The plumber arrived at my door at 11:AM, performed the job in a competent way and finished everything by 12:10PM. He charged me for 1.5 hours of labor instead of one hour and presented me with a bill over $200. When I challenged this he told me that he was charging for the 20 minutes time he had spent looking for parking. He consulted with his manager on the telephone and was told to use the "constructor rate" which reportedly was lower than the discounted Angie's List rate. I still was not satisfied with being charged for time not spent doing the job and time that I could not account for. I advised the plumber that had he stopped by the house or called me from his cell phone when he had started looking for parking, I could have directed him to areas where parking is readily found or would have allowed him to use my garage. At any rate, I would have had documentation of his time of arrival in the neighborhood. I resent being charged for time I cannot account for. The amount of time spent in my house doing the job was under one hour. Based on this, the total bill using the Angie's List discount should have been $160.50 ($130.50 for the first hour I was quoted on the phone and $30.00 for parts they provided). I paid $180.

We woke up to a cold shower and our hot water heater spewing water all over our laundry room. We called Rae and they were able to get someone out right away. They told us we would have to replace the heater. We had a lot of questions and considered a few other options. Rae answered all our questions with patience and professionalism. They even put us in touch with a vendor of theirs to help us make a decision on what kind of heater to purchase. Once we made a decision, her team handled the replacement with courtesy and great service. Her crew was great! I could not recommend them more highly. We would definitely have them come back to do more work if it became necessary.

The first time they came that day, it was really quick. The plumber was on time, went into the bathroom, spent about 2 minutes there, then quickly wrote the invoice ($150) and left. We wondered if the problem was so simple we could've done it ourselves...that is, until we quickly realized that the leak was still happening. Frustrated, we called the company and to their credit they sent him back within the next few hours and this time, he spent more time in the bathroom and fixed it for good. In that way, it was frustrating.

I am very happy with this company and will use them again. Getting an estimate for my job (which I guess isn't always needed) took longer than I thought, but this was not an emergency so I didn't mind waiting. I'm glad I did and that I didn't go somewhere else. Once I accepted the bid, everything went according to schedule. Everyone there is very polite and friendly -- Rae is super helpful, Dave is knowledgeable and accommodating, and Mike who actually did the work did a great job. I had one thing I wanted tweaked a bit after the fact and they were very responsive. I do highly recommend this company.

I needed my sewer drain routed out on a Sunday morning. I completely understand weekend time and the associated up charge, but their estimate was $900! which was double time. I ended up using another reputable company whose weekend up charge was $30.00. I think if you are in a business with emergency associated jobs your pricing on off-hours can give you a competitive advantage for all of your jobs. Unfortunately, this experience has made me question all of Power's pricing.

I called the other company, whose equipment I had in my basement, but it did not work and my basement flooded. I contacted Power Plumbing and they where willing to come immediately if it was necessary. I scheduled them for the following day and they were prompt, polite, and very knowledgeable. They had to pump 20 inches of water from my basement. Then they told me what I needed and offered options depending on my budget. They installed a new more powerful pump and to date, I have not had problems. They assessed I had the wrong pump to begin with installed by the other company, whose expertise I trusted.
Description of Work: My basement was flooded after it rained. Previously I had a pump and backup pump installed by another company, a company also on Angie's List. After Power Plumbing pumped out the water, they installed a new pump for me. Apparently, the pump that the other company installed was inadequate (too small for an industrial building). I did not know what. I relied on their expertise. Power Plumbing was very prompt in returning calls; the other company was good about returning calls in the beginning, later they do not return a call, that s how I wound up changing to Power Plumbing. I wish I would have known about them before. They would have saved me $1000's from having to install new industrial heating/HVAC system.

Excellent service. Had to shut off gas line to disconnect an old gas line running outside to a lamp post. Showed me the pipe and how rotted out it was. Thought perhaps there was a leak. I don't doubt it. Our gas bill had been high. Re-lit the furnace and hot water heater when done, even tested the stove. I really appreciated the extra effort. The powder room leak is from a pipe in the wall and there is no easy access. Offered to shut off the water in the sink to avoid the leaking until we decide how we want to handle this. Also, had a worn out part in one of the fixtures, offered to go to the faucet shoppe or told me where to get replacement part if I couldn't wait for him to drive there and back. Since the store is a distance from my house, I will get the part on my own.

Smooth. We called them out and they arrived the very same day. They rotten the drain line out and flushed it with water to test it. It was a bit messy, but what can you expect when cleaning out a sewer line. All in all, everything went well and priced fine.

Power Plumbing gave a prompt and competitive estimate, along with a precise description of the problem and solution. They got the City inspector to come and see if part of the problem was a city problem (it was). Rae Lynn was very helpful on the phone, and every person they sent to the house was professional and kind. They tried to send people I'd worked with before at every stage of the process (and again later when I had a different problem). Overall, they made what was an annoying problem caused by a previous owner into as painless a process as possible.

Overall it went well. The first step was finding out where the leak was coming from. The water was leaking into our garage and my suspicion was that it was traveling in between the walls from the roof. They tested that theory by running water into the drain for at least 30 mins. Finally it started raining in the garage and we knew the source. Then they prepped the drain that day for repair and scheduled to come back the next day. They returned and cleaned/repaired the storm drain the next day and we have not had an issue since.
Description of Work: Troubleshooted a leak and discovered it coming from a storm drain located on our roof. Fixed the storm drain accordingly and stopped the leaking.

