Quick Key Locksmith

Scheduling was quick (same-day), and work done was excellent. Victor was personable, punctual, and professional, and knew what he was doing. Would definitely hire again!

We live in a condo and had an issue with a common area door. We called Quick Key on a Sunday and Victor arrived within the time promised (20-40minutes). Victor was beyond professional and even offered to hold the door for me as I was wrangling our two small children. He worked quickly and efficiently to fix the issue with the door. Victor replaced the knob and reed the lock so all the tenants of the building would continue to have access. Should we need any thing lock wise in the future we will absolutely use Quick Key again no question...if there was an A+ rating, they deserve it!

They did a great job. This is actually my second time using Quick Key Locksmith and the service/response time/etc. has been great both times. I was going to reach out to other companies for a quote but after I let them know that the price sounded high, they let me know there is an angle's list special and also took off a little more as well. I didn't bother to price compare since they did this on the spot without me asking for it.

The locksmith was very professional, friendly, prompt, efficient and effective. He quickly rekeyed the locks where I did have existing keys and replaced the one lock where I did not, keying them all so that they used a single key. For the one door where he had to replace the lock, he found and suggested hardware that actually matched the home decor better than the the pre-existing lock that the prior owners had and replaced/adjusted the strike plate so that the door latched more easily. He also, on his own initiative, tightened up a loose door handle on another door. Great work overall. The cost I indicated below includes the new hardware.

Initially it went fine. The guys were polite and did the job in a reasonably quick fashion. It was a little pricey as I ended up replacing some knobs at 89 dollars per pop but I was feeling glad to have gotten it over with. Then, went I tried to open my basement door for the first time the knob came off in my hand. I called them, they were nice, and said they would replace the doorknob for free since they didn't get it right the first time. (They will later dispute this but we'll get to that) So, they mixed up their dates but I'm flexible and I was home so fine (even though its Saturday 4th of July weekend). They come over, say they need to replace the whole thing. Ok. Fine. Then, the bill. They will graciously waive the re key fee but I have to pay for both the hardware and the service call. That's right, my doorknob, that they should have fixed or replaced at the time they were here and came off in my hand the FIRST time I opened it, they want to charge me for the new hardware PLUS come out to fix it. To make a long story short, it took 30 minutes off phone calls to get them to drop the service charge and I still paid for the hardware AT COST. Not even a discount for the hardware even though they, at the very list, were confusing on the phone about what I would have to pay for and had offered to take 10 dollars off my bill at some point. So bottom line, if you want a locksmith that when they leave your place and you will be unsure of if your doorknob will come off in your hand and THEN they think they have the right to charge you to come out to fix it, then these guys are the ones for you. The hardware is irrelevant but I can't believe these guys let 90 bucks of a 400 bill lose them multiple future customers. Not worth the trouble with these guys and go somewhere else.

Josh re-keyed 7 of our locks and installed a new lock where needed. I have used Quick Key in the past and will do so again. They are reasonable and provide fast and quality service.

They were very very good. Actually they saved us a lot of money. It cost about $3. Other companies were going to come out and charge us. I talked to those guys and they said to come on down and we have those in stock. You don't need to have anybody come out. They are very quick and good. The lock works. They had the key waiting for me when I got there. I would uses them in the future.

We did not get what we had originally asked for. We wanted keys that could not be reproduced without a special card. Once the rekeying was done, we asked for the card and they said that was not the kind of system they installed. This was the main reason we were going through this process so we ended up with just a slightly better situation than we had originally for a rather steep price. They were professional and timely.

He did good. It was the lowest bid. Their price was competitive.

It took about an hour but it worked. It's expensive, but there is no other choice...

The service was fine. David called and arrived in the time window. Vanessa called earlier in the day to confirm. David got the door unlocked in less than 5 minutes. He was very courteous. HOWEVER, I AM UPSET THAT I PURCHASED AN ANGIE'S LIST COUPON FOR 429 THAT WAS ENTITLED, "LOCKSMITH SERVICE CALL." AFTER DAVID SHOWED UP AND COMPLETED THE WORK, HE TOLD ME THAT THE $29 WAS ONLY TO GET HIM TO THE DOOR. ANY SERVICE WAS EXTRA. THE LOCK OPENING, WHICH TOOK 5 MINUTES WAS $65 MORE. I could have had a local locksmith in Skokie come and do everything for $50, instead of the $94 I was charged by Quick Key. That locksmith told me that the arrival fee was $15 and the lock opening was $35. I thought I was saving over that with the $29 Quick-Key SERVICE CALL. I called Angie's List customer service, but they would not acknowledge that the title of the coupon, " Locksmith Service Call" was misleading.

The technician was awesome! I wish I could remember his name but he wears glasses and has curly hair. :-) He was punctual and got right down to business. When my husbands old school car was blocking the side door, he encouraged me and spotted me as I pulled the gigantic 74 Chevy out of the garage! I highly recommend the services of Quick Key - Wheaton!

Technician was on time, professional, and quick. Made the process painless. Left us with two sets of new keys and some piece of mind.

Locksmith was great. Explained the process and performed quality work under challenging circumstances (tough, old locks). However, final billing was not transparent. I expected the coupon to cover both locks, but the locks were repaired and not replaced -- which somehow cost more. I was told to get money back from Angie's list instead of them refunding me for the overcharge. The difference in cost was small ($15), but overall it was a negative experience with the management. Again, the actual locksmith was great.

It was excellent. We had a difficult lock but he did a great job opening the door. I have also used them for an intercom buzzer repair and they did a great job as well.

Showed up quickly on short notice. Explain what was wrong and offered options to correct it. Overall a great job.

My overall grade was a B+. David, Quick Key's technician, was very good. He arrived on time, worked quickly and was very personable. He explained what he was doing and worked efficiently and professionally. After he left, we had a minor problem with one of the keys. He returned right away, rectified the situation, and apologized for the inconvenience. Not only was the overall service pretty good, but the company stood behind the work. I will use them again.

This is an updated review of Quick Lock: We had some issues with scheduling the service appointment due to Quick Lock being under staffed on the day of our service. The lock replacement was completed on the day of the appointment (just later than expected), and we were happy with the quality of the installation. We received a call from Quick Lock wanting to review the scheduling issues they had during our appointment. I was impressed that the company reached out to us to and appreciate their level of customer service following the appointment.

The Technician installed one new lock on inside door, and replaced one from the outside door. (I provided the locks.) After Serviceman left I tried to close the inside door. The lock did not close properly. I called and another serviceman came right away and fixed the problem. Both man were very punctual. Total cost $85 + $19 = $104. I will use this service in future. (I do not remember the date of service.)
