GCM Construction Professional Basement Remodeling

It went really well. They did a good job of doing the drawing. There was a lot of pressure to use him to do the designs and to hire him to do the actual construction. He gave us a lot of good ideas that we eventually implemented. He gave us a really nice 2D drawing that we used with other construction companies to do the actual construction. The price was unbelievable for some design like this. It’s fairly competitive.

They did a good job on the estimate. I ended up using somebody else, another contractor that I used before because their price was a little better and I knew them. They were very professional on the estimate, I like the way they presented it and I thought it was fair. I just happen to have another contractor that had done a job for me a couple of years ago and so I went ahead with them. They didn't bug me which I really appreciated and they didn't keep calling. They had a very nice picture, lay-out, price and the guy who came, I did like him. I was really ready to call them back and used them but in the end the people that I had used gave me a very good price so I went with them. They did measurements, they produced a plan and they brought a book showing examples and giving other ideas for me to consider. They were very polite and professional.

Amazing results! We could not be more pleased with the end product and quality of workmanship from GCM. The basement has become the nicest room in our house and we are so excited to spend time in this beautiful space. Guy was very easy to work with and very open to our concerns and questions throughout the whole process. He gave us the autonomy to pick out what we wanted, but guided us with his extensive expertise to get the results we were looking for. On several occasions, he was able to recommend creative solutions to difficult basement problems. He checked in frequently and made himself available every step of the way. From the moment we met him, we trusted he could get the job done and it would be a good investment for us to work with him. His subs were professional, friendly, meticulous, and did excellent work. Guy truly is the basement expert and took our dream basement and made it a reality!

Awesome job! We could not be more thrilled with the quality of the finished basement and our experience in working with GCM. From the initial meeting we felt extremely comfortable with Guy. We received several quotes to remodel our basement and Guy was the only one who provided a floor plan with his proposal which was very helpful. He also listened really closely to our ideas and provided some of his own (like a clubhouse for our kids under the stairs and a toy box - both of which they love). All of Guy's subcontractors were extremely nice and professional and followed the house rules that Guy had posted at the entrance to the basement. I have worked with many contractors over the years and GCM is truly one of the best. We totally trusted Guy and even left him with the keys to our home so he could work on the basement while we were out of town on vacation for a week. My kids loved seeing Guy each day and Guy's daily calls and updates are now missed as he's all done with the job. GCM is a true gem - I would highly recommend them.

Guy did a great job for us. We had about 4 weeks to do the work before moving in, and by moving date everything was finished, except some minor things that were done immediately after. We were still not living in the house at that time, and we could only go there to check on things every few days, so I gave Guy the keys to the house and trusted him with everything, since I wasn't going to be able to do much supervising. He did a fantastic job, communicated with me on a regular basis, and took care of all the details. We couldn't be happier with the end result, our basement looks like a dream, very classy, beautiful! I think his pricing was very good as well. The only thing that was not included was the flooring, which we did with Luna flooring, and that turned out really nice as well. He also did some work for us in the kitchen, including tearing down a piece of wall, drywall, some significant electrical work, new lighting on the ceiling of the living room,etc. That was an extra $1,500, not included in the price I listed above (which was for the basement). This work also turned out great. All of Guy's workers were really nice, we had no issues with anyone. They cleaned up, and Guy had someone haul away all the debris and also had someone clean the basement when they were done. I would definitely recommend his services!

We liked everything about GCM and their plan for our basement. Just need to save the money before we can go ahead with the project.

We greatly enjoyed working with Guy. When we decided to do our project, we wanted someone who worked exclusively on basements and we liked the look of GCM's work on their website enough to contact him. He got back to me immediately regarding my query, and that was a sign of things to come. One of Guy's strengths proved to be communication - he called almost daily to keep us up to date on the work schedule and small details. He was open and receptive to what we wanted, making suggestions when asked but essentially building what we requested. He was also consistently available, and could almost always be reached throughout the day and evening. He was willing to answer and address whatever questions and concerns we had almost immediately, understanding that the homeowner wants to make sure everything is being done right. While meeting with Guy had us all but convinced that he was the right person to do the job for us, he insisted on us seeing some of his work for ourselves. He set up a meeting with former clients, who welcomed me into their home and clearly were pleased with the experience of working with GCM. The quality of the work I saw was also very encouraging. Guy finished our 700-square foot basement, to which we had him add a laundry room, turning it into an open space to serve as a playroom for our 20-month-old daughter and eventually, a more adult room. Our job certainly wasn't the biggest he's done, but we felt like he was totally focused and committed to our basement - hardly a given for contractors. The room turned out great and we are very happy with the results. Our chosen purpose for the space - a play space for a child - is apparently a common one, and Guy specializes in adding kid-friendly touches to his remodels. He added a small fort-like area and a reading platform under the stairs, which otherwise would be dead space, after I saw something similar in the basement I he showed me prior to the work beginning. Both are a big hit with our daughter. There were some minor issues with quality that came up among Guy's sub-contractors, but he made it a point to attend to them either himself or by having the sub-contractor come back to remedy the problem. He didn't disengage at the end of the project, stating he wanted to make sure we were happy. We had miscommunicated at the outset of the work that we wanted a new door to the basement, and despite the project being all but complete, he quickly ordered the door, and had it hung and painted within two weeks. All in all, we would recommend GCM. We are very pleased with the work, the price was fair, and Guy's emphasis on building what the homeowner wants and working through the up and downs of the project with us made a potentially draining experience much more tolerable. His emphasis on communication and commitment to the project were much appreciated, and something we haven't had with contractors in the past. UPDATE, 3/8/16: Guy also had his electrician come back to fix a breaker that was preventing an outlet in the laundry room he built from working. Stood by his work three years after the fact.

