They ended up never finished anything. Their diagnosis was incorrect and I had some carpentry work done. That did not fix the problem. They charged consultation fee from me. They told me that it is not a plumbing problem.

Scheduling an appointment was very easy, the phone staff was very friendly and they were able to come out the next day. The plumber that arrived was friendly, and very knowledgeable but unfortunately smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The home (a two flat) had other plumbing issues including a new leak around the bathtub and slow water pressure to the second floor. After assessing all issues and discussing what could be done to fix the problems along with approximate cost both drains were unclogged with pressure device. Drains working great after but unfortunately I got charged for the time spent giving estimates for work not performed. Unclogging the drains took aprox 30-40mins but I got charged for 1.5 hours of work. Their website states that free estimates are given so this is why I was surprised by my bill.

They were courteous. They sent out two men for this work and charged me $315.00. This was very expensive for what they did and they should not have sent out two men. I contacted them regarding this and they got back to me. They agreed the price was wrong and cut it in half. I would hire them again.

While I only had Power Plumbing come for an estimate, it was a very good experience. I had someone come out to give an estimate on a tub drain that was leaking into my basement. The very polite and courteous gentleman pointed out that, in fact, what was leaking was the overflow and the water was, in turn hitting the drain pipe making it look like it was leaking. He was very nice in pointing out my erroneous diagnosis, and he told me what to do to stop the leak (plumber putty + tightening the overflow screws). He also took the time to let me know how to get a bit more water pressure into my shower. A very good experience and I didn't even have any work done. Just good advice and a quick basic plumbing lesson -- for free!

It was a good experience when all is said and done. The first time they came out, the sink continued to leak afterwards so they had to come back out to repair. They initially tried to charge me for repairing it twice (once when it was not fixed and once to fix if for good). I raised the issue and they were very understanding and accomodating to do the right thing when they heard the sink continued to leak after the first time. Given how they handled the problem, I would definitely use them again as I found them to be very professional and constructive.

The plumber accurate diagnosed the problem and we are happy with the quality of his work. We had to manage the leak from out of town, so I appreciate that he arrived promptly, phoned to keep me informed of his progress, and provided a detailed receipt. The next day I was emailed a computerized receipt which was clear and easy to submit to insurance.
Description of Work: Our tenant discovered leak from an unknown source. The plumber replaced both washing machine hoses and the packing nut on the gray box valve. He also checked inside the wall to confirm that he has isolated the leak. While he was there, he rodded the bathroom drains and replaced a worn toilet fill valve.

As with my previous four experiences with Power Plumbing, everything was excellent. From start to finish they were prompt, courteous, and forthright in their explanations. From the estimate, scheduling the repair, and the two days of repairs, they treated me as a valued customer. I have had regular and emergency work done by them and each time they have been this great. It is priceless to me to have a reliable plumbing service to call to take care of my home. I highly recommend this company to anyone who needs plumbing repair work done.

We have had water in our basement from time to time over the last year, but this time it appeared to continue to seep in over a few days. We were quite worried. So, my husband called Power Plumbing and they came out the next day. They inspected our plumbing system and put a camera down there to see what was going on. We had tree roots in our piping in a couple of places and an active catch basin (that we didn't know we had) that was full. They came back out the next day to rout the pipes and clean the catch basin. Gratefully, we have had no problems since! I believe the catch basin cleaning was done by another company that Power Plumbing subcontracts with and this was billed to us by Power Plumbing, but separately from the other work they did.

I called them to do what seemed to be a simple dishwasher hook-up. Little did I know (or them for that matter), that we had to deal with some not-very-bright maintenance in the high rise building where the work was being done. The plumber even had to come out twice because of them ? but he was totally flexible and willing to work under subpar circumstances dictated by the condo association by-laws. He was even willing to call condo maintenance for me to discuss directly with them what needed to be done and how it was going to get done (i.e. an entire building water shut-off vs. not). In the end, he had to compromise his standards to get my job done based on their rules ? but he got the job done and did his absolute best to spite the situation.
Description of Work: It started as a simple dishwasher hookup and in the end became a hookup of the whole sink underneath (but that's because it was a disaster under there, not the plumber's fault). He hooked up the dishwasher according to the "strict" rules of the condo association, reattached all of the plumbing under the sink which had been dismantled, redid the seal on the drain because the previous people had done it wrong. Checked everything thoroughly to make sure it all worked and didn't leak.

