For 6 x 5 powder room: replaced all drywall due to the old being damaged, painted walls and ceiling, replaced damaged floor tiles, replaced old shutoff valves, installed gfi circuit, installed new vanity, toilet, mirror, light fixture, and bathroom accessories. Went very smoothly. This was the second time we hired this contractor. We plan on hiring again.

No problems. Craig brought the old toilets to the curb for garbage day.

Craig returned my email quickly. We agreed on the work to be done, reattach a fallen downspout. He came out to the house and called me, some of the sections of pipe needed to be replaced as they were damaged when they fell off. He also added a section to prevent water from draining on the drive and freezing. I appreciate Craigs innovative suggestion and am very pleased with the work he performed. I will put him on my speed dial for the next time =)

Craig did a fantastic job with all aspects of the job. He is professional, thorough, communicates well, and is eager to ensure everything is satisfactory. He goes out of his way. For example, we had an old original drain in our 40+ yr old bathtub we assumed could be replaced as we were "resurfacing" it rather than replacing it. It looks very tarnished and worn. He assumed so to. He spent a lot of time on his own searching for the right part after initially getting one that didn't quite fit, only to find out there is no longer one available that fits this particular pipe. He considered that a learning experience for himself ! He has a very broad knowledge base and skill set. Too bad we found Craig just as we were leaving Chicago and moving out of state. After this job, he continued to be a resource for minor questions as we left. The name of his company says it all! I would definitely have kept him as my handy go-to guy. He responded promptly to our phone message and came over to provide a bid the next day. He fit our projects into his schedule within a couple of days. He arrived punctually and performed the work thoroughly and carefully. Once he started the work, we asked for an additional item, and he notified us in advance what the added cost to the original quote would be. He added our additional request onto our projects so that we didn't have to schedule it for a later time. He kept us informed of his progress and invited our feedback as he was performing the work. His demeanor was calm and cheerful. We will call him again if we need more work done in the future.

Craig came on time and help to put couple of anchored nail down. All is done quickly and efficiently.

The whole project went really well. I had a quote over the phone for installing shelves in closets and garage. Then I called back to add couple more things. Craig was very accommodating with the time and schedule. He was punctuate on the day of appointment, very curious around the house. He was willing to check the toilet first and waited for me to get the correct parts from Home Depot while he worked on the fixing the shelving in two closets. This really helps to save time and effort sine the misfitted flange could easily adds up more trips to the store. The time Rams a bit longer than estimated 4 hours. However, we are almost there to get everything done so Craig stayed for another half hours to complete everything. He is very efficient, practical and willing to work with me to find the best solution. He shows a lot consideration by putting down covering down on the floor during the work and cleaning up afterwards. He is very prompt to any questions or issues. One day after the work is done, I realized that I need couple more nails to fix the rails of my shelf. He quickly set up the time to come back to fix it this week. I will update my review afterwards.

Excellent! Craig returned my call the same day when I first contacted him for work to be done. These were mostly routine maintenance repairs on a rental property that I own. He came out for an estimate and arrived promptly on schedule. He scheduled the work with me and arrived on time on schedule to complete it. He was very professional and pleasant to work with. I very highly recommend him and was very happy with all the work that he did. I have many more projects on our home and will definitely contact Craig at Handy to Have Around as time and money permit. In this case, I had Craig come out twice. I originally contacted a painter fro Angies List to have him come out and do an estimate for our porch. This other painting company said they would come out, but never showed up. So I asked Craig if he could do it and he said he does do small painting jobs. So that is the reason that the work was done on two separate days and amounts ... because the first guy never showed up. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate someone who not only does great work, but does it at affordable price AND actually shows up and returns calls!

Craig did an excellent job. He re-hung the front exterior door and storm door. He came out immediately after I contacted him, gave me an estimate and we set up a date for the services. Will definitely be the first person I contact when I needs services again.

I had contacted other handymen, but non had the experience and skill set necessary to install a pocket door lock correctly without damaging the door. Craig is experienced in installing doors and locks, especially pocket doors, which are more complicated than a regular door. He was excellent and reasonably priced for the work he had to do. We are very happy with the door locks and highly recommend him.

Craig is great! Pricing is super competitive. He is professional and does extremely nice work. He newly wired and installed two ceiling fans with remotes. He was very helpful providing suggestions and not once tried to over sell or push additional work. He is patient considering I couldn't seem to make a quick decision on colors etc. the base boards are beautiful along with my new bow window he finished, matching all the new wood work. He installed new drywall, fixed a squeaky floor, painted and even installed the battery on my smoke alarm :-) Craig made sure the work was done professionally not skipping any steps or cutting corners. Craig is THE BEST. I have hired him 4 times since we purchased our 1978 home to do both major and minor things. He is very professional, thorough, and explains what my options are when it comes to repairing something. This last time we had him come to our home he replaced 3 of our toilets, installed a new light fixture in a bathroom, and hung shelves and hooks in the laundry room. I also texted Craig to ask a question about our dishwasher that wasn't working, a separate dishwasher repair person had come out to try to fix it but it turns out that the unit was frozen due to the extreme cold. Craig came by for about 30 minutes, looked over the unit and made some suggestions about how to help the area in the kitchen get back to a "regular" temperature. He made some short-term and long-term suggestions about what we could do to keep this from happening again. He is the first and only person I will call for anything in my home, and I know we'll be bringing him back soon for our next round of fixes. You cannot go wrong hiring Craig.

