Budget Right Kitchens

He gave me some great plans and spent a lot of time with me. His ideas were great, but the price for the actual work was a bit high for our budget. I would definitely consider using him for future projects though.

Dirk was very personable and professional. He gave us some good ideas to help design our kitchen. The design was good, but I would have liked a larger file that we could use.

Everything went smoothly! Dirk did an excellant job with the plans!

Dirk came out and gave us some excellent ideas to update our small kitchen in a '20's bungalow. We were trying to gain some additional space and he made the suggestion to create a galley kitchen within the existing footprint rather than expand out. We initially weren't interested in that layout, and dismissed the idea and put the project off. After 6 months or so, we settled on that design for the project and completed the work in April. The main project was completed by another contractor, but I have to give Dirk at budget right credit for the layout of the final space. They were prompt at answer questions and the pricing we initially received was fair. I feel Budget Right would have done a good job with the project, but we decided to go with someone that was recommended by a friend. Mainly due to the fact that much of the final work was to be completed by us. I would strongly consider them for future projects.

He did a great design and I liked his ideas. Unfortunately I've been very sick, was forced to take an early retirement so I just can't swing it at this time.

Representative was punctual, courteous, helpful, and professional. Drawings were excellent and delivered quickly. Terrific price for a full set of kitchen plans.

He came up with some good ideas. He really listened to us and did his best to come up with some creative solutions within our constraints. He was also pleasant to work with.

Called for an appointment, contractor was extremely polite and prompt. Consult was scheduled at our convenience, and the plans were done within a few days.

Never used the offer. Had my friend/handy man redo my kitchen and he did a great job. Wish I would have gotten an estimate though and the design just to see maybe a different perspective...

Our overall experience with Budget Right was great. Dirk quickly gave us a labor-only estimate for the job. He then followed up that quote with a detailed spreadsheet that listed everything. He introduced us to Dan, the point-person for the job. Dan checked in on the job frequently, answered questions, and gave advice, which we really appreciated. One person, Alex, did the majority of the work. He really knows how to do everything, from tile, to plumbing, to electrical. He was very punctual each day and worked very hard. The job was finished in 2 weeks, as promised. We had to wait a few more days beyond that for a glass shower door because we unexpectedly needed a special size that Home Depot did not carry. After the job was completed I had a question about the final payment amount. Stephanie quickly called us to explain, in detail, the final spreadsheet line items. We have had a few bad experiences with other contractors-- it was nice to finally find a company that we could honestly recommend to family and friends, and use again ourselves!

Dirk Hoerr from Budget Right Kitchens LTD arrived promptly at the agreed upon time and was full of ideas on how to use the available space to maximize the use of our kitchen. After talking with us and understanding what we wanted, Dirk went about taking measurements and providing us with alternative ideas. He was very helpful and not overbearing. It was a pleasure doing business with him. We have not contracted out any work in the kitchen at this time.

Dirk was very responsive. I received an email from him the same day I purchased the Angie's List deal. We arranged for a time for him to come over the following week to take measurements and discuss ideas. He was prompt and offered some really good ideas that we never thought of. He provided a ballpark estimate on how much the kitchen remodel would cost. The next day he emailed us detailed floor plans. Dirk was very helpful and responsive to our questions. He provided us with a lot of ideas and will consider using his company when we decide to remodel our kitchen.

We were wanting to keep 80% of our kitchen and renovate the other portion in order to keep costs down and within our budget. The plan suggested and provided was a complete tear out of the kitchen so from the beginning it wasn't what we were wanting. The ideas were good and the final plan was good but way over our budget and not what we wanted so we chose another company.

They were very prompt and courteous and came up with some ideas that I hadn't even thought of for the design. They offered a variety of options as well for the actual remodel.

I contacted them and he came to the house and gave me a drawing. They didn't give me any suggestions and just copied from the way it was suggesting to put in new cabinets.

Overall, it was a good experience, and I encourage anyone interested in getting suggestions for a kitchen remodel give Budget Right Kitchens a call.

Most of what i have to say is in the "services performed" which was none. I don't think he listened to what I wanted and threw out alot of ideas of "how" the kitchen should be done. What was really odd, is he asked for water 3 times in about 45 minutes and then he had to use my bathroom! Really??? it wasn't even hot outside! 7/6 - Nice sarcasm to my comments. Very professional of you......and for your information I am NOT on the south side of Chgo.. Very glad I did not call you back. And I did mean Dirk - not Kurt. My mistake. And its not about how much you "cost" me, it just seemed unprofessional in my opinion, especially for the short time you were there. 7/10- I dug out my paperwork as I was not at home when I originally filed the report, and Dirk came over on May 2 at 4:00 pm. I have the list of suppliers he gave me as well. So you did come over and did not follow up. apologies????

