Overall it went fine. Great communication with the owner. The weather didn't cooperate so the project took aprox. 3 weeks. They accidently left the hose on over night, but took $50 off the total bill.
Description of Work: They power washed, and re-stained our deck and screened in porch.
- Given quote by contractor for bathroom and gutter project - Contractor visited the house, and also emailed me the quotes - scheduled appointment for both jobs on July 14 - I purchased the new tub, surround, fixtures and drywall - all are in my garage. - I had the city shut off the water to my home on the 14th before contractor arrived - On July 14 I received aphone call in the morning that they would notbe able to do the bathroom, and they asked to reschedule. - I rescheduled for my next day off, the following Monday. - July 14, a worker came out and removed the gutters, but did not have a long enough ladder to remove the last few feet. He will return later this week. - Nails were not replaced and now the fascia trim is not secure at the top, there are just a bunch of nail holes. Emailed contractor to have this fixed when worker returns to remove the last few feet of gutter. - Called to put the deposit down on the shower/tub project and pay for the gutter removal - Received a call that contractor would be out to the do the bathroom remodel in the afternoon but may not finish it all. - Received an email that I would still be able to use the shower even if all the drywall was not finished, and they would come out another day to finish the drywall - Responded to contractor that that was not acceptable and the bathroom needs to be done in one day. Suggested I could find another contractor if they cannot finish the project in one day. - Contractor offered to refund my deposit and that I should find another contractor because they don't have time to do my bathroom project. - Was told a check would be dropped off when the worker comes to finish removing the gutter; still no response on the nail holes or how much the refund will be. (Deposit was for both projects) After thinking about this, I'm extremely disappointed. I have bathroom "parts" in my garage, and no new bathroom. This has been a huge inconvenience for us and I'm now on the hunt for a legit contractor to get this project done before August. I honestly don't understand why someone would schedule an appointment and take a deposit if they knew they were unable to complete the job as requested. Still hoping to have the nails replaced in the fascia and last part of the gutter removed, and waiting for an invoice on the work that was done and the amount they will be returning. I just don't get it.
Description of Work: They came to the house and gave me a quote on removing my gutters and nailing up the fascia trim; also a quote on removing my current tub/surround and fixtures and replacing them. Work that was done: Gutters were removed. The worker did not have a tall enough ladder and will be back to remove the last few feet of gutters. Worker did not replace all nails that were removed; requested that the nails are replaced when he returns to remove the last part of the gutter.

I really don't get it either, being that this review was written while we are trying to work with you. Two major mistruths about this job. One you never told us the city would shut off the water. Why would they do that when we could get to the shut off and do it our self. Two you never said you wanted this done in one day. I hope you find a contractor that can do a full bathroom remodel and drywall patch and repair in one day. I personally don't think they are out there if you want a quality job done. I'm sorry this did not work, but like I said above we were not complete with the exterior not because of a ladder but because my employee was stung by hornets several times. I care about our guys and told him to leave immediately take care of the stings. I will issue a refund and again an apology, however think a lot was left out and needed to be communicated before agreeing to the remodel. We can do a lot to accommodate customers but those need to be coupled with reasonable expectations.

I apologize for not getting in contact with you. First, we have not run these deals for 2 years, so I'm not sure why your writing this now instead of contacting us at the time of service. Second as you mentioned, we did reach out to you. We called a couple of times, left a couple of messages and sent emails. I'm not sure why you didn't return our calls or email to begin with. If you would like to have this service performed even though it has been expired for 2 years, I will honor it and take care of the visit.

I used this provider last year to power wash our house and was pleased with the results; so this year, when an Angie's Deal of the Day came up for deck refinishing, I bought it. Our 35-year-old deck was in serious need of some TLC; and the stain we had put on last year didn't seem to do much to protect it. The rainy spring/early summer weather didn't work in our favor; but once we were able to schedule the work, everything went well. Phone calls were returned promptly, and the crew that did the work did a wonderful job. I wanted to upgrade to a special-order, industrial-quality stain, and they confirmed the quality of the product as I had researched online and were able to accommodate me. I also paid extra for them to take care of the privacy panel, which was not part of the original deal. I couldn't be happier with the results, and I hope that the deck will hold up much better with this improved product on it and appreciate their expert advice and workmanship.

