The Painting Edge

They came out on short notice. They came out and did the job quickly and efficiently. I called them on a Wednesday and they came out on Friday. The owner was really great. He came by himself as well to make sure it was getting done. I will use them in the future if needed.

They responded quickly to my response and requested to set up a time to meet for a free estimate. I called and spoke with Todd, and I told him that I was only looking for a very rough estimate before setting up an estimate in my home. He was extremely helpful and went over the dimensions and room shape, along with the wall texture (we were looking to paint over a brick wall as well). He reminded me that it would be a rough estimate, and I definitely understood that he couldn't provide a more exact estimate without seeing the room first. He went through everything with me, from labor to materials, and even broke down the price for the brick wall alone, as well as the overall estimate. I really, really appreciated the time he took to go over the estimate with me. When we get closer to deciding upon a painter, we will absolutely consider this company thanks to Todd's patience and thoroughness.

This job started in September, 2011, with our intentions for it to be just "a couple of rooms" after WE painted over an ugly loud intense color in one room, and it took 3 coats of primer and two coats of paint and still didn't look that good. That was enough for us to try on our own. The job that Todd and his crew did in the "couple of rooms" was wonderful. So we added a hall, then a foyer, laundry, etc. until he had done almost the entire house. I am not easy to work for and Todd has the patience of a saint. The inside of this house is stunning and I would recommend him for any plaster re-finishing, drywall, or paint work. I will hire him again, I'm sure. We hadn't moved in to this house and his crew worked there without us present, with our tools present. Nothing was ever disturbed. His crew doesn't smoke in the house, and left no trash anywhere at the end of each day. This is a WONDERFUL contractor, with integrity, perfection, and personality.

Estimate was substantially less than another bidder. Work done well and professionally. Todd was very flexible when we made some changes, and he was happy to meet with our decorator to discuss color matching etc. After the first day we decided to change the finish from satin to flat based on how it looked, Todd was very accommodating and only charged us for the additional paint. Excellent work and we would use again.

My experience with The Painting Edge was outstanding from beginning to end -- I couldn't be happier. Todd Cartmel was great to work with -- he was very responsive to my initial call and quickly arranged a time to come out and give me an estimate. He then quickly followed up with a written proposal of the work to be done and cost. The written estimate was so well laid out and very clear as to what they would do for this project. The guys that came out to do the drywall and the painting were really skilled. Their work was top notch, and they did a great job of protecting my existing furniture and carpeting from any drywall dust or paint drips. Once it was completed, Todd came out to inspect the work. Todd felt that the textured ceiling patch in the living room wasn't quite as perfect as he thought it could be -- so he asked if the guys could come back another day and re-do it with no extra cost to me. Wow -- I hadn't expressed any dissatisfaction with the work, yet Todd felt it could be better. That really highlights Todd's attention to detail and pride in the company's workmanship! So the guys came back a few days later, and the drywall repair is amazing. It fits in so well with the existing texture, someone would have to really really look hard to see that a patch had been done. I really appreciate the extra effort that Todd and the guys put into this project.

The painter, Paul, arrived as promised. He was very professional, personable, and competent. After he finished painting he placed my furniture and artwork back to their original positions. He did a great job.

It's always a pleasure to work with Todd. I called Todd last minute for the specified work ..he was able to fit me in the next day. this is my second time using his company to do work in my home. Paul the painter arrived as scheduled. He covered all my furniture and was very professional and fast. He worked Saturday and Sunday. His work was impeccable!! I will definitely use Todd's company again for work...

I was very pleased with the quality of the work and the professionalism of the painting crew. Jeremiah, the crew manager, was delightful. He was very responsive and kept me updated on progress. It was extremely hot, and the painters never complained or seemed deterred by the heat. The whole crew was so pleasant. My home looks terrific.

Todd and his crew were awesome to work with. After meeting Todd for the quote, I was very impressed by his attention to customer service as he was the only company that sent a hard copy of the estimate in the mail as well as emailed it. He also was the only company that suggested a pre-meeting to discuss the expections of the job and going over the color choices as well as how the best way his crew will take care of the drywall repairs needed. (more surface cracks in hard to reach areas). I have an aprox 18ft peak wall in my living room as well as tall stairwell and I decided to go with a fairly dark blue. Todd and I discussed if this would be too dark or not, but I still went with this color. Todd's crew in taking are of the drywall and painting were awesome!!! I was very pleased in the attention to detail that the crew took every day during the clean-up process as well. The crew takes pride in what they do. We did have a slight mishap in the Kitchen and Todd was quick to resolve the issue. Todd would also come to the site in the mornings to check on the progress as well as keep me informed of any issues or progress of the job. I do not hesitate in suggesting Todd's company tor anyone needing this type of service done. I look forward to working with Todd and his company again when I need my outside painted.

Todd was kind and considerate from our first meeting when he came to give us an estimate on what we needed done. He and his staff are very friendly, courteous and thorough. It was a pleasure to have them in our home. Todd answered any question we had and explained thoroughly what they would be doing. His employee Ray repaired an area on our ceiling. He was clearly a perfectionist. He did not take a break until the job was done perfectly and completely. Ray totally prepared and cleaned up the area before leaving. Shane painted our ceiling and again was a wonderful worker and very pleasant. I often sent a question to Todd via email and he returned my email with the answer. The final cost was exactly what was quoted. The Painting Edge will be my first choice for the remainder of painting we need done. I recommend them for their promptness, thoroughness and pleasant attitudes.