Dirk was great. Had a lot of valid suggestions. He was very helpful and courteous. Whatever steps he suggested, he was very informative. I didn't feel pushed and he was able to answer all of my questions. I didn't get the remodel done but would definitely use him when I'm ready.

I have just one important thing to say; all the rest is detail. HIRE THIS COMPANY. The quick synopsis: 1) Dirk said it would be a 10 week job. It was done in 10 weeks. 2) The guys came every day, worked hard, did high quality work with a good eye for details, didn't cut corners. 3) They answered phone calls and emails promptly and stayed on top of the inevitable issues that are going to come up in a 100+ year old house. 4) They conferred with us regularly to make sure we were getting things done the way we wanted. They had great ideas but were also receptive to hearing how we wanted things done. The details: Dirk has assembled a top-notch team. He and Dan have high standards, great ideas, and they run a tight ship. Derek, Igor, Dan, and Dirk all came to the house before the job started to confer with us and with each other to make sure the job would get done right and get done efficiently. They each gave us their proposals for their part of the job before any of the work began. Throughout the job, Dan checked in with us to make sure we were happy with the way things were going. No detail was too small to discuss. He made sure we had control over every part of the process. He and Dirk had good ideas that improved on our original plans, and when we had ideas they gave their honest opinion. But when I insisted on doing things my way (like not painting the ceiling white, or putting in an appliance garage that took up extra counter space) they didn't argue with me. Alex and Roman did the demolition and construction: they showed up every day (sometimes even on Saturday!), worked hard, did very high quality work, and had a great eye for detail. Alex made a few changes, with our approval, that improved on our original ideas. We could tell he's not the kind of guy who just shows up to put in his time. He puts his best effort into everything, like a true artisan. Derek's team put in fantastic recessed lighting and pendulum lights over the kitchen island and dining room table. Derek checked in with us every step of the way to make sure we liked what he was doing, and he listened to our ideas and made changes when we requested them. He came over for a final check after all the lighting was in. Igor's team did the floor. In addition to putting a new floor in the main area, they redid the floor in our den. Our past contractor had patched the floor with the wrong color oak, and it looked like crap. When Igor's team was done, the floors looked liked something out of a magazine. The only hiccup we had was with the heat. They had to turn off the heat in the kitchen for a while, and the furnace went out. It took several days and multiple visits from the HVAC guy to get it fixed, and of course this happened during the coldest week of the winter. But Dan was on top of it the whole time. We called him more than once after 8 pm and on the weekend, and he always answered the phone or called us back immediately. In the past, we've had contractors who took a week to return a phone call. Dan's diligence was striking. Face it - every job will have unexpected challenges. If you want someone who will handle the challenge head-on and not give up until the problem is solved, Dan is your guy. Did I mention you should hire this company? I'm going to. They're coming back to redo my bathroom. As soon as I finish paying for the kitchen.

Dirk met with us and laid out a suggested design to remodel our kitchen. Excellent design, and great workmanship by all work groups. Electrical more involved than we initially thought, and was done extremely well. Most appreciated was the work done on our floors, replacing our hardwood. Work was so well done, we chose to extend work to include the living room, thanks to Dirk's suggestion. The rooms look fantastic! Our kitchen cabinets were replaced, as well as a quartz counter, and backsplash tile, along with replacing our sink. Everything in Dirk's design turned out better than we could have imagined! We were most impressed with the way all of Dirk's crew kept us totally apprised of every situation, and prepared us for all of the work they would be doing, so we could do the "little" things, like protect the furniture in the rest of the house, etc. Both the project manager, Dan, and his lead man, Alex, were talking with us on nearly a daily basis. Things really did work like the "well-oiled machine" we'd heard about. The work of Budget Right was exceptional, but their customer service even BETTER! We would highly reccommend them to anyone who has an undertaking of this sort.

Great. Dirk emailed right away to schedule a time and was prompt. He was very friendly and professional, and had some great ideas for the space. He stayed for about an hour, looking at the kitchen and brainstorming, then measuring. And in a matter of days, he emailed me detailed plans. I told him I probably wouldn't renovate the kitchen for a year or so and there was NO pressure on his part. A great experience all around. I would use them if and when we decide to renovate.

Dirk gave us an honest, straight-forward assessment of what we wanted, what we could afford, and what our dream kitchen would cost. He sent over plans within 5 hours of our meeting. I highly recommend Budget Right for honest, professional service, and will not hesitate to use them again.

I would recommend them. The experience went wonderfully. They got the bathroom done about a week before the deadline that I had given them. They were craftsmen. They cleaned up the site every day.
