They are almost done; they are outside now and it looks great. The panels and the gates would cost me $1500. It looks very good and nice. When Todd, the salesman, came out and told me all the products that they had because I was interested in using vinyl or the composite, and he told me how it would look. The vinyl was a little bit cheaper but I went with the composite because it looks a lot studier. In 10 minutes he had the proposal for me and I went with it the same day. The salesman was on time, very nice and customer oriented. It took four and a half weeks from the time I gave the deposit to the time they ordered everything. They called me yesterday and set up the installation for today.
Description of Work: Right now we are using Advanced Fence and Gate. I called them out 3 weeks ago. I had 2 gates put in and a side panel on the fence. I used their composite wood.

The entire job went very well. Dave came out and measured and gave us an estimate. The job was scheduled for May 31st. The workers came out and took down our old chain link fence and put up all the posts on May 31st. They came back on June 1st and finished the job and hauled away our old fence. They were very professional and did a wonderful job and our fence looks beautiful. We would highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Dave from Advanced Fencing was very professional. He was very prompt in returning calls and coming out to estimate the job. They removed our old fence and hauled it away and installed a beautiful 6 ft. red cedar fence with two gates. They began the work on May 31st and finished the job on June 1st. It looks wonderful, we wish we had installed this fence years ago. The workers were very prompt and professional and we would highly recommend this company. We have recommended you to our neighbor who is looking for a fence now that she saw our beautiful fence. Thank you! Jim & Judy Wolter

Our backyard fence swayed in the wind and I had used shims between the base of the rotting fence posts and the ground to keep it upright for five or six years. I interviewed three fencing companies and selected Advanced Fence & Gate because of what I perceived as extreme competence, knowledge and desire to do a very professional job. Owner and estimator Todd Kopke asked a very important question: Do you plan on staying in the house more than 10 years? The answer was yes, so he recommended steel C-posts rather than the wooden fence posts (which on our 15 year old fence were rotting at the base). Todd provided an architectural-like drawing of the proposed fence with the very detailed estimate and contract. We agreed on May 23 and 24, 2011 for the installation. On day one Supervisor Manny and a co-worker took down the old fence and removed all the footings (one fence company that gave me an estimate said they wouldn't remove the old footings, just cover them up). Manny and a coworker then mixed concrete and set the new steel C-posts. The second day they installed 134.5 feet of fencing 6 feet high ($4025.00) and installed 6x4 high feet 2x2 spindle picker western red cedar fencing and one walk gate ($355.00). They hauled away the dirt ($7 per for each of the 23 post holes for a total of $161.00). The installation team did an outstanding job--they asked several key questions before they undertook tasks like placement and swing of the gates. At least 10 neighborhood people stopped by to watch them work and ask questions. The end result is a fence that is beautiful to the eye and will withstand winds of 70 mph. The new 6x4 high fence and gate between the new fence and the old deck blends in seamlessly. I had thought it would looks out of place. But it fits right in. Bravo on meeting and exceeding our expectations.
Description of Work: Installed 134.5 feet of fencing and replaced a backyard gate and 6x4 feet of fencing between the new fence and the old deck.

I had waited 6 weeks for a landscaping company to hook me up with their fencing subcontractor. I called Advanced Fence & Gate directly and Todd came with a truck full of wood samples and product photos. He drafted a contract on the spot and sent me more photos by email in the next few days. They quoted me a price half what the landscaper/subcontractor were charging, for a similar product. The team came at 10 AM and were all done by 2, I could not believe how fast this fence went up. it looks amazing and for the price I am supremely satisfied. Skip the middleman, just call Advanced Fence.

We'd actually had them come out late last fall but deferred getting the fence until after winter because there wouldn't have been time to seal it before the snow came. They honored our quote from that time, and worked very efficiently when they came to the house. It was done in one day. We're very happy.
Description of Work: We had an old fence around our city lot that needed replacing. We could barely open the door because it was sagging, and the support poles were rotten. We replaced it with a cedar, traditional style, fence and love it! The door opens smoothly (still getting used to that!) and the whole fence looks wonderful. Now we just have to find someone to seal it so it doesn't lose that cedar color.

