to understand that this was his cellular voicemail and not an office recording. We wrote additional emails and on May 6th and he finally responded with the following: "I hope all is well. I saw where you husband left me a couple messages recenlty. My phone is in the shop now.The speaker broke and I'm picking up tomorrow, so I have to use email or texting until then. Yes, I have all of my notes of your project. I will check with my assistant to make sure that he sent you an email. you may also check your spam folder. We will be able to schedule the project for as soon as next week" Sent from my Galaxy S III Well his phone was in the shop but he sent this message from a Galaxy S III. We responded (email) with all was not well. Apparently when his phone is broke (so is his email) you can't reach him because he didn't return emails too! The point here is he neglected to do his due diligence (call and discuss with assistant, check to see if a proposal was sent, etc.). I explained the problems in the email and thought I was pretty clear that we were no longer interested in his services and expected a full refund. I emailed him on May 8th at 8:54PM. We received a follow up email that evening/following morning (12:03am) from Ryan thanking us for our response. He stated: "He looked into the situation for us. Yes, Spam can be quite agitating. In fact, this email that I'm reponding to was in my Spam folder. Go figure. Anyway, my office administrator assured me that he sent a quote. I am looking at it right now. It was sent on 4/30 (Tuesday) at 3:38pm." He went on to explain the cost breakdown of the project. Towards the end of the email he states: I'm sure your wife mentioned, I told her that our master calendar is approximately 3.5 weeks out from the day of our meeting. That is May 24th (today is May 9th). That date is still yours if you want it. Just for future reference, most customers schedule spring clean-up jobs in the winter of autumn before, simply because the demand is so high during peak season. He looked into the situation and spoke to his office administator and he assured me he sent the quote? So somehow after 9:00pm this took place? How are you looking at it now? Somehow he has it in front of him, but he didn't forward it to us to prove the time stamp from the date he claimed it was sent. There was never anything in our Spam file. If you remember he stated earlier he could do the work "as early as next week", but the follow up email it's May 24th. The reference that we picked the peak time is apparently our fault. I guess the fact that his company provided "The Deal" on Angie's List has nothing to do with the demand. He's the one that picked the time of year to provide his services to Angie's members. What homeowner does edging, mulch and pruning in the winter? What I do know is this contractor is a small operator, PO Box for an address and his business phone is his cell phone that doesn't always work. I understand the small operator and he's just trying to make a living, but if you're not able to keep up with the demand of an Angie's List Big Deal then just be honest with your customers. They will be appreciate it in the end.
Description of Work: We purchase a "$249 Landscaper for a Day" as a part of the Deals program provided by Angie's List on April 22nd . In hindsight I should have recognized that this company only had two reviews and that each review the landscape owner was onsite doing the work. We were wanting our beds to be edge and possibly some pruning and mulching. We weren't sure what we could get done for $249, so we set an appointment for the morning of April 29th with the owner Ryan Curry.

Response from Curry Lawn and Landscape LLC
Hi [member name removed], Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Once again, I am very sorry that you had a bad experience. We strive to provide honest, professional service to all of our customers. We are sure to own any mistake that we make, but nearly all of the statements in your review were taken out of context, misquoted, and misrepresented. I have all of the documents showing our correspondences to prove otherwise. We tried very hard to be accommodating by offering your an earlier date for your project, and we even offered to complete your entire project completely free of charge despite fallacious claims you had made. I responded to your emails and voice messages in a timely manner. My phone was being repaired for a day and a half, and the email that you referred to that was sent by a phone was from my crew member's phone which I was using at the time. My assistant did send you a quote the day after I had my consultation with you, and we have documentation of this. There is nothing wrong with our email; we have all of the correspondences. No, I did not say that you should do landscaping work in the winter. I said that it's never a bad idea, in the months leading up to spring, to schedule projects for the spring simply to guarantee securing a project for the exact date you desire . That is because good, honest companies like mine are in such high demand during the peak season, thus there is often a waiting list. We tried everything possible to accommodate you, but you insisted on making false personal attacks against me, dismissing my attempts to improve the situation, and contorting all of my written remarks. Please pay more attention to correspondences. I cannot help the fact that you falsely convinced yourself of information that never existed. I have neither the time nor patience to correct all of your false statements.

Ryan came out on a Sunday to discuss what could be done during that time. That was easy and he was on time. Then a week later they did the work on back to back days. Needed little interaction from me. Then Ryan followed up with me at the end of the day.
Description of Work: I bought two of the 8-man hour coupons from Curry (it was an Angies list deal). I had a great deal of stuff around the yard to do. They (at times just one guy, someones 2) did FAR more work than I would have guessed in the allotted 16 hours. I was stunned at how much they did and how well they did the job. They trimmed back a huge bush between me and my neighbor (15 foot long, 8 foot high, 8 foot wide) They removed several overgrown bushes and trees from a few areas. They removed all the debris that was created - probably a few truck fulls. **the above is about all I expected to get done to be honest They dug out some old landscaping edging and created a new shape to a mulch bed They removed weeds from several areas They carried 80+ bags of mulch to the areas that I will be spreading them I think they even put down some vegetation kill in areas to prep for mulch.

Ryan, the owner, was on time, clean and well priced. The estimate was reasonable. During the work, Ryan kept the walkways clean and the trash to a minimum. Ryan did an exceptional job.
Description of Work: Redefined the flower beds, removed 6 12year old bushes, planted 9 bushes, tree and plants, mulched all the beds around the house, removed sod x 3 for the garden and hauled away the debris.

Hi Member, I appreciate your praise. Let's see how the over-seeding comes in this spring. The ground is very moist, so that should give everything a good chance. See you soon!
