They were OK. Clearly they did a good job. They solicited with a flyer in my mailbox.

They came when they said they would. They got the job done. I did not use them that much but they did a good job. They were not rude; I don't have any complaints. If I had a big job to do on my chimney, I would probably get a few more estimates, but I would definitely consider them.

Lindemann was very professional. They arrived on time, explained the process, and made no mess in the house. Unfortunately, the first liner they installed did not work as hoped. When we lit the first fire, smoke filled the room. We called them and they came right out. It turns out that the new liner changed the dimensions of the chimney. They figured out the problem and, to their credit, offered to install the fan to improve the draft - at no charge . It worked!

The experience went very well. It was a very courteous and polite gentleman that came to give the estimate. He was very knowledgeable.

They were nice and did an amazing job quickly. They were totally professional and not very expensive either.

The chimney was cracked due to lighting and needed to be replaced. They were able to keep the chimney lining which they had put in a few years before. The chimney side of the house is on a hill and three stories tall at that point so they set up scaffolding. My yard was left neat and clean - no brick pieces. Nice job!

They were very thorough. I never felt like they were trying to up the estimate or anything like that. They showed up on time and cleaned up after themselves. They worked in freezing rain, which I couldn't believe. I couldn't be more pleased with them. They did a great job. The price was a little high but it was worth it. I don?t think I could have gotten it done at that quality for a lesser price. These big men even brought out a little swiffer duster to clean my TV and everything.

I know nothing about a chimney so I got a second opinion. This mason, after the inspection, said that there was nothing wrong with the chimney and " might need repair when his young son was old enough to take over the business" I can't say whether Lindemann is good or bad; I can say, make sure you get a second opinion. 1/21/11 The company called and set up a new appointment. A 25 year veteran employee came out and scoped the chimney and showed me the missing mortar and a crack in the tile. I will still get 2 more inspections and quotes before doing anything. 2/21/11 I received more inspections and the new guys did not see the immediate dangers that Lindemann did. They saw small cracks, a clean chimney and a firebox that needed repair. I honestly don't know if Lindemann was the best and most thorough or the most alarming. We went with the other guys at 25% of the cost. I raised their overall grade to a "B" because I received a call from them about the lower mark I had awarded. Net, net I would suggest you at least get a bid from these guys: they are professional, on time and very much care about their reputation.

it started off great, went south for a few weeks, but then Lindeman Chimney (LC) remediated the issues and converted me back to a satisfied customer. i got an estimate and the paperwork the day that the contractor was at the house. he was able to run all of the calculations for all of the work, print it in his work truck and then talk it over with me on the spot. the estimate was very detailed. it was explained to me that i would need to hire an electrician and someone to install the gas line for the gas fireplace insert that i was purchasing from LC. i was surprised that LC didn't install everything under one contract, but what did i know. so i figured, ok, this must be easy and they must do it this way all the time. but when i got estimates for the plumber and electrician, no one wanted the job because they were unfamiliar with the gas fireplace insert. they basically didn't want the responsibility or some didn't want to have to charge me the time it would take to figure out how the insert worked and where it needed the electricity or the gas line. after several weeks of calling contractors for this insert, i finally called LC and explained my frustration with this process and with LC not including this in their work/contract because it basically forced me to play general contractor with these other two trades. LC was surprised that their project manager allowed this to happen and immediately worked with me to get a recommended electrician and a plumber that they worked with in the past. and on top of that they offered to pick up the tab for these two jobs. this showed me that this company's number one focus is customer service and is ultimately why i would recommend them moving forward. aside from the mishap explained above, the work that LC did was of high quality and all of the contractors were very professional and courteous. the jobsite was kept surprisingly clean. and the contractors worked with my schedule to do the necessary work. also, they gave me several options with different price ranges for the work that could be done on the firebox. for instance, repairing the wood burning firebox vs. installing a new gas insert.

During the Thanksgiving holiday, I finally convinced my mother to finally replace her outdated gas log fireplace with an energy efficient fireplace insert. I did a little searching on the internet and ran across Lindemann?s. They had a top rating in the BBB and on Angie?s list so I gave them a call. I arranged for them to meet with my mother and discuss the various options for a fireplace insert with her. I then asked that they call me to discuss prices and installation dates immediately after speaking with my mother. True to their word, Mark showed up on December 7th at the prescribed time and met with my mother and then called me. We discussed the various options and Mark quoted me a price which I thought was competitive. Lindemann?s would do everything except the electrical work but they did have a list of preferred contractors. Since I live over 1,000 miles from my mother?s house, I asked Mark if he wouldn?t mind contacting and arranging the installation with the electrician. Mark readily agreed and that was one less burden on me. Mark estimated that they could install the insert in about 10-14 calendar days and would call me back with a confirmed date. I really was hoping to get the insert installed before Christmas if possible. Later that same afternoon, I got a called from Lindemann?s and since they had everything in stock, they could install the insert on December 10th in the afternoon. They had also arranged for the electrician to be there either the afternoon of the 9th or the morning of the 10th. As it turns out, the electrician was able to complete his work on December 8th and he did a great job at a reasonable price. As promised, Lindemann?s showed up on the afternoon of the 10th, installed the insert, and took away the old gas logs and fireplace doors. They were very careful to keep everything very clean and neat and my mother thought they were great (this was very important!). The insert is working wonderfully and now my mother?s living room not only looks great but is also very warm. I really don?t know what more you can ask from Lindemann?s. They were prompt, courteous, had excellent communications, were VERY accommodating, treated my mother with great respect, and did a super job on the insert installation with no problems. Their final price was what the estimate was and I was happy about that. They do other work besides just fireplaces and chimney?s and I plan to contact them again for some additional work in the spring. As for the electrician, I also highly recommend him and Lindemann?s has his contact information.