I am luck to have him as well. I am a really picky guy particularly with painting and he and his company is the best painters. It was very professionally done and a very thorough estimate and you have that estimate within 24 hours. He is a young guy with a business major that got a into the painting company and he has young professional people in their twenties and early thirties and they are just extraordinary painters. They are very detailed no mess, no problems afterwards and once again he is a guy who will come back and take care of everything if you have any issues. I could not speak more highly of him or his company.

The company was professional and I am sure they would do a good job, but the price was 50% higher than the second place bid. I think this price was too high.

After a plumbing issue, we were left with a hole in the bathroom ceiling drywall, about 3"x3". Todd patched up the hole and repainted the entire ceiling. Looks great!

Mr. Cartmel was very accommodating of our scheduling needs. Our household items were in storage and at the last minute we decided the ceiling needed to be painted prior to loading items back into the house. The painting was completed in three phases around Christmas to New Years, the last of which was a final walk thru to make sure that we, as customers were happy with the work. At no point did Mr. Cartmel ever question any issue or concern expressed and happily touched up any area for which it was requested. He told us our ceiling would look beautiful when his crew was done and he was right. We could not be happier with the work. This company is deserving of a Page of Happiness Nomination.

Drywaller showed up as scheduled. Immediately started working. Process took a few hours because I asked that everything be done in one-day. They happily accommodated my schedule. My wall was drywalled previously unevenly so it made my dark paint look dumpy and uneven. Todd's drywaller make my wall look brand new!!!

This is not our first time using this company, in fact whenever we have any painting needs, Todd Cartmel's company The Painting Edge is the ONLY ONE we call. We just had new hardwood flooring put down and needed all the baseboards and shoe molds painting. As usual Todd and his team didn't let us down. Paul our designated painter turned up at 8AM and worked through until 4PM everyday with only the shortest break for lunch. We are amazed at the painting of the shoe molds as Paul didn't get any paint on the newly put down hardwood floors, he has done a marvelous job. The flooring company we used did some damage to some of the walls when they were putting the floor down. Todd came, looked at the walls told me not to worry because he would take care of them and make them look like new again and he was true to his word. Paul painted and repaired them and now you would never know there was any damage. We can't imagine ever using another company to do our painting, if you're looking for a professional, knowledgeable, quality painting company then look no further than The Painting Edge you will not be disappointed.

As always, Todd and his team did a great job. We have used this company before and recommend him to others. They worked diligently around another company who was replacing siding. They pay great attention to detail and always do a great job.

Mr. Cartmel had his crew here promptly when scheduled and the men that work for him are absolutely wonderful and excellent at what they do. I had a couple pictures to show, but I don't see anywhere to add them. He crew was very good at painting and and everything that goes with it. His painter and dry wall man were very curtious and I felt confident to leave them alone in my house after a few hours of being with both of them. Good, honest people is what the whole company is. The painted cut out the ceiling beautifully - my husband had painted the walls a few years ago and he had red paint everywhere on that ceiling, but Paul was able to very efficiently cut the whole ceiling and make even my husband's paint job beautiful. I so wish I could add the photos - perhaps at the end of this report I can. I highly, highly recommend them. After talking with Todd, I learned that he had been one of my best friend's painter for years, I had just never ask who did the jobs!!! Apparently they paint exteriour too so if all things go well we will have this company paint our house next summer. I will recommend this company to all of my friend because I have already started since my friends have been coming through and asking! I chose the company from Angie's List because of the great ratings and true to form - they were excellent! Thank you Angie's List for being there!

Todd was very responsive with his communication; calling when he indicated he would. He worked us into their schedule to fit our needs and was punctual and thorough when they came to do the work. Shane 'did the job' and was clean, quick and pleasant to work with. Both Todd and Shane were a pleasure to have in our home. Would definitely use The Painter's Edge again!

We had a wonderful experience. It was easy to work with Todd. The exterior painters cleaned up after themselves and worked around our landscaping. The paint looks great and the painters were friendly. The interior painters were great too. They are nice and work fast. They have clean lines and the walls are flawless. I will use them again in the future.

My experience with The Painting Edge from start to finish was absolutely perfect. Todd, the owner, came out to give me the orginial estimate and he was very informative about there process and was very patient and polite answering all my questions. I received several quotes and there price was not the cheapest but by far not the most expensive. I chose The Painting Edge for there excellent reputation not only with Angie's List but several of my neighbors and friends have used them as well and every single one of them were completely happy with the workmanship and the great customer service they provided. All there workers both on the interior and exterior jobs were well groomed, extremely polite, and worked very hard. During the process they informed me of the progress and made me feel extremely comfortable about everything and how they were going about doing it. They repaired some drywall issues that I had and the repairs they did were perfect as well. I am planning on having them back in the winter to paint a couple more rooms that I did not want to do during this first phase. This is a top notch company and am extremely glad my friends recommended them to me.
