First the positives: Raul is very friendly and for special jobs and clean up they do a good job. They do good mowing and edging. Their prices are very competitive. Now the negatives: Communication is poor. When you call it always goes to the answering machine and sometimes there is a call back but often no response. Part of the communication problem is between Raul and the crew. For example, they had reworked the back yard to increase drainage but the regular crew was never told about that and slowly reversed the changes during normal upkeep. They regularly run over the gutter drain pipes with the mower and will mow when the ground is soaked leaving tracks. The weekly garden clean up is spotty and in the spring clean up they often remove perennials. I've finally decided to find another service.

Raul returned my call, came to see the job, and then came back that afternoon to do it. It took only about 15 minutes because he had a large crew with him. There wasn't much to it but they were very affordable and didn't try to "up sell" me into anything more. This was a no frills yard work job, not a fancy landscaping project, and I would use this company for that type of job again.

He was courteous and kind. He is very responsive. He is professional. I will use him in the future. The quality of his work is good. He is very personable.

The work was an "A", but there was a miscommunication with the service agreement.

Raul was responsive in providing a quote and was able to do the work on a weekend within a week of when I accepted the quote. He and 2 other workers had the job finished within 3 hours. They cut out and removed the old grass, power tilled the soil, graded it, put down fertilizer, laid the sod and rolled it. The sod seems to be of high quality. The edges where the sod meets the sidewalk is not perfect, but I can take of that. I was concerned that the sod might be too high, but Raul assured me that it will sink down over time. We will see. Overall very professional and other neighbors have either hired him or asked about his services.

I didn't receive a fax, I didn't receive an estimate in the mail and Raul did not return 3 messages I left on his phone asking what was going on. I am surprised and disappointed by Raul's unprofessional behavior after such good write-ups on Angie's list.

I called Mr. Almanza to set up an appointment to level my yard, install drains, build a small retaining wall and resod. Mr. Almanza came out at the appointed time, during which time I described what was needed. He told me that he could not give me a price estimate until he knew which stones I wanted for the retaining wall and that he would drop off a book with prices. He never showed and I never heard back from him again.

Fantastic. Raul came right on time for an estimate and was able to schedule the work three days later, on a Saturday. On the day scheduled to do the work, Raul and his team showed up right on time and checked with us throughout the process to make sure we were happy. Everyone was very polite and very neat. I would definitely use them again.

He was patient enough to let me look around for a few days and then purchased and installed the ones I wanted. Raul's crew did the work very quickly (roughly 2 days) and left the work area clean. I'm very happy with the quality of the work and have gotten many compliments on the new walkway. I will definitely use him again for other landscaping needs.

He was also the least expensive, by a tremendous amount: two other estimates were 2x his price ($5.4K), and the fourth was a shocking 3x his price ($7.2K). The reason Raul is so cost effective is that he found ways to save us money. For instance, he was able to reuse and re-cut every one of our old pavers to make the new leveled and relocated sidewalks. He was able to power-wash any that had sustained concrete damage from the construction. The other guys immediately wanted to buy hundreds of sq.ft. of brand new material. He built the new wood fence using posts and 8' sections at $24 ea. from Home Depot, instead of hand-assembling the whole thing. He covered up the pipe with the grass and dirt from the trench he carefully dug. He and his crew worked for 3 whole days and did an amazing job!

The retaining wall was excellently and expertly done, as was the mulching and ivy removal. Unfortunately, due to fluctuations in the weather in April (it got quite cold after the work was done). I can't be sure how well the fertilization would have helped our lawn under more "normal" weather conditions. Price was very fair also. My only concern was that his crew came to the building when I wasn't home, on a day that we had not agreed upon, supposedly because another job that they were scheduled to do that day couldn't happen, so they just came over to my building. I was at work and couldn't leave to meet them (it's an hour commute anyway), so I let them start work. I had told Almanza in the beginning to NOT enter the neighbor's yard for any reason, and one of my fellow residents received a complaint about Almanza's crew entering her yard and "trampling" some of her plants when Almanza's crew was trying to get the ivy off the building. I had told Almanza not to do that wall earlier.

They are good and reasonable. Price is per visit.

I had not been able to do any yard work at all all summer. It was humiliating. I called several companies on Angie's List, and this company, which was my first choice based on the recommendations, was the only one who had time to do the job. They showed up in less than a week, and cleaned up the mess in a half a day. My only complaint is there's one more thing I asked to have done; they didn't do it and I can't seem to get a call back from Raul.

Overall it was great. They were fast, inexpensive (less than other estimates), and turned the space from a hardscape into a landscape. There was a small hiccup over the kind of tree we wanted, but Raul replaced the tree (at labor cost only) and then re-sodded the area around the tree. We already have recommended them.

Awesome! He called back the day I called him. The next day he drove over to get me a quote. The quote was very reasonable. The next day he installed the flowers and sod. The flowers look beautiful! I would have to say it's the best service I have had in a long time! Great job Raoul! Definitely will use again!

This company was incredible. Raul came out the day after I called and gave me an estimate and the work was performed less than a week later. The crew arrived around 7:30 a.m. and were done by 9:00 a.m. They removed the bushes and then fertilized the soil. They worked very quickly and didn't make much noise taking out the bushes. They left the area clean of all debris.

Mr. Almanza returned my call on the same day I left the voice mail. He came by the house the following day to give me an estimate. My husband and I have given up on maintaining our yard ourselves, so the $140 was for his crew's first visit. They will cut and edge our lawn every other week from now on for $45. Mr. Almanza is very professional.

Raul from R & G has been terrific! His prices are reasonable, he returns calls promptly, shows up on time and does a great job. I am also using him for weekly lawn service.

For over 2 years, I've wanted to get this work done, but I thought it would be too difficult and expensive for quality work. Raul and his team of 6-8 guys provided a proposal, showed up on the appointed day and finished a large amount of work in 10 hours. They had the right equipment and did all the work the right way such as amending soil and rolling the sod. A previous landscaping experience in my last house made me a little nervous about re-sodding because it wasn't done the right way, but R & G Landscaping was top notch for a reasonable price. Plus, Raul is a super nice guy. I love my new backyard and have received multiple compliments on it.

We were pleased with the job. Our neighbors asked for their card as well. They offer a standard monthly maintenance service, but we didn't feel we could afford it now.

I was interested in hiring Almanza, since they were rated as having very competitive prices (unlike many other listed landscapers). On my last phone message, I noted that if Almanza was too busy to accept new work at this time, I'd very much appreciate a return call letting me know that (and that I understood if this was the case). Nobody returned that call either. Almanza transcends unprofessional; they're just rude.
