So I would have rated them an 'A' if it weren't for the bad install that we did not find out about until years later as well as their lack of ability to stand behind their work. All of the molding above our garage door began rotting after 123 did our siding. Now the fun part is that we were not fully aware of how bad it was until 7 years, or so later, when I began to replace some of the trim. The vast majority didn't look that bad, but there was maybe a 2" piece of crown that was clearly rotted through and some paint that bubbled elsewhere. I thought it was just some caulk that had worn out on the flashing and I would just have to replace a couple of pieces of wood and re-caulk. When I got into it I noticed that the J-channel between the siding and the flashing over the garage door was installed with a rather large (1/4" - 1/2") gap between two of the pieces. I called the ever-friendly Dale to ask for some help. By help I mean I only politely and nicely asked that a new J-channel be installed correctly. Nothing else. No molding repair/replace, no money, nothing else. We're talking MAYBE an hours work for these experts. Well, long story short, you haven't met the real Dale until you ask for anything outside of the warranty period, which keeps getting shorter, btw. I only wish I had recorded the conversation - his Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde routine truly shocked me. He did, however, forward the pics I sent to his manager, Erika, and after a couple of weeks I was eventually able to get her on the phone. After very much reluctance, and refusal to admit any fault of their own, Erika agreed to send someone out. Well, no one ever came and she never returned any of my followup calls. Things I remember them saying to me - "Well, if you had noticed this sooner, we could have helped you." Seriously? So as a typical homeowner I need to inspect all the J-channels on the siding that you installed? What else do I need to inspect, the A through I-channels? The roof? I had no idea what a J-channel was, nor did I care, until I had to find this part on my own. You can imagine how it feels to spend thousands and thousands of dollars and to be left on your own. So I gave up on 123 and after getting more into the repair I found WAY more rot than I expected. Why? Because the J-channel had not only been leaking water between the gaps, but they put nails through the bottom of the J-channel, which also went through the flashing and into all of the wood molding and house wrap behind it! To give an analogy of how bad this is, picture putting large nails through your gutters that also go through your siding and into your house. Yes, that bad (and that incredibly dumb). The real issue now is, what else did they install incorrectly? I guess I'll find out when I see the outside, or inside, of my house start to rot. I'll then know that there is most likely WAY more of that rot inside somewhere... Please beware of 123 and don't fall for Dale's false charm and Erika's empty promises - they will both bite you in the end. Please see attached pics.