We bought our home in the Summer of 2012 and have worked with many General Contractors on various remodeling projects ever since (some good!, some okay, some bad!), however, none were quite like Guy Hincker of GCM Construction. Guy is great! Guy is unique and has a talent for basement remodeling. After a few weeks of searching for someone to help us finish our basement, we came across Guy & GCM Construction on Angie's List. We contacted Guy and had him over to walk-through our basement with us. We knew right away that Guy was the right guy (no pun intended) to help us finish our basement. Within a few days after our walk-through, Guy presented us with a perfect design, reasonable construction plan and fair estimate. We didn't hesitate to hire Guy & GCM Construction to finish our basement! Guy and his team finished our basement within the two-month window we agreed upon and put together a beautiful basement for our growing family's enjoyment. We now have approximately 1500 square feet of wonderful additional living space in the form of an additional bedroom with a closet, full bathroom, home office with a closet, wet bar, additional storage closets and a large entertainment area/general purpose area! Guy is very easy to work with and communicate with. We would check-in daily with Guy every morning and on multiple occasions he would be present at the home first thing in the morning to go over what would be completed on that given day. We would then check-in again with Guy daily in the evening as a follow-up. Guy would address any concerns of ours or issues that arose timely and worked with us every step of the way to ensure our basement was meeting our expectations. Guy's team respected our home's rules and generally did a good job of keeping our home clean throughout the process. His teams would work from 7AM to 4PM on Mondays through Saturdays. Guy has a great contact at Home Depot that helped us choose and purchase our bar cabinets and a good contact at Luna that helped us choose and purchase our carpeting & flooring. We are very happy with how our basement turned out and are happy we decided to work with Guy & GCM Construction. Great job developing the plans but we decided to move

We needed a contractor to finish our basement in preparation to an avalanche of family guests coming to spend Thanksgiving with us. It was mid October and we had still not contracted anyone, and my wife and I were getting nervous with the project. I spoke with Guy and I liked his direct, non-nonsence approach, and really appreciated his willingness to meet with us that same evening. Due to the time crunch, we were willing to do the project in phases but upon inspecting the basement he assured us that he could have the entire basement done in time for our guests arrival. We were undecided with the layout we needed and he was very helpful in giving us options and ideas. My wife and I felt at ease talking with him, and we got a sense that he was the man for the job. The next day he sent us a schematic of the proposed layout along with an estimate. His proposal was very aggressive : turning over 700 sq ft, into a bedroom, a playroom, a TV room, a bathroom, and storage area in less than 20 days. I honestly did not think it was possible - but Guy and his team proved me wrong. They began working on the project the minute we paperwork was signed and worked around the clock until completion. His crew was very professional and courteous. Guy did a great job communicating expectations and project needs to ensure quality and timely completion. The basement was completed on schedule and the workmanship and quality surpassed all of our expectations. We would hire Guy in a heartbeat for any other remodeling job. It was a real pleasure working with him.

They did an outstanding job. We were quoted 12 weeks and they finished in less than 8. Guy from GCM was completely professional and responsive to our needs. He called us each evening to give an update and to ensure we were satisfied with the days activities. The work performed is of the highest quality. While finishing the basement they found items missed by the original house builder, 1 which could have caused an electrical fire. We love the basement and recommend GCM Construction.

It went well. He was very professional, and it was worth the visit. He walked me through everything and was very honest about the work that needed done.

GCM Construction, the owner and sub-contractors were a pleasure to work with. I first heard of GCM through an Angie?s list deal for basement plans. The deal had expired but Guy Hincker (owner) said he would honor the price. He came over and I explained what we were looking for and within a few days had the plans. After researching a few other contractors we decided to go with GCM. They weren?t the cheapest or the most expensive but for what we had put in (additional 1300 sq ft. of living space and full bathroom) his quote was more that fair. We started around Oct. 10, 2012 and wanted to be done before Christmas. Everyone from the framers to the electricians to the painters were very professional and bent over backwards to get us what we wanted and be done before the holidays. During the framing we had made some changes from the original design and everything was handled seamlessly. Guy has an eye for maximizing the space to the fullest. What some contractors would have charged more for what I would call custom work; he did them without adding on to the original contract cost. Guy is definitely someone who looks at your basement as his own and wants to get it done right and will continue to work until you are happy. My wife and I would highly recommend GCM Construction to anyone looking to have their basement finished or remodeled. We couldn?t be happier with the finished product. If you?re looking to have you?re basement finished, GCM Construction should be at the top of your list.

