Lindemann Chimney Service Inc

The serviceman broke a piece of the wood stove, a piece of the vermiculite. He admitted to never having seen a wood stove like mine. There are wood stoves all over the midwest. He promised to bring a new piece of vermiculite and get back in touch. We have called several times, been told we'd get a call back with information about the replacement that we are owed, and still no new vermiculite. If you want people who don't know what they are doing and will break your stove, and then not fix it, call Lindemann. Otherwise go elsewhere. Update: after posting this review we did get more responsive attention. They refunded our servicing fee, and they did find a replacement piece and install it at no charge. It turned out the piece of vermiculite that broke was not fitted correctly. I appreciated that they turned things around. They even offered to repair an area at the top of our chimney at no charge, which is unnecessary but appreciated. The person who did the work now knows our stove, so we will ask for him again next time. Update: they told me that they would repair the crown of our chimney at no cost. At the same time the repairman begged me to change the Angie's List review, which I did. Did I ever get a response back about this? No, of course not. I will never use Lindemann's again.

In an emergency situation with water leaking from chimney down basement walls, i first called the company that installed my furnace and they told me to call a chimney company. My daughter found Lindemann Chimney service rated highly on Angie's List and I called. I was so worried and could barely keep up with soaking the leaking up with rags day and night. Lindemann Chimney could tell I had an urgent problem and although they were very busy, they sent Erik out as soon as possible. He diagnosed my problem instantly - since I had a new furnace installed recently, I needed a chimney liner which would create a proper size flue to fix the issue. Seeing my desperate situation, he was able to install the chimney liner soon after. He not only did a superb job, but was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He answered all my questions and explained everything to me. Shortly thereafter, I received an e-mail follow up from Mike, the Field Supervisor, thanking me for my business and asking me to contact him if I had any further questions or needed more information. They were worth every penny and Lindemann Chimney will be my first phone call I make if I ever need any more help.

Lindemann had cleaned and done some fireplace/chimney repairs at our former home, and they did a great job. They did a great job at the new home as well. Beautiful new gas logs installed correctly!

THE GENTLEMAN FROM LINDEMANN WAS POLITE, PROFESSIONAL, COURTEOUS AND PUNCTUAL. IN FACT HE CALLED ABOUT A HALF HOUR EARLY, LET ME KNOW HE WAS RUNNING AHEAD OF SCHEDULE AND WOULD BE EARLY, WHICH WAS PERFECT FOR ME. AFTER THOROUGHLY CLEANING THE CHINMEY, HE INSPECTED IT WITH A REMOTE CAMERA FOR ANY POSSIBLE ISSUES. I WAS ABLE TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS SEEING ON THE SCREEN OF HIS IPAD. LUCKILY I HAD NO ISSUES WITH MY FIREPLACE...KNOCK ON WOOD. I'M SURE THERE'S OTHER CHINMEY CLEANING COMPANIES THAT CHARGE LESS FOR THEIR SERVICES, BUT I'M OKAY WITH PAYING SLIGHTLY MORE FOR THE DEFINITE PEACE OF MIND THAT COMES WITH THEIR EXPERIENCE, REPUTATION AND PROFESSIONALISM. NOT TO MENTION, I GET FREE FIREPLACE WOOD FOR ANOTHER YEAR FROM LINDEMANN. THE AMOUNT I WOULD PAY FOR FIREWOOD OVER THE COURSE OF A YEAR WOULD TOTAL MORE THAN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LINDEMANN'S COST AND THE LESS EXPENSIVE COMPANY. SO TECHNICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF A YEAR, MY FIREPLACE EXPENSE IS LESS BY CHOOSING LINDEMANN.

Mike Ruehradanz, Field Supervisor was prompt, knowledgable and professional. He gave an accurate estimate. His crew arrived on time the scheduled day and all work was performed in a timely manner. They left the site clean.

They came out and looked at the rusting chimney chase top and sent me an estimate for a replacement. The one I had was galvanized and probably 20 years old. They priced a stainless steel version. The office was very responsive to work with in scheduling and the worker did a nice job. Very please with the service from this company.

I contacted Lindemann to give me a proposal to replace my existing chimney. Very accomodating - a representative came to my house on a Saturday to accomodate my schedule. Very knowledgable - assessed the problem and discussed several options. Told me their chimney "guy" would come by during the week to view the chimney and they would email me a proposal with several options. No one came by and no propsal was ever emailed. I did, however, receive several customer satisfaction surveys by email, but no proposal. If they were not intereted in bidding the work an email would have been nice!

They were very professional and prompt. They called to let me know in advance when contractor to arrive followed up on the work. I felt they were professional in their explanations of the problem and very helpful in explaining the problems. I would highly recommend.

Prompt, efficient. Completed the job without any issues. Left things clean. Only criticism is that price seems very high for just a dryer vent - although ours is longer than normal (dryer is on second floor and travels about 15 feet to outside, it didn't take him very long so rice is probably around $250-$300 an hour.

Excellent. Correctly diagnosed problem that had been "repaired" several times, and at a lower cost than other quotes.

tEric arrived and proceeded to inspect and clean both our fireplace and chimney. He was meticulous while doing so and answered questions and explained everything along the way. He even took pictures and showed us an area outside that will eventually need to be repaired. When I was telling him about the metal flapping noise we were hearing outside, he identified and repaired the flue cap which had a screw missing. I also used a coupon I found online which brough the cost down significantly. I will definitely be calling Lindemann in the spring for another cleaning and the minor repair.

They were punctual, efficient, courteous, and the results look good. Haven't had it up and running yet.