Porch was larger than what was included in the deal. It appeared that it was washed well, but stained in between rains and some washed off. He returned to stain areas again in a timely manner. Did not last through the winter and need to recontact to have it touched up. I was advised that their work was guaranteed for a year. Hopefully it can be done for the summer and last through the next winter. Added: Still has not fixed the issue. Did very poor job and it was a big waste of money. Did not last a month, and then told it must have been the condition of the patio. If was the condition, it was not., maybe advise prior and return the money so I can get someone who will do the work properly. Refuses to fix.
Description of Work: Cleaned and stained wood porch.
GR power washed and re-stained our rather large deck and balcony. They recommended, and with our approval, used quality oil based stain. Also, they replaced a couple of boards on the railings as well as re-screwed down some slightly warped deck boards. Their crews were punctual and worked efficiently. I would use them again.
Description of Work: We needed our deck and 2nd floor balcony re-stained. Our deck starts out at ground level and then because our lot slopes down hill, 90% of the deck is 10 to 12 feet off the ground and includes a size-able stairway.
The two gentleman that came out were very efficient, professional and just generally pleasant. The job was done well in a timely manner and we were left no clean-up to be done. We would use GR General Contracting again.
Description of Work: We purchased the exterior power house washing. Due to hard water stains this was not successful. The gentleman that came out really tried and was very nice. He called the owner and said it was not going to work. Mr. Rudd was very accommodating and said that he would work with us to complete a different project. Due to our combined schedules, we put this off until this spring. We decided on re framing an exterior door.

The work done was excellent. Despite finding additional damage that required more labor and materials, GR honored the original estimate and did the work done excellently. We had a problem with bad grout coming up a couple weeks after the work was completed, and they came out free of charge and replaced the problem areas. Additionally, the materials they used were top grade. The bathroom is now in better shape than it ever was. I would absolutely recommend them, and would work with them again.

Started out with good communication. but soon after missed a couple days then when the tiles were put in there was a misunderstanding with the trim then the tile was put down and very uneven. pointed it all out before the grout was put in. But was told that how it supposed to look. But brand new sub flooring was put in so that would have nothing to do with the unevenness, also which made the trim uneven. After all was done I asked about the unevennes? Nothing can be done about that. But did put more grout down to compensate. But now it's all just breaking apart. Just expected better Tiles are uneven in which makes the trim uneven. The grout is coming out in some areas. And is 2 different shades. Did come back out and fixed a small are in 1 of the bathrooms. Just not all of it. It was stated that the floor is uneven. but my house is only 8 years old and they had put sub flooring first. Even when one off his guys came out to redo the different color grout in one bathroom and he commented on how bad the other one was. I mean really? The floor trim pieces are to short.

I'm very sorry to hear that after one year after the installation of this product your now unhappy. I explained when we saw the tile you bought and even commented " I really like the tumbled stone look to" that this was a rustic look. You said that's why you picked it out. After 1/2 the floor was put down you mentioned the unevenness. I again mentioned that's the tile you have purchased. Each of these tiles is not the same thickness, it is a cobble stone look. You said, that would be fine and it looks great. As for the grout, we did come back to repair a hairline fracture in the grout. If there are other issues now, we are unaware of them. We always strive to achieve high levels of customers service and satisfaction. We understand service calls may be required for different projects. What I can't control is the product that is used, and the fact that after a year a decision that the tile is no longer liked.

He was quick to respond to my request for a quote. He arrived on time and was professional. He answered my questions and gave a few suggestions of his own. He took measurements of the rooms. He was able to get a quote to me in an efficient time. He provided a detailed quote for each aspect of the remodel project. I have not had any work done to this point due to waiting for summer to come. GR contracting is definitely in the running for the job.

It was barely fair. I wasn’t happy with the service. I was under the assumption that when they power washed the house, they would use some kind of soap or something and it was just water. We had to go a couple of times around the house to have them redo it. They didn’t use any solutions to take of the grime and stuff. I kept having phone tag with the guy.