Craig responded within 24 hours and set up an appointment for the same week. His quote was fair, he arrived right on time with all the supplies that he needed to complete the job. He even hauled the old microwave out to the back yard and left it on the picnic table so it would be easier to transport for disposal. I would be happy to call him again. A+ job.

Craig was very professional, calling me back right away after my initial inquiry. This was a breath of fresh air as I have had a lot of recent experience with contractors and sometimes getting a call back in a timely manner can be difficult. I explained to him what I needed done and told him I would really like it completed before we hosted a family party in a couple weeks. He quoted me a price over the phone and it was exactly what he charged for the job. He was able to come out that next Monday bright and early. He was punctual, clean, and professional. The finished job left a small gap due to my husband and I having bought the wrong door. I showed my husband that evening and he asked me to call Craig to see if he could close up the gap any more. I spoke with Craig the following day and within 20 minutes he showed up with pieces to fix the gap, and finished it right on the spot at no additional charge. I was completely impressed and will reach out to Craig with additional handy man needs in the future.

Finding a handyman for us has been a long and difficult process. That is why finding Craig was very lucky. Basically we need someone who is competent but also comfortable to be around. Since I was to stay with whoever we brought into the house it was important for me to screen and approve of who would be working for us. I find someone in the house unsettling, but Craig has a great personality and he did all of the work above our own picky standards. (And I do mean picky even though I claim that I am not.) He worked on projects inside and outside of the house and took a couple of days to finish a long list of mini projects. I had a list that I compiled for over a year since our last handyman was no longer available. So finding Craig was very lucky. My list included anchoring shelving in the laundry room which included cutting the baseboard and touching up the paint so that the room looked completely finished as if the unit had even been built in. He replaced room tiles, adjusted the linen closet door that would not stay shut, fixed dry wall that was patched by someone else and had literally crumbled. He fully painted my son's bed room and patched the dozens of holes/tape tears from old posters and frames that were removed. He cleaned out a window well and installed a new shower curtain. He also put in hooks, painted trim and taped and repaired areas in the garage. The thing we were really happy with was the work he put into fixing shutters that were pulling away from the house. I only noticed one spot, but he inspected all of the shutters and repaired and replaced the anchor screws that were loose without charging us extra for finding the other problem spots. He was also helpful in finding a hole where a few mice had found their way into our house. We had had radon system put in earlier but we did not realize that they left a hole/gap that Craig filled in with steel wool, now we don't have any problems. We also wanted one of the bedroom fan lights to have a remote control and he put in the unit for the fan. The best thing he did for us was save our front door by staining it so beautifully. I wanted to just paint the door but he strongly suggested that the best thing was to stain the door and put a sealer on it. We agreed and we couldn't be happier. We were thrilled with the final result. As a matter of fact, Craig will be our new handyman and I have started a new list that I will add to before we call him again. His work was well done but again the most important thing to me was someone who I would be able to be comfortable with. I would strongly suggest Craig as a handyman. He gave us a detailed estimate, he came to work when he said he would. Craig also cleans up perfectly after his work. He is a real professional!

Our house, built in 1982, had several NuTone radio/communicators that were common from that era. Craig removed them all and replaced with drywall. In the basement, where we have paneling, he cut another piece of paneling to cover the hole and retain the pattern. He also put drywall behind this replaced hole.

I contacted Craig with only an inspection report and a list of other items that I wanted done in our new house. We were closing on the house in a couple of weeks and I needed someone who could do all of the repairs: from electrical to minor plumbing work, fixes in the attic and changing some light fixtures. He provided me a quote and his availability - just from the inspection report, without having seen the house - and I hired him to do our work. When he arrived on the scheduled date and time, I had to change the list of things I had asked him to do as our priorities had shifted (no urgent need for shower doors to be installed in bathroom, but now need a closet modified) and Craig was incredibly understanding and professional and said OK to everyting. As we walked through the house he asked a few questions, and as he did the repairs he kept me informed of the progress and any trade-off decisions to be made, and gave me his professional recommendations. He was here for 3 days (I had a long list) and I wound up adding a few more items to his list and each time he said that it was not a problem at all. He is incredibly professional, and there was nothing that he encountered that he couldn't do - from re-wiring fixtures that weren't properly installed to changing out our garbage disposal and re-working the poorly constructed plumbing under the sink. Craig does a great job, is very thorough and cleans up very well after the work. I will definitely hire him again in the future.

We called Craig about a leak in our bathroom. He came out the next day. He fixed the toilet and went to the hardware store to buy the parts he needed. We appreciate and trust Craig. He repairs out issues as if it his his own home. He fixes what needs to be fixed and doesn't recommend unnecessary purchases. Craig has helped us with plumbing, lighting and electrical. It is such a relief to know who we can call when we have an issue in our home. I highly recommend Craig when you are in need of a dependable handyman who knows what he is doing!

I checked Angie's List and was pleased with the good reviews Craig had. Craig is a knowledgeable professional and carefully assesses an issue to determine the best way to handle it. He approached both the shower door issue and the leaks under my kitchen sink in a thoughtful manner and did a great job.
