Advanced Fence & Gate

It was a great experience. The company showed up on time and provided an estimate on the spot. I called to schedule and they got to me within a couple of weeks. They showed up on time, were friendly and worked very quickly which was great considering I have 4 dogs and every day without a fence is a challenge. They finished in two days even though they had to set concrete and work through a forest. They were considerate of my landscaping too. The only thing I can suggest is they give more details about permits and surveys when someone schedules a job - I was surprised that I needed to do that and wasn't told until a week prior to them coming out. But besides that, everything was great and I would highly recommend them!!

I found them on Angie's List and things went great; we were very happy with them. They were very professional and on top of things so we had no problems at all. I recommend them and everything was handled the way it should be. Everything was done on time so they were very punctual.

This was an outstanding experience. We were originally told that the project could take two days. The crew arrived at 8:45 in the morning, and the entire job completed, including site cleaning by 2:30 the same afternoon. They first had to remove the existing fencing, including digging out the concrete around the existing posts. They had to install entirely new postwork, integrating the fence alignment with both our house and a stand-alone garage as well as several rock fence pillars. The crew worked carefully and professionally, making certain that the fence work was plumb and aligned to the property correctly. After constructing an excellent fence, the crew took care to clean the construction site. Throughout the day, many neighbors came by to sidewalk superintend; all were amazed at how quickly the work proceeded and quality with which it was performed. They were also surprised at what all considered to be an excellent price.

Called Todd for an estimate, Todd was out within two days, talked to my wife and left an estimate for the project. I reviewed the estimate, received two other quotes from Angie's List fence contractors within the same week. Todd's quote was the best quote, not only dollar wise but thoroughness and attention to detail. Didn't quite believe the price and quality even though Advanced had such good reviews, too good to be true. After reviewing the two other quotes and talking to their salespeople, Advanced offered the best price and value for the project. Decided on Advanced, filled out the paperwork, sent in the deposit and platte of survey. Todd called two days, confirming receipt of the paperwork and scheduling the install date. Todd got the permit and within the week, installation crew arrived on schedule, hottest weekend of the year, crew accomplished removal and haul of existing fence and setting of all new posts. Installation crew back on Monday to install fence. Good quality red cedar, finished fence looks great. Impressed with the quality of the gate construction and the 6 x 6 gate posts. Installation crew was excellent. Overall Todd and the installation crew did an outstanding job, very happy with their work.

Todd came to the house to examine some fallen sections of our fence and advise on the best way forward. Rather than recommending replacement of the entire fence, he recommended we save money and instead repair several of the posts and replace only those few fence sections that needed to be replaced. He was friendly, honest and professional. The work was completed by the crew in less than one day and we didn't even need to be there while the work was being done. The final product is attractive and will allow us to get a few more years out of the fence before we replace it. I have no doubt we will use Advanced Fence & Gate to do the replacement of the whole fence when the time comes - the whole experience was effortless and the pricing was fair.

As is our practice, we had proposals from several fence companies. Advanced was not he least expensive, but was certainly competitive. The sales person who came out to assess the project, was courteous and knowledgeable. Once we decide on Advanced, my contact was with their office and the person I spoke with (on several occasions) was also knowledgeable, efficient and very pleasant. We were originally told once we had our permit from the village, they would put us into the schedule and it would be about three weeks for them to come out and do the job. When I did receive approval, I called and they were able to fit us in within the week. Their installation crew was actually early by about an hour and performed the work quickly and efficiently. The fence is installed on site and they had some adverse conditions to deal with as we had several inches of rain the night before. The fence looks even better than we anticipated and we have had several neighbors comment on how nice it looked.

Todd came to give an estimate and then came back to answer a few questions we had. The estimate was lower than one estimate and the same as one other. His crew came out and took the old fence down and installed the posts one day and finished the job the next. Did everything they were expected and the fence looks great. Very happy with the job.

We enjoy the fence and their workers so much we called them up to put up another fence. They are a little more expensive than getting a handyman but I’m looking at the fence right now and they do very nice work. They are very nice guys. There was some difference of opinion about some posts that were in the wrong way. Instead of saying “Sorry, ma’am, but you okayed it,” which I don’t think I did but they think I did, he just said, “Okay, no problem, we’ll just remove them.” When I asked what the charge was going to be he said there would be no charge. I think they built enough profit into their price. I’ve never dealt with anyone so nice. The materials they used were good, the people they sent were good, and the follow-up was good. If I could have gotten it for a better price it would have been nice. But the price was fair or I wouldn’t have gone with them at all. I would give the price an A-. For what you get it’s a very good price. I’m always looking for a better price but I think if I had gotten a better price I wouldn’t have gotten as good of work. If we end up putting up another fence I’m not even going to get estimates from other people. I’m just going to call them back.

Todd came out to provide estimate. Brought lots of material samples with him (by request). He was able to help us narrow down our material and fence style, including some lattice sections. He quickly returned a quote - everything in the quote was accurate, separated out by the different options we were considering. Todd quickly responded to questions via email so we could make our decision. We mailed in our deposit and JULIE was out within a few days to mark the gas and water lines. They called me a few days later to schedule the install. The whole process, from start to finish, of requesting estimate, to providing estimate, to install was no more than 3 weeks. The install went very smoothly. I had some questions for the installers that were handled very well. They made some recommendations with a couple areas that didn't dig out as expected - and they were great suggestions. They swept up after themselves. Invoicing was accurate. Overall, I felt this was an extremely well-run operation. Couldn't be happier!

Our initial contact was for a long fence side yard the "interview" w/Todd was great-explained everything from be siding to end of project - mad samples etc. Made it easy to make a decision the father/son combo dave Pedro were efficient more than competent neat, professional @ don't consider the job finished until we were more than satisfied.