I communicated in setting up the appointment that the one area in need of repair was a 3rd floor dormer window and difficult to reach from the office roof as a 6 foot step ladder was not long enough. The crew of 2 people arrived and after I explained what needed to be done to the 3rd floor window and then a first floor crawl space entrance they got ladders out and did some reviews/inpspections of the two areas and then left in the vehicle they came in for close to an hour. Upon returning they worked on the 1st floor crawl space entrance and then came to the door to inform me they didn't have a long enough ladder to do the work on the 3rd floor so they would need to come back another day. After they left I looked at the 1st floor work and found that they used unpainted/untreated wood and did not caulk the area which is only a few inches off the ground. I then contacted the company to ask if they could prime and caulk this area when they came back to finish the 3rd floor. It was confirmed that they would as was a tentative date for a return visit. After that day came and went I happened to look at the 3rd floor window and noticed that it was done and then went around to look at the 1st floor to find that it was still not primed or caulked. I completed that work as it fortunately was warm enough to do that before the rains started. Upon replying back to the company that I completed this and inquired if any other wood spots on the 3rd floor were found I received a reply back that no other spots were reported but no acknowledgement of the 1st floor work that wasn't completed. To be clear the work done seems to be good quality and maybe priming an caulk was a wrong assumption on my part but had they shared the plan to fix the area I could have primed the wood before they installed it. Also the fact I had to follow up instead of they contacting me it came across that the company was doing the bare minimum to honor the coupon value instead of looking at this as an opportunity for doing all they could to take care of the customer with the opportunity to gain additional business in the future which was my goal in trying them out for this.

Thank you for purchasing the big deal. They did not prime the areas because they used treated lumber. As for caulking, we did caulk the areas above when we came back to finish the work. We were going to caulk the lower areas the same day however you had already completed that. We did not do it that day because of the beginning of a strong rain. We did have to make another trip, which should have been deducted from the time of 4 hour coupon. We did not take out the time and actually went over on hours. The reason we had to come back is because you said the work was just out of reach for you on a 6 foot ladder. The work was 25 feet in the air. We only had a 20 foot ladder that day. The work was a little higher than that of a 6 foot reach.

I had to initiate all contacts. Provider responded only twice, and on those occasions, he gave a one sentence apology(by email) but would not attempt to schedule a service date. After more than a month of this game I could no longer believe his sincerity and just gave up. If he was actually serious about honoring the contract (an Angie's List promo offer) he would have had the courtesy to take a minute to call or email me with a status update. When I finally informed him that I was cancelling the contract, he told me that anyway he couldn't do the chimney repair that I requested as part of the job -- despite the fact that he lists that type of repair on his website. It's hard to believe that a company that behaves like this actually remains in business.

We apologize again that this deal did not work for you. We had tried several times to schedule the work and never received a response. Perhaps the information provided was incorrect. After you contacted us we did try to schedule. The day we were to come out it rained very hard and I explained that for the safety of our service techs we could not perform roof work in the rain. I also explained that we do not repair chimneys and that the work you needed done should be done by a mason who has extensive experience with the tuck pointing needed. No where do we claim to be mason or chimney repair experts or service provider. Please let us know if we need to clear up any other questions regarding this work order. Again thank you for the opportunity, Sincerely, GR General Contracting

I had them do some other work the day they came out to do the coupon. It took them about two months to come out and do the work because they were very busy with the weather had gotten them behind. Provided a free onsite estimate. Came in on time and on budget. Cleaned up all of the work area prior to leaving. Very friendly and easy to work with. Even offered to change some other light bulbs and match a few of our old cans to the new ones without increasing the quoted amount of time to do the additional work. Honest, easy and fair. You can hardly ever put those 3 words together anymore. Well done!
Description of Work: Removed old light fixtures in kitchen and dining area. Added 10 can lights and wired them to three different switches to create zones complete with independent dimming.
We had a great experience with Gordon and his crew. Workers always showed up when expected and on time. Everyone we dealt with was very professional and mindful of the fact that we have three small children. Gordon kept me up to date with what was happening and explained any issues or challenges as they occurred. The job was completed within the budget that we had agreed upon. Gordon was straight forward and fair with his quote. The only incremental costs were due to changes that I had asked for. Gordon and his crew were flexible and accommodating with all our changes and questions. The quality of the work is excellent. We are pleased with our new finished basement.
Description of Work: Gordon finished our basement providing a living space, three piece bathroom, bedroom, office and storage space.