During last fall's gale-force windstorm, we lost the cedar fence in the backyard of our newly-purchased house. Since we're on a corner lot, this meant a fairly substantial project for new homeowners like us. It was an intimidating prospect to say the least, so I called the top three listed vendors on the list, along with the company that had initially installed the fence some 18 years ago. Advanced was definitely the quickest, most prompt and on schedule of the companies as far as getting back to us and making the estimate - which, additionally, was the lowest of the batch as well! We scheduled the work for approximately a week later, the company had a substantial backlog due to the storm damage so i had anticipated having to wait longer. Not only did they arrive spot on time the day of the work, but they completed the project in less than a single afternoon! They hauled away the old fence and kept the yard very clean as well. We have a weird property line along the back sidewalk with two mature trees directly in the middle of the fence line, and they were able to fit the fence around the trunk of the trees with minimal direction. I've had a couple of inquiries from neighbors about who had done the work since it was so nice, and I was happy to pass along the information. The only small beef would be that, possibly due to the speed of the project, the lower line of the fence didn't fit quite as closely to the ground as the previous one had, and the wood used was not clear (eyeless) cedar-- but given the price, I certainly can't argue. Would absolutely recommend these guys to other neighbors and would work with them again - although hopefully we won't need a new fence for a long time!
Description of Work: They measured, priced and installed a new board and batten cedar fence along the side yard property line and rear alley entry next to the garage, with two security gates. They also removed the old, damaged fence as well.

We had Todd give us an estimate in the summer. We were impressed by his promptness and professional manner. We decided to have him do the fence until next spring. Unfortunately, the weather and our two dogs made it necessary to have the new fencing done in November. We called Todd and he promptly came out again and gave us the same estimate. We were concerned that the weather would affect the quality of work. Todd told us not to worry and he was right! We were very satisfied with how quickly and smoothly everything went, from beginning to end. We would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We decided to get a new fence, instead of repairing the wooden posts and fence every year. Todd came out promptly and was very helpful in suggesting steel c-posts instead of the all wood posts. The crew came out promptly and took down 137' of fencing pulling out 6 posts and concrete footings. Furnish and install 133' of 6' shadowbox with cap western red cedar fencing with steel c-posts with 1 gate 10'of existing take down on south side and install 41' of 6' high shadowbox with cap board fencing on c-psts with 1 walk gate. In rear of property take down and haul away 212' of existing wood fencing. Furnish and install 212' of 6' high black vinyl chain link fencing. Permit obtained from Village. The crew worked continuously, and even came out early Thanksgiving morning to complete the finishing touches. They were very professional and neat in taking down the old fence and putting up the new fence, in spite of the weather.

All went well. The fence was installed in a timely and professional manner. It looks great and everything was delivered right on budget. Most surprising: Todd the salesman actually did a follow-up call and visit. I don't recall any other contractor ever doing that before. Highly recommended on our part. - Steve McKenzie Chicago, IL
Description of Work: When our cedar fence was damaged in a wind storm, Advanced Fence did an excellent job in replacing it. Although I got quotes from several companies here on Angie's List, the Advanced Fence representative (Todd) was the only one to provide detailed information, provide multiple samples and generally explain the costs/benefits of each option. Ultimately we had our entire fence replaces, since it was 15 years old. We had hidden metal posts installed to better support the fence overall.

The first time I called when I noticed a loose post, it was after hours on a Saturday and I left a message, which was not returned. When I called again 2 weeks later (after having called some other companies that did not impress me and were expensive for a relatively small repair), I called again during business hours and spoke with someone who set up an appointment for just 2 days later. The company rep came out and looked at the problem, plus listened to my other concerns about the fence and answered questions. He wrote up the estimate at my house and it was reasonable, and I was able to make an appointment for the following week (pretty common time frame based on having called other companies). Better yet, he called the next day and said they were going to be in our area the following day, and asked if they could come then and do the repairs. I was not home for the work, but when I came home and inspected the work, it was all done as I expected and looked good. No mess was left. I will certainly use them again if I need fence repair.

Todd came out very quickly and gave a quote within a day or so. When I decided to go with them I was able to get it scheduled within the week. Two guys came out and did a great job on the fence. The quality of the fence is great and the boards are straight. Posts are set in concrete. All of it was stick built on the site. I had considered a diy job with materials from Menard's. I am so glad I went with Advanced Fence though. The extra money was worth it for way better quality. They also had the best price of 3 others I got quotes from.

We had a good experience. Their prices are comparable to other services. Two workmen were on time (actually a little bit early). They specifically pointed out what the problem was (the previously installed posts had only 6 inches of cement at their base, whereas the code in our area requires 42 inches of cement), and installed two new posts to code. They completed the work in just under 2 hours. They cleaned up reasonably well afterward.

