Description of Work: Provider was at my home for about 5 minutes. He told me that I needed a new hard drive which they could provide for over $100. I paid for a trip fee of $35.00 and the labor rate of $95.00 for the first hour. I felt that, as a good business gesture, they could offer a reduced fee for the new hard drive based on the fact that he was at my home for such a short period of time. I am a business man and, while I signed a contract when the repair person arrived at my home (what was my choice at that point), it would have been a good business decision to offer a financial consideration, based on the only 5 minute visit. As a first time user of their service, I told them that I found their name on Angie's list, and was not offered the $15 discount that I was entitled to as an Angies's list member.

Description of Work: Laird improved my wireless reception, advised regarding purchase of new computer and Sonos home sound system. It's been 4 months and all is working wonderfully. Laird is highly knowledgeable and easy-going. David in the office is polite and customer-focused.

 + -1 moreVery nice and personable young man, he was prompt, he worked hard and he fixed the problem. They also were able to send someone within a day as I could not use my computer. They have a discount coupon in the yellow pages at the back for your first visit.
Description of Work: Removed a terrible Trojan Horse virus and gave me some general information about operation of my computer.

 + -1 moreI HAVE USED HOMETECH 3 TIMES AND HAVE ALWAYS HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. THEY NEVER TRY TO OVERSELL THEIR SERVICES OR RUN UP THE CLOCK. IN FACT, THERE WAS TIME LEFT IN MY ONE HOUR MINIMUM AND THE TECH ASKED IF THERE WAS ANYTHING ELSE THAT NEEDED SERVICE. PREVENTION SOFTWARE INSTALLED AND COMPUTER MAINTENANCE EXPLAINED. THE FIRST TIME I USED THE COMPANY WAS SPRING 2004 WHEN THEY RESCUED MY COMPUTER FROM THE BLASTER WORM. PAUL CAME TO MY HOUSE BOTH TIMES AND FIXED MY COMPUTER. HE IS PROMPT, COURTEOUS, RESPECTFUL AND NEVER TRIES TO PROLONG THE VISIT. AN EXCELLENT COMPANY TO USE WHEN YOU GET IN OVER YOUR HEAD TRYING TO FIX IT YOURSELF.
Description of Work: REMOVAL OF MALICIOUS FILES THAT HAD BEEN CAUSING MY COMPUTER TO RUN SUPER SLOW ($130). LATER UPGRADED MY DAUGHTER'S COMPUTER RAM WITH A 512K MEMORY CARD (ALSO $130). I HAD ALREADY PURCHASED THE MEMORY CARD. THE HOME TECH PRICE WAS FOR THE LABOR.

 + -1 moreI HAD A LIST OF SEVERAL UNRELATED TASKS AND PROBLEMS PREPARED FOR THE TECH, STEVE, WHEN HE ARRIVED (A FEW MINUTES EARLY). HE WORKED THE LIST, ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS, AND FINISHED IN THE TIME I HAD ESTIMATED IT WOULD TAKE. HE WAS ABLE TO CONNECT A NEW COMPUTER TO OUR HOME NETWORK WITHOUT MY HAVING TO BUY ADDITIONAL HARDWARE. HE WAS WELL PREPARED WITH A TOOL KIT INCLUDING HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE. A COUPLE OF FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS WERE HANDLED BY THE OFFICE STAFF. I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE. I DO WISH IT COST LESS, BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE NORMAL PRICES ARE. I WILL CALL HOMETECH AGAIN WHEN I NEED COMPUTER ASSISTANCE.
Description of Work: ADDED A 4TH COMPUTER TO HOME NETWORK, ELIMINATED SPYWARE FROM AN EXISTING COMPUTER, AND CORRECTED PROBLEMS ON TWO OTHER COMPUTERS. ALL ISSUES WERE RESOLVED.