The duct cleaning was done very well. They are very thorough and explain what they plan to do at each step. I felt very comfortable leaving them to perform their duties while I sat on the couch. I had one vent that was not cleaned and they came right back to complete the job. Compared to other companies that do vent cleaning, they are very detailed on everything they do. I appreciate the details. I also had my chimney/fireplace serviced since we just moved into a new place. Rob, the service tech, was the best! I was afaid of the dust and dirt that would be generated by the cleaning and servicing but this was not a problem. They bring fresh tarps and use a special hepa vacuum. I am a clean freak and Rob was very understandable. He also came back to repair my chimney. I would want Rob to come back and do the rest of my work. I would say that the chimney work is by far the best service at Lindemann. The duct cleaing was very good but the chimney service was outstanding! I plan to have my gutters cleaned once the leave come off my trees. Thanks for making my new move much less stressful!!!

We had used another company in the past but felt like we were getting "pop up" issues every time they cleaned another project had to be done. We changed companies and felt the professionalism and knowledge exceeded the company we hadreviously used. The inserted a camera into our fireplace and showed the interior to the chimney. We felt it was a much more through inspection.

Had Lindemann do an inspection of our fireplaces in an 80-year old brick home. Found main fireplace in livingroom to have extensive damage to existing tiles making the fireplace unsafe to use. Got several bids and selected Lindemann primarily because of their reputation and length of time in business. The Lindemann folks were very responsive and worked with our insurance company in obtaining coverage for the bulk of the cost. The onsite crew for the outside masonry work got their piece of the work done as scheduled and overall did a great job on the exterior even to the point of doing some additional tuck pointing below the roofline on some of the older masonry work. They did a great job in matching the brick and motar to the original. The inside crew that did the relining of the chimney were consumate professionals with a work ethic that was truely appreciated. They were the type of team one wishes they could have on every project and real credit to Lindemann. Most important to us was Lindemann's response to the damage done to our existing gas log set when the masons tore down the chimney. A significant amount of debris spilled onto the gas log set, hearth and a very expensive wool area rug in the living room. Even new motar got onto the log set. Lindemann's response was to accept responsibility without question and take immediate corrective action. In addition to a thorough clean-up they replaced our gas log set with a new set every bit as nice as the original. Lindemann is not the cheapest but likely there are none better when it comes to getting what you pay for. Most importantly, they are good to their word and stand behind what they do.

This is one of the most unprofessional companies I have ever dealt with. I contacted them around noon July 22nd. I spoke with a lady representative and advised her I was a member of Angie's List. I explained to her that I needed an estimate on chimney repair and installation of a liner. She seemed very pleasant. She took my information to include my name, address, and telephone number (both home and cell). I asked if there were any openings on the weekend in which someone could come over and give me an estimate on the requested work. She put me down for Saturday July 27 at 11:00 A.M. She told me there was an agent in my area this day who called her earlier and stated he had some time and was looking to pick up another job before his next one. The lady advised me she would call him and see if he could come over now since I was there and available to show him the chimney. I specifically asked her if the Saturday July 27 appointment could stay scheduled in case he did not show. She told me that she had me on the schedule and that if I did not hear back from this person this date, they would be at my residence on Saturday July 27 at 11:00 A.M. I was home the entire day and no one showed up. I at least expected a courtesy call that this person was not going to show. On Saturday July 22, I again awaited the arrival of the Lindemann agent to do the quote. Around 11:20 A.M. no one still showed up or called. I contacted Lindemann and spoke with another female. I advised her of my appointment and she again took all my information to include my address and telephone numbers. She stated she would contact one of the representatives immediately and they would contact me. Again, no one ever returned a call or showed up. I wasted another day waiting for the arrival of someone. As an Angie's List member, I feel this company needs to be spot lighted for it's unprofessional business practices. I may be the only one in Angie's List to have such a deplorable experience with this company however, there may be many other non members who have had similar experiences and who do not have the customer forum access to call this company out. On July 30 my wife received a telephone call from the president of Lindemann Chimney apologizing for the mix up and explaining what occurred. According to the president, a company picnic was being held on the scheduled day the agent was to arrive to conduct an estimate. I am pro business and believe any senior company representative who follows up the way he did to attempt to resolve the issue and give an honest explanation should be commended. For this action alone, I am changing the overall grade to a "B" for Lindemann Chimney. We have moved on and have contacted another competing company through Angie's List.

The experience was good only because the job didn't take very long. I got what I had expected from the work.

The service man was very thorough. We asked him to take a look at the dryer vent since he was there to inspect the chimney. The home was just purchased so it was a great opportunity to have things checked out. We learned that the dryer had been vented in to the attic (ugh). It was great to know that we couldn't use the dryer without potentially causing a fire.

Our house was being sold.House has 5 fireplaces.Buyers house inspection service found some issues with the dampers. We looked for chimney service companies on the internet and selected Lindemann.We are very glad we did. The Lindemann people came out within 2 days of our call and made their own inspection. They found no problem with 2 of the fireplaces,which was expected, they fixed minor problems on 2 more of the fireplaces on the spot. They made a second appointment to come back to install a chimney top damper on the 5th fireplace, which could not be repaired any other way. When they came for the second appointment,they installed the product and it works perfectly. They were on time for both appointments, they were very professional,work was done right, and the price was more than fair. We are pleased to recommend Lindemann Chimney to anyone. Great job guys.

The workman was polite and careful, kept everything pristine, and explained various aspects of what he was doing and what he recommended fully. A pleasure to deal with.

Our Liner was pretty bad shape and after a few quotes we were able to decide on using Douglas Chimney services. He came out on time and was very polite. Did not try to sell me anything I didn't need. He was very thorough and clean. He even recleaned the chimney after previous owners had just had it cleaned.