This report is second-hand because my daughter-in-law was home when the chimney company arrived. I was at work. She said: He arrived at the scheduled time. He was very courteous and professional. He set about his work, making sure all surfaces in the area of the fireplace were covered and protected before he started. He checked everything thoroughly inside and also on the roof. He found some issues with the chimney cap and metal housing. After he was finished, he left everything in perfect condition. He accepted payment without me being there and sent me my invoice through email. He also suggested repairs to be made on the chimney cap and sent me an estimate for that work. I emailed him with concern for safety or fire issues because of the cap and he reassured me that it could wait until spring to be repaired. This company was referred to me by another company who were over-scheduled with appointments. I was reluctant at first but after talking with someone from Douglas Chimney Service, I felt a lot better. I am so happy I decided to choose them. It's so refreshing to have a service completed without being scammed or intimidated into purchasing other services. I WILL use them again and will highly recommend them to anyone who asks.

Extremely well done. Original issue concerned leaking vapors and water from chimney area through adjoining roof line and into bedroom walls. Original plaster walls in master bedroom were cracking and bursting out beyond wall line. Concern over massive plaster expansion and collapse due to moisture and water through chimney. Fastest job I have ever witnessed and all of the team (total of four major and two helpers) were professional. Cost of job reflects quality of materials and expertise of workers. Second best is not an option!

Very well. Despite a driving rain, they cleaned the chimney on the appointed day. They suspected a leak while they were cleaning, and we scheduled a return visit. When they returned, they determined that the chimney did not have a leak. They did not charge for the return visit. Office staff was very professional. All calls answered promptly. All requests to reschedule were promptly satisfied. All appointments were preceded by reminder calls. All visits were followed up with letters.

They were really, really great. Very professional, very nice. I called and asked if they could get us in ASAP because we've had a few quotes from different chimney services and wanted to make a decision immediately. They got us in for a 7:30am-8am today, Thursday 10/14 ( I called late Tuesday 10/12). The man who came out was easy to talk to, answered all my questions and I was comfortable that if we hired them they'd do a great job. We decided to not go with them because of price. Installation of new stainless steel liner $1,999, removal of old liner $399, Crown Coat $299. It was just a little more than we wanted to spend on the liner. Regarding the smoke issue, he suggested to see what happens when we use the fireplace again before installing valves or a fan when I explained my husband was pretty sure the reason it backed up was because the damper was partially if not totally closed. We've been here for five years and smoke came back into twice before, the last two times we used the fireplace. He said if it does persist we could try what I think he called a smoke screen for around $200. I really was very impressed with them and if we didn't have other work to do around the house - which we absolutely have to do this winter - we probably would have gone with them.

We were experiencing some dampness on our 2nd floor ceiling near a fireplace after heavy rainstorms. Douglas Chimney provided a very reasonable estimate, performed the work on time, and didn't try to up-sell. Overall, very impressed and highly recommended.

They didn't try to upsell us - just told us the least expensive way we could fix the problem and fixed it promptly. We were grateful and felt they were honest and professional.

They were thorough in evaluating what we needed. They had a busy season and kept us informed about when to expect work to start. Their subcontractor that tore down and rebuilt our chimney was very professional and knowledgeable and communicated with us well. They did the job very professionally and neatly and cleaned up after themselves. We are please with the final product.

Called for inspection, and to have dryer vent cleaned. Knew it had been a long time since either had been looked at. Dryer vent was desperate for cleaning, which was done, and the length of the vent was re-sealed with metal tape. Service person was polite, helpful with the points I didn't understand, and did an excellent cleanup when he finished. As for the chimney, my original call was for inspection. I knew very little had been done to the chimney for quite a few years, especially as the furnace no longer vents through the chimney. The service person checked things bottom to top to bottom, took pictures of my problems so I wouldn't have to get on the room myself, and explained what he planned to do to correct the issues. He did a formal written proposal on the spot, which I approved, and he called for additional materials and reinforcements to get the job done in one day. Four hours later, the project was finished, any mess was cleaned up beautifully, and I don't have to be afraid to light a fire. Perhaps the price was higher than it could have been (a $300 job became closer to a $4000.00 job), but I had absolutely no idea these problems existed or the dangers they presented. Given the fact that everything was handled very professionally THAT VERY DAY, Lindemann deserves a high rating for services they provided for me that day.

He was on time, polite, provided an accurate estimate, and was able to do the work that day. Replaced the cracked masonry on the concrete cap (source of leak) with a flexible crown sealant, cleaned from the fireplace up, performed an inspection, and touched up a small crack between some of the fireplace bricks. I would definitely use his company again.

This company was very professional beginning with the phone call to set up the appointment. They were very clear on the work that would be performed. Their office called the day before to remind us of our appt. Jim the technician arrived on time, was very professional and knowledgeable. He explained everything thoroughly, gave us a written report of his inspection and emailed us photos he took. He left our home as clean as he found it. Would definitely use them again.

I called an they gave me an estimate over the phone and told me they would be there withing the next two days, of which they were. Cleaned the gutters (which had stuff growing out of them) flushed the gutters and hauled everything away. Even cleaned the stairs where some of the debris had landed. Told me I did not need to be home as they would send a bill in a few days. It was most pleasant, no muss, no fuss. They told me they would call me twice a year to set an appt. if I would like. Of course I would like that, one less thing to think about.

Excellent job. Very polite and helpful on the phone. Arrived on time. Worked efficiently and pleasantly. Kept white carpet surrounding fireplace perfectly clean. Price was a little higher than some others.

The representative was very thorough. He did had already inspected the exterior of the Chimney before ringing our bell. He cleaned the chimney in good time, and took the time to protect our floors and furnishings before doing any cleaning.
