I needed a repair connecting the furnace pipe to the chimney through the attic with a steeply pitched roof. I also asked if the oven exhaust could be reattached to vent outside, as it currently was not. One technician arrived on a Saturday to assess the job, but didn't have the necessary parts to repair. He also pointed out that the dryer exhaust was not up to building code, but would check with his supervisor if the 2 exhaust issues were within their area of expertise. Another Saturday appointment was scheduled with a different technician who was just as knowledgeable, professional and friendly as the first. He repaired all three items and replaced flex hoses (fire hazards!) with rigid hoses for the oven and dryer exhausts, and cleaned the dryer vent which had not been cleaned in a l-o-n-g time. I promised to be more diligent about that in the future. I thought the charge for everything was very reasonable.

Could not make the first appointment so we rescheduled, which was not real problem. They were very professional. They discovered that we need to have some repairs made which will cost us $3135.00. Repairs include installling a clay flue lining using heat shield cerfractory mortar and installing a 13 x 13 energy top plus damper.

Went fine from beginning to end. Office stayed in touch with us, letting us know when crew was scheduled. Work was all done in a timely professional and friendly manner. Required several visits on their part to get chimney cap so that there was not audible resonance in our chimney; took care of this with no complaint or extra charge.

We have two fireplaces and needed both checked out prior to using since we just moved into our home in the summer. Also, I noticed that the damper in one of the fireplaces wasn't working properly. The technician fixed the damper by placing it back on a track (something I didn't even see). He went on to check each fireplace and chimney and saw that they were fine aside from a crack in each chimney cap that should be fixed but isn't critical. Here's the best part - he charged me nothing for the visit. It's safe to assume that I'll use Lindeman annually and, while I of course expect to be charged next time, I know I won't be getting screwed over cost.

He scheduled the appointment quickly, arrived on time, and cleaned the chimney with very little disruption. I appreciated that he did not try to sell us any other services.

We called Lindemann because we wanted a second estimate and opinion about work that we were told needed to be done. We were very impressed with the inspection that was given by the technician and his explanation of work that was needed. The work was scheduled to be completed soon after and was done in stages. We were very pleased with the craftsmen and with the clean-up. In addition to the fine work done by this company, it also offers free bundles of firewood, based on the amount of work done. What a nice surprise!

Exceptionally well - quick estimates - prompt work.

Being in our home for two years and never having used our fireplace, we decided to have it checked before using it this winter. I received a coupon in our ValPak and looked on Angie's List for ratings; Lindeman seemed like a safe choice although it was more expensive than the other choices. I was right. The service tech looked at the chimney and immediately determined that it did not need to be cleaned. This lowered the price from what my coupon had said. I was impressed by this because we admitted to knowing nothing about our fireplace, and they could have easily taken our money. The technician then inspected the furnace and found cracked tiles and deterioration of the mortar. He said that for safety purposes, we should not use our fireplace. I honestly feel had I called a regular chimney sweep, we could have been in danger because they wouldn't have provided this service. After completing the assessment, the technician told us a variety of options and explained the benefits and downfalls of all of them. He gave us catalogs and literature on our options and gave us estimates. Never, did he push. This made a great impression. We did not expect to hear our chimney needed $3000-$4000 worth of repairs, but it was comforting to not feel like we had to do it right now. The technician just wanted us to be informed, making us confidant in calling them back when we are ready for the repair.

After reading my F review, the company very promptly contacted me and offered to set things right even though over a year had passed since the original service. I accepted the offer and they sent two men over who happily cleaned my gutters, re-installed my gutter guards, and who carefully studied the damage to the garage gutter corners. They offered me an acceptable explanation regarding the cause of the gutter damage (a very large truck banging and dragging against it - it was the alley side of the garage) and pointed out the drag line along the gutter. I believe these men were sincere and simply not trying to defend the company. The men themselves were wonderful and clearly took such a humble job as cleaning gutters seriously. In the end, things were set straight and I am very happy that I joined Angie's List and had this opportunity to benefit.

After an initial dispute with the company over the recommended work we were able to come to an understanding about the items of disagreement. The owner of the company, Rob Lindemann, seems genuine and worked to address the issue. I therefore have improved my rating of Lindemann Chimney.