It wasn't a good deal. The designs were basic and incorrect. He did correct them and drop them off, but they were not worth our time . He shouldn't have charged for it. He missed our first appointment and he wasn't very professional. I'm assuming from his demeanor that he just didn't need any business. He did not provide us with any confidence to take his work any further. Update: I am so frustrated for business owners who take no accountability for the mistakes that they make and the poor customer service they provide. YOU expect ME to pick up the phone? Unbelievable. And you are wrong - you missed the appointment, there was no misunderstanding between the 2 of us. The experience was such a waste of time, I would not waste more of my time calling you back to get more of my time wasted. I was being kind by giving you a C rating. Writing the response your wrote just proves my point.

From the moment we met Guy Hincker, we knew he was the right person to complete the project (including our 15 month old triplets). He was honest in helping us make decisions (informed us of tips that would help us save money), was at our house daily to assure that the project was running smooth, was sensitive to our family's needs (especially with nap time and sleep time for the triplets), followed up with all promises and paid close attention to detail. Following the completion of the project, he provided us with a maid service (which was not part of the contract), he personally cleaned and provided a new filter for the furnace and provided us with his contact for a discount on carpeting for the basement. All-in-all, without a doubt, highly endorse Guy Hincker for your basement needs.

Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience as far as any type of follow-up. He said he did not need to make a sketch (I thought that's what the coupon was for!) and he seemed discouraged by the situation, instead of coming up with creative ideas. I never heard from him again, but I have to admit neither did I pursue him. I just figured I had to eat the $75 because he saw the situation as rather hopeless and not worth generating a design given my budget.

It went fine. The basement design was very basic. I was hoping for dimensions and so forth and actually like a blue print so he could give me a little bit of a perspective. Overall he was responsive and nice. We discussed a proposal if he were to do it.

It was okay for $75, but I didn't get much from the experience.

I was six months pregnant when the work started and my baby was 2 weeks old when the basement was completed and my baby came 4 weeks early so I feel confident that if my baby was born on her due date the basement would have been completed before she was born. I choose GCM Construstion because of his years of expeience and the price for the quality. We could not be happier with our basement. During the process I added several upgrade and changes to the orignial plan. The GCM Construction team completed all of my requests. While working with GCM constructions I was able to leverage his contractor discounts to get upgrades for my basement. If I had another remoldel I would use GCM Construction again.

The estimator was very good, efficient and kind. Overall, I had a positive experience with this company. When we get to the point of acting, we will certainly think about contacting him.

Bought the Angie's List coupon for $50 and had Guy (GCM owner) come out to measure our basement and give us an estimate. We loved Guy - he was very professional, had a lot of creative ideas, went through all of the details of the project, offered references, etc. I really like that he only does basements, as opposed to general contracting/construction, so he really knows what he is doing as has a lot of experience finishing basements. The photos of his work are amazing. We were very pleased with his estimate and drawings/proposal. We plan to use Guy to finish our basement next year. We also referred friends of ours to Guy and he started on their basement this week. So far they are very happy with him as well. Guy offers free estimates and drawings (as stated on his website), so contact him directly as opposed to going through Angie's List (they keep the $50).

Guy was very committed to scheduling the job efficiently and getting it done in a prompt but quality manner. He was out checking on the work, primarily done by two of his workers (one for demo and construction, one for painting), every day. The bulk of the work was done within a week. Everyone worked hard, cleaned up, and was courteous. There were a few delays in finishing the final items, some due to Guy, some partly due to a delay in the arrival of the windows, and several due to our own scheduling needs. During the down time, the area was left clean and all electricity was functioning. Guy was conscientious about making sure the finishing touches were done well. He did everything we asked of him, and a few additional items which we hadn't noticed but he did. After the carpet was laid, we discovered a drywall issue. He arranged for the carpet to be taken up at that spot, fixed the problem, and had the carpet reinstalled promptly. We appreciated having the painting included. Some other contractors we have talked to have required that we handle that component separately. He kept us informed in advance about when to expect workers or when there would be delays (very few and none long). Guy also gave us good advice about a dehumidifier and some lighting issues. We would use Guy again and recommend him to others.

The completed work is very nice. Our family enjoys a large entertainment space. We also have a decent amount of storage, a finished laundry room, and a great home office. The cost to do this could easily have been much higher. So I think we got a good value overall.

I had a great experience. Guy called immediately after I purchased the Big Deal to schedule an appointment. He was very accomadating as I had to reschedule several times. We recieved our designs one week after Guy came out and measured our basement.
