The Painting Edge

Todd Cartmel of The Painting Edge and his painting team, Paul and Richard, performed at the highest standard of any contractor we have ever used in our home! The painters' work quality was exceptional, their communication skills were invaluable, and Todd, Paul and Richard took great pride in meeting and exceeding all of our high expectations. Covering dark paneling with a light yellow and white trim was a complex job as Todd had outlined during our initial home estimate. He then planned that we have a thorough walk through one week before the job start where every detail including choices made by my wife and me were discussed and agreed. The work started just as scheduled with Todd present to make introductions. Todd made some good suggestions on paint color and coverage locations prior to the work; later, they gladly accommodated an extra shutter door and paint change we made during the work. To achieve the high paint coverage quality of work Paul and Richard wanted, they needed to put in some extra effort and accommodated my request to work over the weekend -- this resulted in no charge to me. We were greatly impressed by the degree of professionalism and expertise shown by Todd, Paul, and Richard. The painters were punctual, very carefully minimized any dust as requested, and their attention to detail was outstanding. Further, all were completely cordial and accommodating, and we felt completely comfortable with their presence in our home over 7 days. Todd, Paul and Richard were a pleasure to work with, and the outcome is a beautiful room!

It went great. They do a great job. They are professional, prompt, and I would use them again.

Todd called before the estimate to see if he could come early. He arrived when he said he would. He walked through each of the areas, asking questions and providing several options for the repairs. We then walked around the exterior, again providing options and also answering my questions. The next day, Todd provided a detailed estimate via email.

We contacted Todd to give us an estimate on painting all of our outside windows after having some of the windows replaced/fixed. Todd came out and gave us an estimate and since we have used Todd and his crew in the past, we knew their scope of work and went with them. They came out at an agreed upon appointment and prepped/painted the windows. We also had them paint two ceilings in our home since we were getting ready to put our house on the market and it needed to be done. Everything went very well and the guys couldn't of been more professional. They are a great company to work with.

Our project went very well. Todd was in touch within hours of my initial phone call. We set up a time to meet and discuss the project. Todd was punctual and prepared for the meeting. After listening to our needs, he sent an itemized quote within a day. Todd was instrumental in helping us choose colors for our spaces. He even made a second trip to our home to look at samples that we were debating between in order to help us choose colors that we would be happy with. Knowing that our project was going to take a week or more, and not wanting to inconvenience us, Todd made sure that his crew had the time to give us before beginning the project. Paul and Chris worked in our home. They were extremely easy to work with. They did not act as if this were just their working environment, but instead our home. They were punctual, polite and professional. It was obvious that they took pride in their work. They went above and beyond to ensure we were pleased. Each day they cleaned up after themselves (and sometimes after our children) and definitely left the spaces better than they found them. It was a pleasure to have Paul and Chris working in our home because they did not interrupt our daily routine as a family. We very much appreciate the fact that Todd stopped in frequently to check on the progress and make sure that we were pleased with the work. We were well informed during the entire project and felt as if our project was top priority. The project was completed in a timely manner and right on budget. We were very happy with the quality work that The Painting Edge performed and will certainly hire them again the next time we have painting to be done. Thank you Todd, Paul and Chris! The work was done in a timely, professional manner. We have a rather unique finish on our ceiling and Todd went out of his way to find a roller that would duplicate what we have. This company is great to work with and they do an outstanding job.

Good. Painters were on time every day, taped around all the woodwork, etc, so there was no overlap, Very neat, cleaned up well after their work every day