We had seepage in our basement this Spring from multiple new foundation cracks. We had several contractors out to inspect and estimate work needed. One plumber camera'd our sump ejector drain pipe, and said it was leaking outside the foundation wall, and that we needed to dig out an area outside our foundation wall to repair it. We got another estimate to do the repair work from Power Plumbing, and hired them to do the repair because their estimate was a bit lower. They did not camera the pipe first, to determine that the work was really necessary. After digging for a few hours, they determined that there was no leak at all. When I asked how much they were willing to reduce their bill, since they didn't actually do the repair the estimate was for, Patrick, their representative, offered to take $200 off the original $2500 estimate. I was shocked, $2300 to dig a hole. I admit, they did camera the pipes AFTER they dug the hole, to expose any other potential problems. And they did try to apply some hydraulic cement to the outside of the foundation where there was a crack. And they did install a cap on a clean-out pipe which was missing a cap. But the price seemed WAY excessive. I guess Power Plumbing charges plumber's hourly rates ($261-297 per hour for 2 men) apply no matter if they are digging holes or repairing pipes. But they only spent about 6 hours working (not counting lunch break, etc), so they even overcharged on the hourly rate. If they would hire manual laborers to do the digging part, they could save customers a lot of money. But obviously this wouldn't be very profitable for them. They were supposed to come back and give us an additional estimate to dig through the concrete floor in our finished basement to inspect and possibly replace the drain tile, but even after 2 calls they never returned my calls to provide another estimate after I paid their expensive first bill. Just as well, because after speaking to a couple of other flood control/sewer experts, I am convinced I was overcharged by Power Plumbing given the situation, and I will never use them again.
Description of Work: Dug a hole near foundation to examine pipe that was suspected of leaking. The original work they estimated was not necessary.

Very courteous office staff and job site plumbers. Very responsive. Prompt scheduling. Up front on costs over phone. Expensive, but competitive for area. Very neat and clean installation. We needed a lot of plumbing work done in order to prep for a kitchen redo. As part of the estimate, Power Plumbing provided a detailed description of the work that was to be performed. The workers were on time each day, and were efficient in their work. Each day they made sure the water was on before they left so that we could do laundry, dishes, shower, etc.

Our sump pump died at 10:30 pm. and our back-up had not yet been installed. We called Power Plumbing and they said a plumber could be here in 30-40 minutes. We bailed water to keep the cistern from overflowing in the meantime. Louis arrived in about 50 minutes and determined that the pump was indeed gone and set about replacing it. He told us the price of the pump beforehand and quickly got to work. He tested the system once the new pump was installed and cleared away the debris. Materials cost $240, OT labor was $418.50 (after 10% discount)
Description of Work: The plumber replaced the sump pump and check valve and connected the pump to the discharge pipe. He tested the new pump to make sure everything worked properly.

Description of Work: We have two 40 gallon water heaters--about 10+ years old each. One was leaking and we knew we had to replace it. Over the phone, Rae talked us through several different options, then gave us the best price based on our decision. She took the call at 8 pm and by 8 am the next day, her crew was out doing the job. They completed it in about 2 hours an d were very professional and friendly--and cleaned up afterwards.

I do like and recommend this company just providing this feedback for their use which I already expressed directly to the plumber.
Description of Work: I called them as I knew I had 2 toilets that were constantly running and my water bills supported this. One toilet just needed some parts replacement. The other was a model that the plumber shared was not one of their favorites as it was one that usually had problems. When he quoted the price to fix it, I decided to replace it. This is where I think the company could have been a little more involved in helping me decide on which model to replace the old toilet with. They referred me to the brand Toto. I went on the website, picked a model I liked and gave them the information to order it. Ultimately, the model was not well suited to the layout of the bathroom and would have required drilling into floor tiles and likely would have caused the toilet to be unstable. So, I had to change the model, pay a restocking fee and additional hourly service charges for travel back and forth to get the new toilet...not to mention the time spent trying to install the first model. I know nothing about toilets and the installation considerations and feel it would have been logical for the plumber to advise me on what was important to consider before choosing a model including the measurements. In final, I paid $800 for the new toilet with service fees. They did concede a couple of other charges to help defray the cost but in the final analysis, repairing the older toilet would have been less expensive. I do like the new toilet though, :-)

After checking Angie's List reports, I called Power Plumbing to get an estimate on installing a new water heater. I talked with Claudia, who was very helpful, pleasant, and professional. After getting the details on my current water heater, she gave me a price range of approximately $1,700 to $2,200 for installing a new Bradford White, depending on what was involved in the job. I then got estimates from a couple of other companies before I made a decision; one company's estimate was about $50 lower than Power's and the other was $250 higher. However, Claudia and Dave (who also anwered some questions for me) had made such a good impression that I called to schedule the job and was delighted that it could be done the next day. Claudia called me the next morning to let me know when the installers would be coming. Louis and Bob were there right on time, got to work immediately, and finished sooner than expected. They left everything cleaned up and the old unit out in the alley. They did such a good job that the final price ended up being lower than the lowest estimate.
Description of Work: Removed a 23-year-old, 75-gallon water heater that was leaking and not producing any hot water, and replaced it with a new 75-gallon Bradford White unit.