It went very well, except for the communication aspect of it. I live out of town, and I'm renting the condo to someone else. I was expecting a phone call, and get an explanation of what was done, etc. I had to call to get a report. The plumber, nor the company called me. This part of it was a bit unprofessional in my opinion. But, I would still use them in the future and recommend them, as they did a good job.

Power Plumbing and Joe took care of all permitting and coordination's with the city, and performed the work in about three days. They honored an estimate in April that was given the prior November and started within 2 weeks of receiving the go ahead. I spoke with several potential plumbing contractors, and none were as knowledgeable and competent as Power Plumbing. Additionally, they were one of the most competitive from a price perspective.

Dave came in the day after I called Power Plumbing (this was not an emergency situation), and confirmed that the stinkiness of our bathroom was due to the old toilet down there, which had a crack in it and was not well sealed. We scheduled Dave to come back a few days later and he removed the old toilet, installed the new one, and we haven't had a problem since. The smell is gone, too!

Ok, but it took 2 hours. When I got the bill they wanted to charge me $361.00 for 2 3/4 hours. I don't think it should have taken more then an hour, live and learn. If I would have waited 2 days an appliance company would have installed for $130, so I know they were way over priced!!

My kitchen sink was leaking: a small & slow leak. First Scott the plumber diagnosed the OBVIOUS problem, but then he was thorough and found a second leak. He gave me the option of replacing my faucet fixture with a fixture he had on the truck or I could go look at them. Scott brought the faucet for me to look at, I approved & he replaced. The plumber even tolerated my very nosy cat who wanted to "help". Overall, I was very pleased. I thought that their pricing might be a tad higher than others, but the woman who answered the phone was eminently clear about their pricing structure, so I knew what I was getting into. I called to make an appointment around 9 AM and my leak was fixed and the plumber was gone by 11:15 -- no wasted time for me and I appreciate that. (I understand that is probably not how it goes every day, but I will definitely use them again as they were incredibly professional, prompt etc.)

My basement flooded on the record rainfall weekend, but I wasn't sure why. Mike and Gus, licensed plumbers, arrived on time and looking professional. They introduced themselves and then got to work-never wasted a moment. They did a complete inspection of the entire system before making a diagnosis and recommending repairs. They made all repairs and told me what I'd need to do in the future to avoid problems. They were terrific and really knew their stuff!

Toilet would overflow from the floor and water started coming up from tub drain. Called Power plumbing because they had great reviews on Angie's List. For a problem like this, I knew I wanted it fixed asap and done right so I didn't shop for best price but just best quality performance. Power Plumbing came out within a couple days (I didn't want to incur same-day emergency fees) and ran water and flushed the toilet to confirm my report. They checked the other sinks in the house and the catch basin. They determined that the main pipe needed to be rodded out. Thankfully, they decided to do it from the roof and not in my bathroom. Otherwise, when that rod came up there would have been quite a nasty mess all over the bathroom. So they rodded up on the roof and it got stuck. They switched to a bigger rodding machine and with a 3" blade on the end of the rod and were able to push through were the pipe was blocked. They pulled up baby wipes and floss. The pipe was finally clear and the toilet now flushes without backing up. They recommended putting a camera down the line to see where the pipe may be broken and implied that I'd probably need to have my front lawn torn up and new pipes installed which would cost around $2k. I also learned that besides human waste and toilet, NOTHING else should be flushed down the toilet even if it says flushable. That lesson cost me $517.50. I thought the cost would have been less but because it took the guys so long I ended up paying for it. Instead of an hour job it was over 2 hours. Ultimately, my bathroom is ok and I'm happy so it was worth it but very pricey.

Not only was he professional and courteous, but he also saved me money. The spigots outside of my house were leaking. On the one in the front of the house, the pipes were the problem. He removed them and the tap, and replaced the entire thing. On the other, the tap was the issue. Instead of replacing it, he cleaned out the tap from the front and used that one on the back. In addition, he thoroughly cleaned up my bathroom after the toilet was installed. As soon as I have a leak anywhere in my house, I'm calling them!

It went extremely well. The plumber that they sent out - James Dean (can't forget that name) - was nice, friendly, and extremely helpful. The only thing that I would ever have an issue with is that Power Plumbing is a little more expensive than other plumbers. However, their work and their professionalism is well worth that extra $10 an hour.

Very well. All of the charges were explained up front by the scheduler. They managed my expectations appropriately - to expect a service call the next day. The plumber was extremely professional and explained exactly what needed to and had been done. I asked him several questions about sewer backups (due to recent Chicago neighborhood flooding). He gave me several helpful suggestions. Great service, great company. Provided a handy packet of plumbing information that he left behind with me.

Excellent service. The company had my interests in mind and told me what to do so that they would not have to come out to my home in the middle of the weekend (and therefore charge a "weekend" rate). After ensuring that additional damage could not occur (via phone) the representative set up an appointment for the following business day. The Rep (on the day of the appointment) showed up on time, was friendly and also corrected some minor issues that were not associated with the work that I had called him for. He ensured that the sump pump was also functioning properly. The company's actions have solidified their reputation in my book.
