They are fabulous, Bill came out and was just great. The old company told me that the new fixtures I bought were shotty, and I called North Shore and they told me that was not the case, and were able to fix this situation. I would nominate them for the Page of Happiness!!!
Description of Work: They came out to fix a mess that i was left with by another company.

An excellent experience. They did what they said they would for the price they quoted. The price was fair and they are very professional.

My tenants described what seemed to them to be power surges in two rooms. Mike quickly diagnosed it as arcing between two circuit breakers. He fixed the problem and put a note in the circuit box not to re-use the faulty slot. He also rewired a switch to a ceiling fan for me.
Description of Work: Replaced circuit breaker, minor rewiring for a switch.

Work was completed successfully and timely.
Description of Work: I discovered that when my hardwood floors were installed the conduit supplying power to my base board heaters was cut. North Shore - was able to replace new lines through the broken conduit and install my new heaters. They were also was able to trouble shoot and repair a problem hallway electrical issue. In addition - we discussed possible solutions for adding lighting to another room - recessed cans vs. track (I appreciated the candidness regarding estimated cost as well as possible money saving options.

They did a very good job! They were here when they said they would, the workers were courteous, and they responded to my questions. There was a small glitch when they thought they were finished, and they stayed an extra two and a half hours to make sure that was fixed. They also left the worksite cleaner than when they started.
Description of Work: They installed a new circuit breaker box and relocated my electrical meters.

Dimmer switch in the kitchen was buzzing. We decided the easiest way to fix it would be to replace it with a regular non-dimming switch. We also found that another switch was not connected properly, and replaced that as well. He did not have a panel that matched the others in the kitchen, so he went back to get one, returning about 10 minutes later. This was pretty straightforward work, but they did it very quickly and professionally. They also called me a week before the appointment saying that they had an opening and they could move the appointment up if I wanted to. It turned out that I wasn't available that day, but I liked the fact that they proactively called me to see if I was available.
Description of Work: Replaced faulty light switch, replaced dimmer switch that was buzzing.

The original wiring turned out to have been damaged when a new brick pation was installed the previous summer. Because uncovering the wires would require taking up a large section of the patio or digging up a long trench in the back yard, the electrician's diagnostic skill in identifying the location of the problem was very important, and his diagnosis turned out to be right on the money. The damaged sections of the wires were right where he expected them to be, and he replaced all the wiring (approximately 40 feet) that runs under the patio with new wire surrounded by conduit. Furthermore, his explanation of what had happened to the damaged wires over the winter enabled me to convince the contractor who had installed the patio to remove and replace the bricks at no expense to me.
Description of Work: The problem was a tripping circuit breaker for the underground line from the house to a detached garage. The work performed included locating the damaged section of the wire and replacing it in a way that would prevent the problem from occurring again in the future.

I was impressed both with the service and promptness of North Shore Electric and will not hesitate to call them again.
Description of Work: On a Friday, I received a call from my alarm company telling me I had lost power at my home. I quickly determined it was not an area loss, but restricted to my house. After contacting the power company and waiting for service (on a hot summer day - no A/C) I decided to call North Shore Electric around 4:15. I explained my problem and that I did not know if I needed an electrician or if the power company could fix the problem. The power company truck and the electrician from North Shore arrived at the same time. They quickly determined that the problem was inside the house. Bill found the problem (a 200 amp fuse that had gone bad) and fixed it in a short time, sparing us an unbearably hot weekend.

I contacted the company by phone and told them I thought my motor was broken. They arranged a time within the next couple of days to send someone out. An electrician came out, tested the old motor to confirm that it was not working, then went out to get a new one and installed it. The electrician was very friendly and the price was fair.

The electrician immediately determined that there was moisture in the fixture, which had caused the problem. He removed the fixture so that I could have it repaired and put new caps on the wires so it would be easier for me to re-install myself after repair.

The process was great. After I signed the contract I was contacted immediately and an appointment was made for three days later. They came at 9am and were there until 3:30pm. They were professional and made suggestions and assisted with some lighting work that they did not have to do, without cost.

The proposal was provided promptly after the man came to see the work. The proposal said that the work would be scheduled 2 to 4 weeks after receipt of the signed contract. In the fourth week, I called to find out the status and received a work date, which was a couple of weeks out. Most of the work was completed that day, but it turned out the doorbell would take more time. The rest of the work (doorbell, new outlet and attic exhaust fan) was rescheduled for several weeks later. On the second work date, in addition to finishing those items, he had to re-seat the bathroom fan (which had not been installed flush with the ceiling) and replace two switches that had been installed the first time with the wrong color (cream vs. white).
Description of Work: Repaired very old doorbell. Added an outlet. Checked attic exhaust fan. Repaired light switch. In bathroom, replaced old exhaust fan with new one with new electronic timer switch; added two recessed lights and dimmer switch; installed new wall light and lighted mirror that we supplied.

They were not available for a long time, due to high volume following a huge storm, but they arrived on time and did a nice job. The designated outlet job was going to be swifter than anticipated, so I wanted the gentleman's feedback about a couple other electrical needs. He was happy to help. Initially, I wanted a new outlet in the hallway outside the bathroom for a children's night light. The gentleman made a great suggestion to instead install a dimmer, so the low light would be better than a night light for our children to see their way to the bathroom. He was able to install the dimmer on the spot. It worked out very well. Only criticism is that their office staff can be cranky and I dreaded having to call them about anything (there was a possible re-scheduling situation). Trying to describe my needs to them, the woman insisted I needed a plumber or sewer pro. I could not convince her I needed an outlet to make the overhead sewer work. That was unnecessarily rough!
Description of Work: They installed a dedicated outlet for our newly installed overhead sewer in the crawl space. He also put a dimmer on a light switch in our hallway.

Andy was an excellent listener and completed all work requested. He explained what he was doing. He was a neat worker and cleaned each area as he finished. He had to return to the shop for a part. He told me that I would not be charged for his time away and I was not charged. While he was on the job, he worked quickly and efficiently. Andy arrived 45 minutes late due to an unfortunate mishap.

The electrician was running late, but the company did call and inform me of the situation instead of just letting me sit waiting. Greatly appreciated. They are by far the best guys on the planet. My house is very old, and it's wired uniquely. They came in and they said that to be honest, it needs time and material. They knew what to do. They were able to diagnose ground properly, and they didn't get stumped. They were also fast and cost effective.

I phoned North Shore Electric in the early afternoon about a problem we had with a bathroom light which was not responding to the wall switch. They dispatched an electrician within 2 hours he diagnosed and fixed the problem, which was actually hidden under the floor. The work done was very professionally and we were very pleased that they came and finished the project so promptly. I highly recommend North Shore Electric and will surely call them again in the future.

We had a big storm and lightning actually hit our home. We called that evening about 8:00 P.M and they called us back within the hour. Even though they were also without power, they took care of their customers right away and they were out first thing in the morning at 6:30 to fix us right up. Within 4 hours of their arrival, we had electricity. They were courteous, receptive and kind with an understanding about our situation that was needed at the moment of crisis.

Excellent. I scheduled the appointment without issue. They were very vague on the estimate but based on good reviews from this site, we scheduled them anyway. The technician was on time, was very professional, personable and flexible. We had to schedule a second visit because one of the light fixtures we needed to swap could not be installed in expected location due to an old gas pipe for a chandelier. So we rescheduled another visit, bought a new fixture and the second appointment was smooth. I was happily surprised at the bill I received. I would highly recommend them and would use them again.
