I dropped my work keys down the sewer drain. Mondays, am i right? Luckily, i had my boss, who had an extra set, nearby. I arrived at the Security Shop at 0830, right when they opened. They quickly made new keys and got me back to work. What a relief that all the keys worked and i got a small ring on each key to make life easier. Thanks folks!

I called to set up an appointment and they were there within four hours. I was fine waiting a week! They needed another part for the fix and someone from their shop drove it over within 30 minutes. They were very knowledgable and taught me many things I needed to know about my new lock, door and drafty entrance way. I didn't think they charged enough for two men's time and driving over the needed part.

Albert was very punctual to arrive for the quote and to arrive for the service. He was very professional and worked non-stop. The quote took more time than promised. He said it would take 1-2 business days. Our condo manager had to call and received it on the 3rd business day. Hence the lower rating for responsiveness. Work was able to start as promised, one week after we approved the quote.

The service call is $60 which sometimes strikes me as a tad high but Security Shop is our go-to locksmith and they have always delivered a quality job. Always. Staff is professional and knows thier business.

I am afraid that this review cannot be of much help as the employee who performed the service is no longer with the firm. That employee has now gone into this business on his own. His work was excellent and I will continue using him for this specialty. I have not had any other contact with this firm.

I needed to update/rekey all of the common area locks for my condo association. Some individuals in our building had used Security Shop and liked them, so I called myself. Setting up the appointment was very easy. I needed to distribute keys in advance to all of the residents, so they made them for me on short notice. The technician, Carl, arrived promptly as scheduled and was courteous, professional, and efficient. He also offered advice that saved the Association money, by recommending that wait to replace one lock mechanism (I'm not sure of the correct word) until after having the door frame replaced. Overall, it was an excellent experience, the appointment and payment arrangements were very simple, and I'm very happy with the result.

I can't say enough good things about Security Shop, their dispatcher Jack, and their installer Boris. They are friendly, courteous, helpful, prompt, honest, hard-working, precise, accurate and dedicated to quality work. I have dealt with many terrible locksmiths (unfortunately), but Security Shop is outstanding, and they will be my locksmith going forward.

they were really nice to look up my past record to see which hardware i had & offered to have me come into the shop and show me how to fix it myself without incurring a cost.

The locksmith who arrived was clearly an expert and had my complete confidence. He had to order parts because we wanted a particular finish on the doorplate, and when the parts arrived a few days later he finished the job. Great stuff.

We've always had two different keys for our front door & back gate/storage area locks. We wanted to make sure that we could change over to ONE key. Jack talked me through the process by phone, but I still was not 100% sure we could do that, so Albert came over no charge (since we are very close.) He assured me that we could easily do what we needed. I ordered the keys, picked them up,distributed them to everyone in ADVANCE (which was HUGE) and the locks were then rekeyed to fit the new key a few days later. Albert also worked on our back gate (no charge) so that it closes a little better & a little softer. He was very thorough & easy to work with. We could not be more pleased. (the only reason I rated them as "good" for price is that we had to pay a trip charge even though they are about 200 feet away.)

They have replaced several locks, rekeying, etc. I have also used them for security issues. ***Price reflects two separate jobs.

Overall I thought they were very good. The e-mail was not being manned so no one returned my inquiry. There was no notice of a call service. On Angie's List it was stated that there was free estimates but no notice of charges for call services. The tech seemed very knowledgeable and they got the estimate to me quickly.

Security Shop sent a technician to replace ours and our neighbors locks to high security. He said that they would have to order the locks because the company does not have that type of lock in stock. It was the week before Thanksgiving and he assured us that we would have the locks done by the middle of December. When I hadn't heard back from them until January I called and William the manager said that they had no record of coming out to our building, so no part was ordered. Never once did he apologize for the lack of responsiveness. Even when I gave him the name of the technician, Karl and the date of the visit he said that they will not be able to track it because they work on many units a day. I guess they are not computerized and obviously don't keep very good paper records. I would worry about the security of the information they have to keep for the high security locks! Very unprofessional operation.