This was the second time The Painting Edge had done work for us (prior was >$6,000 of exterior paint in spring 2012). Todd and team run an exceptional operation from start to finish. Quality Unmatched is the only way i can describe it and why i started with this topic. If you want quality first just call Todd and don't worry about scheduling any other estimates. I've had other painters do work in the past and know the difference. You absolutely get more than what you pay for with this team. Professionalism Again, I challenge anyone to find a better painting company with the level of professionalism and pride in their work. On this job we had Shane and Josh completing the work and we couldn't ask for two better people. They take serious pride in their work and do not cut any corners. Every night they left the house picked up and equipment moved out of the way. At the end of each room they moved everything back perfectly in place and left it cleaner than when they started the work. Estimate Process The estimate process is very straightforward and Todd is very quick to turn around estimates that are easy to understand. He sends both electronic and hard copies which is nice for future reference or to look at whenever/wherever i may need. He also is great to work with on consulting on colors/finish. He won't choose for you (nor should he) but he definitely gave us recommendations and feedback that turned out to be spot on. Scheduling Scheduling has never been an issue as Todd has a strong enough business to run multiple crews. He isn't immediately available which is exactly what i want to hear from any contractor. Additionally, we have had to make adjustments to both our schedules on the different jobs and Todd clearly communicated and ensured the changes would not be interfering with our families hectic schedule. Communication No worries here at all. Todd is always communicating and ensuring we were on the same page throughout all phases of the project. Text messaging was even used which really helped me due to my intense schedule with work. Also Shane and Josh were very respectful to communicate when they were taking lunch or leaving for the day.

Todd was great to work with. First off, I was pleased to find that he was willing to meet on a Saturday to provide an estimate. That is not easy to find. He also recommended a handyman that we used to repair some wood trim prior to painting. That worked out very well also. His company was not the cheapest estimate received but I feel the work was of very high quality. His workers were all very punctual, respectful of our space, and communicated very well as far as job progress/questions/etc. Todd was always available via phone/text/email and responded very punctually. He was very engaged to make sure the jobs were all completed in a very satisfactory manner. I could not be more pleased with the finished products. I would definitely recommend and will strongly consider using them again in the future.

They did a great job. Todd was very responsive. The crew was very friendly and did great work. We even added some extra projects along the way and they took care of everything.

Richard and Paul did a great job, and were a pleasure to work with! They were professional, timely, and asked me questions as they worked to make sure they were delivering on my expectations. I look forward to working with them on my next 2 rooms! I recommend them to anyone!

Todd Cartmel came out and estimated how much it would cost to repair/replace the drywall and paint the two areas requested. He was great to work with, and came by before, during and after the work was completed to make sure it was done to our satisfaction. The repairs and painting were completed very professionally and quickly. We would definitely hire The Painting Edge again for our future painting needs.

I really appreciate their flexibility as I was trying to do a lot myself and so they were out in two phases one for they drywall work and one to paint. Like I said, I've worked with Todd before so I just called him and he got it done. In fact, I've got some exterior painting that needs to be done and in the spring ill have them out.

I spoke with Todd telling him my needs. He came by, gave me an estimate and his crew began the job the following Monday. They repaired the walls, sanded and painted. They did a great job of matching the paint! I am having them back later this spring do power wash the exterior and repair anything that needs to be done.

We called The Painting Edge to give us an estimate to patch and paint the 3800 sq ft downtown home we had just purchased. Todd was very respectful and professional from our first contact with him. He came to our home at a mutually agreed upon time, within a couple of days of our call, walked through the house to discuss the project, and even helped us with ideas. He had an estimate to us promptly. We made some changes and additions, and Todd had a new estimate to us within hours. ... We were very pleased with the numbers and with Todd, so we hired them. ... The work included the following: fixing the walls in the master bedroom where we had ripped down fabric and padding that had covered them leaving massive areas of missing plaster; removing drapery tracks from the ceilings in two rooms and patching; removing several televisions and patching the walls behind; filling in several areas all over the house to make the walls more smooth; pushing in over 200 nail-pops on walls; and finally, painting the whole house - including two separate two-story-high stairway wells, and three large skylights that are more than two stories high. They painted every room, hallway, skylight, and stairwell, including accent walls of a different color in various places throughout the home. The crew had their own foreman. They were able to do much of the work while we were out of town, and so we gave them our keys and their own code to our security system. They worked overtime, in fact, to get as much done as they could while we were away, to make it easier on us. They cleaned up well after themselves. They were respectful and personable.... Best of all, the quality of the work was outstanding! They had used lights to get the walls as smooth as they could. The cut-in work along our stained wood trim was excellent. (I have a very steady hand myself and am especially picky about cutting in.) The corners between the different colored walls showed straight edges... A couple of weeks after they were finished, we noticed some of the nails had popped back out. Also, I changed my mind about the color on one of the walls. Todd sent a crew back out to fix and patch the new nail-pops and to repaint an entire wall another color, without charging us any extra. ... The Painting Edge met or exceeded our expectations in every area. In fact, we are presently in the middle of remodling an area of the house and finishing some of the basement. We already told our contractor that we want her to use The Painting Edge instead of her regular crew. We would recommend them for any work, no matter now complicated or delicate. They are artists.