Called the company on 8/20/2012 to request a quote on a replacement chimney chasse top. I was told that they have someone working in the Gurnee area and if I would like, they can have someone stop by that afternoon. That afternoon a Lindemann employee (Danny) stopped by and inspected the chimney. I was almost certain that I would also need to have the wood replaced around the chimney top, but after inspection that was not needed. I had the work replacement done on 9/5/2012. From the first phone call to the end of the job, the service was the best. The company kept me informed of all dates and times and I felt that they really cared about the customer. I am looking to have the vents cleaned in my home and Lindemann Chimney will be my choice.

They do a great job and were easy to work with. They cleaned up after themselves, came when they were supposed to, and always kept me up to date. It was just a very nice experience!

Douglas Chimney Service was a little bit late. Price was in the norms of everybody else. He was very nice and professional.

The service man remove the large flue cap and brought it down for me to see. We pour water around the cap and found the leak.There was a hole due to rust. He was kind enough to put caulk around the hole to patch it. This was good temporary fix until I replace the cap. Surprising he did not charge me. Due to other pressing matters I did not order the cap from them. But I probably will in the future.

I have used them in the past. They were on time and did an effective job.

They cleaned our gutters and did a good job. They were here and gone and were pretty efficient.

Douglas Chimney Service did an excellent job cleaning my chimney. They we on time, professional, and Douglas has a warm and friendly disposition. While cleaning our chimney, he noticed a crack in my fire place that need to be fixed to prevent any possible cause of an accidental fire. Douglas Chimney service repaired the crack as needed. I would definately recommend Douglas Chimney Cleaning serivce to any home owner and will use them again for my next claeinign service. Exceptional service, exceptional service people. They're good about calling before they come so you don't have to call and schedule; they call you. They'll clean your gutters, and as the trees dropping their leaves they'll come back out and clean the gutters again at no charge. They're prices have maintained the same for at least the last couple years.

They came when they said they would and performed the repairs. They even pointed out additional work that they could not do, and referred us to another contractor who would be able to do that.

For the actual day of repair, they took exactly the time they said they would. They arrived on time, explained the service to be performed, and completed the work as expected.

We have used Lindemann for chimney cleaning for several years. Two years ago, during a cleaning, Lindemann did a video scan of the tile liner and informed us that we needed a new liner. The old liner was cracked, and creosote had built up in the cracks. There was the possibility of a creosote fire. Lindemann gave us a quote for the replacement. The cost was high, and we were skeptical about the need for the work. We were aware of frequent scams in the chimney-cleaning industry. We risked waiting two years for the next cleaning (no creosote fires) and used another company from Angie's list to do the cleaning with another video scan. The second scan (which I asked to watch as it was done) showed the same problems. The second company's inspection of the exterior of the chimney at the top showed additional problems -- rows of damaged bricks and damage to the concrete slab above the bricks.at the top. We decided to bite the financial bullet and to proceed with all the work. We got a new quote from Lindemann as well as a quote from the second company. The prices were similar, but Lindemann believed it could do the job without having to have a fan ($2,500+) at the top of the flue to draw smoke from our two-sided fireplace. The second company insisted on a fan. We went with Lindemann. Not only is the fireplace working wonderfully without a fan, but the mason who completed the work at the top of the chimney did a phenomenal job of matching the new brick colors with the old. We're very happy with the savings and with the work.

Chimney flue on a 100+ year old home needed a liner as it was built without one. Bricks were beginning to disintegrate and could pose a danger inside the house with carbon monoxide escaping from the boiler. Jim Janek inspected the boiler, chimney and any other connections and determined what was needed. He arrived promptly and was able to give me an estimate for the cost of a new liner and installation which was less money than I expected based on my prior research. I hired him immediately. Because it was a nice day for December and the snow from the previous day had melted and he needed to have access to the roof of my home, he was able to fit me in the same day to complete the job. He was able to get the materials needed from the office and was back within an hour and finished the job that day. He was very professional and everything was cleaned up before he left. I had used Lindemann in the past for other chimney work and was pleased with their services but I also consulted Angie's List prior to contacting them for this job and found that others had concurred with my experiences. That made it easier to hire them immediately without consulting other companies for other estimates.

It went well. I explained everything above.

The work ended up okay, but it was a difficult process with them. We had lightening damage and the flues in the chimney and the top needed to be replaced. When I got the final bill I saw duct tape over the top of the chimney and there was a chip out of the cap that they had replaced. It ended up getting resolved, but it did not go as smoothly as I had hoped. I am not sure if I would use them again in the future.