To continue from above, the locksmith claimed I hadn't given the proper info to the phone contact although I had read everything off the key. He said he couldn't replace the tumblers (what I had asked for based on building engineer's recommendation) but could replace the cylinder. I asked if that would change the appearance of the lock (the lock and handle are kind of a matched set) and was told that it would be different but shown no examples. My initial request based on my limited knowledge of locks was to have the interior changed leaving the outside appearance alone. After the locksmith left me with my original lock in place, I phoned the shop and got the manager, William, who gave no better explanation of my options, and added some contradictory information to the locksmith's statement about what needed to be done. One said it could be done on the spot, the other stated an order was necessary. Bottom line is that no one I dealt with at the company showed an interest in customer service with the exception of my initial phone contact. Even the manager made no attempt to give me service or even an explanation that answered my questions and did not try to keep my business when I said I'd call someone else. Very poor communication skills and the attitude was to blame the customer for not understanding.

It was a little more expensive than I had anticipated. But it was done very quickly, and they were able to schedule me in the next day which was great.

I called and I received a time that I was available within two days. I was told what the cost might be and told the Locksmiths name...Artie.....he was awesome! I was told he would be here around 9 am, he showed up at 8:45!!! He was in and out in half an hour. Made no mess, quick, efficient, and very polite. He fixed the lock and did a great job! I will be calling them again for any help we might need in the future. I am also going to make recommendations to our condo association to use this company if anyone needs individual repairs. If I had used the management company that we use to manage the building, we would have had easily spent more and the guy would have STILL been here. I HIGHLY recommend Security Shop. Great service start to finish......painless and professional!

We're satisfied with the work, but not with the process. We were told when we scheduled the appointment that there would be an additional $10.00 charge for coming on Saturday morning. That was fine. I was also told that the charge would be $85.00 for the travel, plus $80.00 for changing the cylinders on the four locks and another $10.00 or so for 6 keys. In the end it turned out that two of the locks had to be replaced, so that was more expensive. That, too, was fine. But then it turned out that after 12:30 on Saturdays they move into overtime pay. I was not told that on the telephone or I would not have agreed to a Saturday morning time. (Our locksmith only came at 11:00). When I called to complain I was told that the work was much more complicated than I had said on the phone. All I had said on the phone was that we needed the four locks fixed and rekeyed. I had no idea how long it would take. I didn't mind at all paying for the extra labor or parts. I objected to not having been told about Saturday overtime (and the tone taken by the manager and the owner).

The lock was inoperable from the outside, so he replaced the deadbolt with a better one and keyed it to match the rest of the locks. I was given a two hour window that they would arrive and he came right in the middle of the time frame. He was a very good sport about my dog yapping at him from the other room, and when he was done even asked for a broom & dustpan so he could clean up afterwards.

I spoke with Karl & he set up an appointment within a couple of days. Karl installed the peep hole but informed me that the no-pry bars did not fit properly & would cause damage to our doors over time. I thought it was great that he was upfront. Next, he looked at the door in our master bedroom. He said that he could re-key the pad lock but could not re-key the door handle without the original key. Since I did not have the original key, Karl asked to order new hardware & finish the job later. I paid him for the work he finished that day which included a $60 service charge. Exactly a month later, Karl came back out to install the new door handle. I was charged another $60 for the service call (in addition to a $40 re-key charge). Overall, I enjoyed working with Karl. He did a nice job and kept me informed. If they have to come back out to finish a job, schedule it within 2 weeks or you will be charged for another service call. The manager, William, has a strict policy on return visits.

Superb. Max offered me a number of open times that were available within five days of my call. The situation was not an emergency and an extra charge for this would have been unnecessary. Boris, the technician, called approximately 20 minutes before his scheduled arrival to let me know, on one of the coldest days of the winter, that he would be a couple of minutes late. He removed the lock and showed me where the broken piece was. He then went back to his truck and returned with a replacement lock and fixed the entire thing in about 30 minutes. He obviously enjoyed his work and apologized because there was a tiny scratch on the lock--in a dark hallway, no less. The lock works with ease and, best of all, we can use the same keys.

It was easy to schedule an appointment. The guy showed up on time, quickly installed the new locks and cleaned up after himself.

Returned my initial message promptly. Arrived on time and finished in short order. We expected an expensive replacement; we had another locksmith take a look and get nowhere, despite charging us $200. But the job was done quickly, at reasonable cost. Explained a few maintenance tips to avoid the problem in the future and cleaned up. Friendly and pleasant.