This was the second time I've used The Painting Edge. Both times, I've been very pleased with their work and their professionalism throughout. This time I needed some nail pops patched and the ceilings painted. Originally they were scheduled to start the 3-day job on Wednesday, December 26th, but because of the near-blizzard weather, they understandably had to delay the start. They were able to do the work on the Friday through Sunday instead. (I was impressed they were willing to work the weekend.) The painters were all professional and did a great job cleaning up. The ceilings look perfect!

I called Todd in November, 2013 for an estimate for interior painting - kitchen, dining room, bathroom, stairway and celings in those areas. His was one of 3 estimates we received. We chose Todd due to his professional appearance and his willingness to do the drywall work we needed w/o having to work with different other companies. His crew showed up on time every day. They worked well together, they were very nice to us, and they did a great job of cleaning up our house before they left each day. They were here 5 days. The drywall repairs were very good, and the paint job looks great. We had an incident in which the paint color we picked out was lighter than we thought it would be --after 2 coats were already applied!. We told the leader of his crew about it and he called Todd. Todd was at our house within 30 minutes. We agreed on a darker color, they picked up 2 gallons of the darker color and repainted the kitchen and dinig room area. The best thing about it was in the way it was handled. Todd acted like it was not any big deal and he just wanted us to be satisfied. When we received the billing for their work, Todd pointed out that there was no charge for the extra paint and labor due to the color change. We appreciated the work of Todd and his crew tremendously!

We've used The Painting Edge at both of our homes over the last 10 years of living in Indianapolis. This is the 3rd project this year we've had them do and as always the crew was polite, professional and did a great job. Thanks again!

this was 3rd or 4th time I had used Todd and his crew, over the past few years, and they continued to do an excellent job. Even the neighbors commented on how detailed and professional they were. They take the time to explain what they see and what they will be doing. I would recommend them to anyone that is want a great painting job done, that will last more then 3 years.

I was very impressed with this company. Todd, the owner(?), was very straightforward about what was needed, how many men it would take, how many days it would take, and even offered a less-expensive paint of comparable quality. Everything went very smoothly: His team was on time each day, they were very courteous, they did a fabulous job, and they cleaned up nicely each day. The price was higher than other bids I got, and I'm new to the world of indoor painting by professionals(!), so that's why I gave the price as a B. But I'm sure I got my money's worth: Todd was much more professional and helpful than the other two people who provided bids. I went with the Painting Edge because of this, and I don't regret it. I would most definitely recommend this company. And I'll use them when I've saved up to get the trim painted!

The Painting Edge once again did a great job! The selected the appropriate colors and blended everything so well it seemed like the original work.

Todd promised a lot. "We'll make it perfect." He delivered. We did obtain other bids on the first, larger job. Todd's bid was at the lower end of the bids, but I don't know how anyone could have done a better job for us. We practically had every room in the home torn up for the plumbing job, and now we look at our home and can't tell any work was done. His crew performed that admirably.

Three guys came and did all the prep work and 2 coats of paint in one day. The guys were all nice and quiet. Did a great job of fixing holes and prep work and applying paint. Todd also sent out a couple of handymen to fix a loose stairway railing. Planning on having Todd paint the exterior our home next year since we were pleased with this work.