I can't say enough good things about our experience with Todd and company. He and his company were amazing from start to finish. When we first got the estimate from Todd, we had already received a couple of other estimates. When Todd came over, it was clear that he was going to get the job because he gave us so many more options, went over everything so meticulously, and gave us great suggestions without being pushy or overly "salesy." We knew nothing about installing fencing, so his expertise (again, without pushing us into anything we didn't want) was invaluable to us. He spent a lot of time with us going over things and even cheerfully made another trip back to our home to discuss the project when we changed the plan a bit, so that he could make sure it was exactly right and exactly to our specifications. I still can't get over how much time he spent explaining the different options and making sure we chose exactly what we wanted within our budget. We were also so glad he told us about the galvanized steel posts, which really extend the life of the fence, that we could choose instead of just plain cedar posts, because it didn't really add that much more to the cost of the project. Another great asset Todd brought to the project was that he was very, very communicative and very prompt in returning calls. He let us know from start to finish everything that was going to happen with the project every step of the way. The actual fence installation was a two day process. Day one consisted of tearing down the old fence (they cut the old chain link posts down very close to the ground and you can't even tell they were even there) and digging holes, installing the new posts and filling in the holes with concrete to secure the posts. The workers, who were extremely friendly and extremely patient with all of our questions and concerns, did a great job and were totally pro and polite. They neatly placed the old fence parts out in the alley, per our request, where the neighborhood metal/junk guys came by almost instantly to retrieve it all. That helped save us a little bit of money in haul away. The second day consisted of installing the actual fencing, which was done so beautifully that we still can't believe it only took one day to actually get all the cedar planks up. These guys work really, really hard and they do not cut corners on the quality of their work. It was a warm and sunny day, so we made sure we offered them water and soda throughout the day, which the guys really appreciated. In addition to doing an excellent job on building the fence, they also did a fantastic job of cleaning up our yard and our neighbor's yard (where they needed access, of course, to build the fence). The workers were also very careful with our plants and other landscaping that were right in the path of where the fence was to be built. They managed to get that fence up with minimal disturbance of our plants. They had to do a few little unexpected tweaks to our fence and to the area where our old chain link fence connected to our neighbors' fences, but they didn't have the right materials with them at the time, so they told me they would come back another day to complete the work. Both Todd and the foreman, Manuel, confirmed this with me and, as promised they did indeed come back to finish things up and, again, did a great job. It has been over a month now and we just can't believe how gorgeous our fence looks and how it has just livened up our property. Our adjacent neighbors are thrilled with how the fence looks, too, which we were very concerned about initially, since the fence affects them, too. By the way, for those interested in a traditional style fence, like we chose, Todd had informed us when we were going over the plans, that the cedar planks do shrink a bit after installation, so you always get a thin (1/8" to 1/4") space in between the planks after the fence "settles." Because they did such an amazing job building the fence, the spaces look very natural and even and almost add an aesthetic element to the fence. We're very, very happy with the work Todd and crew did and would definitely use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Tore down approximately 72 feet of chain link fence in our backyard and built, in its place, a 6' cedar traditional-style privacy fence, with galvanized steel posts covered with cedar planks, with a taper down to 4' in one small area, and one entrance gate with lock and latch.

Todd was able to come out and give a quote right away and listened to all of our requests. We received a written quote a couple of days later. They were willing to work with our paving contractor (we were also installing a paver patio and raised flower beds at the same time) to get the posts in and then come back and finish the fence walls. However they told the paving company they were coming to put in the walls on a certain day and they didn't show up. We were able to get them out again for another week all the while putting our paving/raised flower bed project on hold. Once they did come back they worked quickly and the fence looks great. So they only issue was the scheduling with the two different contractors.
Description of Work: we wanted a 5 foot cedar shadowbox fence with a trellis top for our back yard, a locked gate at the alley and another unlocked gate at the front of the property.

This was an annoying job for all involved considering the company had to work around an existing fencing that wasn't made anymore, so there were a few misunderstandings. Unfortunately, there were some communication issues and the feeling that I was bugging the foreman and installers with my "pesky" questions. There was a leveling issue and they came out to try to rectify it. I still feel it is not plumb but do not want to bother them again even though they said I could. Overall, I am happy with the fencing and it is much better now than unfinished. Advanced Fence & Gate stand behind their product and their service and promise to get it right to your satisfaction. Todd and Rachel were very friendly and helpful and installers worked in the heat and in the rain. That is impressive.
Description of Work: My husband and I moved into a house where there was only a partial vinyl fencing that needed to be finished off to close off back yard and extend it. Todd K spent the time needed to find us a fencing that was very close to our existing fencing that could not be matched up since it was not made any more. We are very happy with the match up. It is very close to the existing that the difference is barely noticed.