Todd came out and quoted the fencing for us within a few days. We had just bought a house and the contractor had only put up about 50 feet of the cheap big box store treated wood fencing. So we had a few fencing companies come out and quote us and Todd was not the lowest or the highest but based of the actual quote and information and discussions we choose Advanced. A few weeks later they came out to install the fence and we ran onto a gas line problem that JULIE had marked out. We would not be able to take the fence all the way down the side of the house. After discussing the issue with the supervisor, I called Todd. Todd and I agreed that the additional 30~35 feet of fencing that originally was to go down the side of the house would be used to replace the cheap fencing used by the previous owner. Almost the entire old fence had been replaced except for the post that were installed a year before. Because Advanced did not use the post I was credited $100 back on the final invoice. I did not know that would be coming back to us and what a nice surprise that was. What a difference in quality of lumber that Advanced used compared to the big box cheap looking fence. Nice Job!

Our decision to have Advanced give us a bid was based on the many good reviews on Angie's. Todd came out to give the estimate. He arrived exactly when he said he would, unlike some other bidders. He was quite knowledgeable and explained the options. He brought up potential long term issues with trees and maintenance that we hadn't thought of. He was able to write-up a bid on the spot, rather than emailing it later, as some other bidders had to do. The bid price was also quite competitive. They made the whole process easy, because they even took care of the permits (for the City of Evanston). They started and finished work on the dates estimated. The only problem that we ran into was more an issue with our house, rather than what they could control. It turns out that our outdoor outlets didn't handle the load of their power tools, so it flipped the circuit breakers. I would definitely recommend using them.

Overall the project went well. We had some issues with property lines and all, but the crew handled it very well. The job was inspected and passed the first time.

They showed up a week early to install the posts and make final measurements for building the large metal gate frames. A week later they came out to put another coat of paint on the posts. The following Monday (once the frame was built) they came out for the major installation. Todd is a master at customer service. He made sure everything we were concerned about was communicated to the workers, who did a first rate job. The one glitch was when the guys wanted to use an angle-iron as the transom between two 2.5" square metal posts. That was going to look very cheesy. A quick call to Todd, and they will replace with a 2" square tube as soon as they are in the area again.

They are a fencing company. They performed the services well. They did an excellent job. I wanted something cheap too and the job turned out to be way better than I had expected. I spent $2000 on their services. These guys were excellent. I would rate them a 100% on everything. They did a really good job and it turned out better than I thought. They did the job and I have zero complaints about them. I will use their services again in the future. I’m going to use them in the spring to do the other half of my yard that I didn’t get done.

We did plenty of research (received 11 total quotes for the work) before deciding to choose Advanced Fence. Advanced was very professional, explaining everything they could offer down to small details like how the fence panels attach to the posts and what kind of options we could choose from for the gate locks. Advanced quote was very detailed, easy to read and included options for everything discussed on-site. Advanced even forwarded a copy of their insurance with the proposal (only company to do that). We specifically requested that Advanced try to get our fence installed prior to Thanksgiving. Advanced accommodated our request and completed all the work by 11/22. I communicated with Todd mostly via email. Todd was extremely responsive to all of my questions and requests. Our overall experience with Advanced was excellent and I would highly recommend using them for this type of work.

Todd was very professional and his responsiveness to any inquires was excellent. The crew worked hard and they seemed to know what they were doing, but they did not clean very well. My only complain is the "excessive" charge of 3% of the total amount if paying with a credit card. Overall we are happy with the work.

The work turned out excellent. I was extremely happy with them. They did exactly what they told me they were going to do. They came on time, the work turned out beautiful, and I am very satisfied.

Todd Kopke is very knowledgeable and answered all my questions about the different types of fencing available. From the start we wanted a fence using metal posts to avoid common wood rot where the post meets the ground. This type of fence is not available from most of the fence companies we contacted. Todd was extremely helpful in helping us choose the fence we wanted and still maintain an aesthetically pleasing design. I am extremely picky about these things and asked Todd to price things out for me in different ways multiple times. He was always friendly and helpful through the whole process even after I changed my mind about details several different times. In the end we got exactly what we wanted - a beautiful fence with 2.5" boxed out posts so this will last a long time since no wood is touching the ground. This method is more expensive than traditional wood posts but we felt it was worth it. No other fence company offered this type of fence with boxed out metal posts. We have received numerous compliments on the fence - it is extremely well built with high quality materials. The other thing I like about Advanced Fence is their "no haggle" pricing. It is calculated, marked up so the price is the price you and everyone else gets. My only complaint would be how the fence was graded at the back. We communicated to Todd that we were in the process of having the entire yard regraded to so water wouldn't pool up and instead flow into the alley. They however built the fence based on the current yard grading. I wished they would have advised us to build it according to what would be the new grading at alley level since that's how it needed to be done properly. That was a major detail that fell through the cracks and I felt that since they are experts they should have advised us accordingly especially since they knew what our yard plans were from the start.

Advanced Fence and Gate was extremely professional and courteous during the entire process, and they quickly fit us into their schedule. They provided several options, used quality materials, and did an excellent job. The gates and fence are well-made, and the fence looks beautiful. In fact, we have received several compliments on its appearance. I was especially appreciative that they avoided removing bushes along the property line so that my neighbor and I were both satisfied with the outcome.

It was a great experience! I emailed them through Angie's List and they responded via email to set-up the appointment. Todd arrived promptly for the morning appointment. I really appreciate Todd's honesty and knowledge. We don't know that much about fences so he could have easily told us that we needed a new fence immediately. We were amazed at his integrity and insight into fences. We have recommended him to several of our family members and friends. And we will definitely call Todd in the future when we replace our fence.
