Description of Work: We needed to replace locks on our home in the Hyde Park area. We have an old home with many exterior doors and multiple locks per door. We wanted high security locks and reinforced deadbolts. | |We contacted Security Shop. They have a main store on N Clark St and a smaller store here in Hyde Park on 55th St. The two stores are well coordinated, and they worked together to order materials and complete work for us. | |They provided a reasonable quote and recommendations on key systems and locks that meshed with the research I had done in advance. They were quick to prepare quotes and complete the work. They were friendly, always on schedule, and cleaned up after themselves. Wonderful service, and I am very pleased that they have a local storefront in Hyde Park, which makes getting additional high security keys quite straightforward.

Description of Work: I bought a condo and wanted all the locks changed and put on one key. I also wanted the back door lock to operate more smoothly. The locksmith came, looked, and outlined my options. I ordered, and when the locksets came in, he came and installed them. I went with a high security lock system.

Description of Work: OUR MAILBOX HAD BEEN VANDALIZED SO THE LETTER SLOT WAS UNCOVERED. THE SECURITY SHOP SENT OUT "ARTHUR" WHO ASSESSED THE SITUATION AND RECOMMENDED THAT WE JUST REPAIR IT VS. REPLACING THE ENTIRE MAILBOX. HE TOOK CARE OF MEASURING THE OPENING, ORDERING THE PART AND INSTALLING IT--THE WHOLE PROCESS TOOK 3 BUSINESS DAYS--BECAUSE THE PART HAD TO COME FROM THE MANUFACTURER.

Description of Work: I TALKED TO A DISPATCHER AND DESCRIBED MY PROBLEM. HE SUGGESTED I GO TO A HARDWARE STORE AND SPRAY THE LOCK WITH A COMPOUND BEFORE I PAID THEM TO COME TO MY HOUSE AND FIX THE LOCK. IT WAS A $6 SOLUTION AND WORKED PERFECTLY. I WAS VERY GRATEFUL FOR THE SUGGESTION WHICH SAVED ME TIME AND MONEY.

IN A MATTER OF SECONDS HE ANALYZED THE NATURE OF THE PROBLEM. HE RECOMMENDED TWO SOLUTIONS TO FIX THE GATE - AND DID NOT TRY TO UPSELL ON SOMETHING OUR ASSOCIATION DIDN''T NEED. HE WAS VERY COOPERATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL, AND THE GATE IS WORKING BETTER THAN IT EVER DID. WE ARE USING THEM AGAIN FOR CREATING OUR LANDSCAPING KEY.

 + -1 moreWHERE THERE WERE NEW LOCKS OF DIFFERENT PRICES THEY WERE KIND ENOUGH TO POINT OUT THAT THE LESS EXPENSIVE WAS GOOD ENOUGH. A VARIETY OF KEYS THAT HAD BEEN DUPLICATED OVER TIME WERE TESTED TO MAKE SURE THEY ALL WORKED. THE EXISTING LOCKS RESPONDED TO THE KEYS MORE CLEANLY THAN EVER BEFORE!
