Response from Climate Control Services, LLC
Dear Members, Climate Control Services is committed to top customer service and satisfaction. Upon arrival to this house, the furnace was running properly and the temperature was 71 degrees. The customer stated that sometimes in the night the furnace would go out and then the unit would start up again. We cycled the unit 4 times to see if the unit would fail. It did not. We did inspect the furnace but made no repairs. The unit was running properly which was notated on his invoice and the home was 71 degrees when we left. We did offer some suggestions to the homeowner because upon inspection of this furnace, it was determined that this furnace was installed wrong by another company per the manufacturers installation guide. The equipment was a high efficiency 5 ton furnace that requires 2000cfm for cooling and 1620 cfm for heating. The furnace did not have the right size return opening. The installation guide states that on 5 ton units the return must come from side and under the furnace. The current furnace had a 10x20 drop with a 16x20 filter rack. The furnace requires a 20x25x1 filter for 2000 cfm. The furnace needed to be mounted on a support box and the drop side increased to 10x25. A high limit is a temperature control device that protects the furnace. When a return is undersized this lack of return air causes the temperature to increase in the furnace to above what the design temperature the furnace manufacturer recommends. I offered to provide this customer a copy of the installation guide. The furnace is fairly new 2010-2011 model. Simply replacing the limit is not fixing the problem. I will also be happy to provide the customer with the manufacturers technical support team so you can confirm with them the issues. I am sorry that another company did not install the furnace correctly and you feel that the level of service we provided did not meet your needs. I will send you a refund for the total amount we charged you which was $74 for a service call. I am all about doing the job right and we have a great record of service and satisfaction. If you need the manufacturer's installation guide or the technical support number, please feel free to call or email me at any time. Sincerely, Tom Wyse Climate Control Services
