Jerger Window Fashions of Chicago

We purchased all our window treatments from Jerger seven years ago. In preparation for having our rooms painted, we asked Jerger to remove our drapes in three rooms, get them cleaned, and re-hang them for us. We also needed a room darkening shade for our guest bedroom. Chuck arranged to come a few days before we were moving out for the painting, and we consulted him about horizontal tears 2 or 3 inches wide near the center edge of one of the silk draperies. He told us it was damage from sunlight. He also suggested that they could figure out a way to remove the damaged strip of the cloth and adjust the draperies so that we would not need to purchase new ones. The cleaned draperies were re-hung for us in about three weeks. The new shade took a little longer, and the altered draperies came back in about six weeks. All of them look like new! One would never guess that one of the drapes had been damaged, and we greatly appreciated not having to replace those. Although Chuck had warned that some shrinkage might occur as a result of the clearning, we didn't notice any. Chuck and his assistant were always prompt, pleasant, and helpful. The only disadvantage was the unpleasant dry cleaning odor that remained on all the drapes for a month or more. It was particularly offensive in the bedroom. Keeping the draperies closed and bringing in outside air seemed to help. "Green cleaners" would be a definite asset to this company.

Went in to their show room to look at some samples. Talked to Chuck and set up an appointment for him to come out to measure the windows. After the measurements where taking it to three weeks for the shades to come in. Install went by in a flash. I am so happy with the shades. Very good customer service. Great prices and fast install. Would use again.

We chose Jerger over a more expensive alternative. We ordered them on July 26 and they were due September 20. We were pleased that they arrived earlier, on September 2. The installers were excellent. The windows look wonderful (see attached photos). One small thing: that they did not seem to be installed as close to the windows as we wanted in order to minimize blocking the view when drawn.

This was a very easy process and I am thrilled with the result. Marvin came with fabric samples and was helpful in making choices, offering his opinions, and talking through different options. The drapes came in probably about 3-4 weeks sooner than estimated, which was a very welcome surprise. Installation was quick and a pleasure - it went smoothly and they were friendly and professional. I love the end result - the drapes are gorgeous and a very high quality. Very happy with this choice and would definitely hire them again.

I was unprepared for the poor service I received - prior reviews seemed to rate this company more favorably than my experience. After placing my deposit at the end of April, I heard nothing about scheduling the installation. At the end of May I called the company who seemed unaware of any problem - my order was not on their radar - and customer service punted my call to the sales person. Eventually the original sales person contacted me full of apologies that he was unaware of the delay, and reassured me that he would stay on top of things and gave me another date of delivery promised by the manufacturer. Well - sadly, that date came and went, and I had to call again, same treatment - Customer service would not handle my inquiry, punted to sales person, who apologizes again, promised another date and to stay on top of the order. Eventually the product arrived. The installation was fine. My experience with sales and customer service was poor - Example - I never received a written proposal or an invoice until July - after repeatedly asking for one. The response was "our policy is to always give the customer a written estimate" - yet they didn't seem to hear me when I said - although that may be your policy, this customer has not received anything in writing. The first written document I received was in July - and it took multiple phone calls and emails, and the 'threat' of with-holding final payment until I received something in writing. The minimum 5% angies discount was applied.

Overall, we're happy with the results of what we ordered and their service. You have to stay on them after you place the order to confirm installation dates because, in our case, there was a lot of confusion between the guy who takes the order and the guy who installs the product. It's a family owned business and it has good reviews which is why we hired them in the first place.

Marvin did a wonderful job making a bedspread, bedskirt and pillows for me - very high quality and beautifully finished. We also ordered wooden blinds - the first time one of the windows was mismeasured, so that doubled the time to installation (more than 8+ weeks). The quality is very good, however, and the company was great to work with.

She was born a month early and we were not quite ready but they came out and took care of it right away.

It went quite well. We went to their store. Marvin explained to us our options and later came-out and measured the windows. A short time later Chuck and Glen installed the blinds. They were very efficient and took great pains to see that everything was clean and complete. We have had many compliments on the blinds.

When I had to replace the door, with the economy my income has been cut in half, I thought I would save some money and go somewhere else. Three times the doors came in from the other company and three times they were unacceptable. I called Jerger's and they had a great door installed within three weeks. You get what you pay for. I am so happy and they are great people.

From start to finish the Jaeger folks were reponsive, knowledgeable, and very professional. I received a phone call within 48 hours of my initial inquiry via E-mail. An in home estiamte (no charge) was arranged and completed within one week of initial contact. Once the curtains were made, Jaeger held on to them so I could have the dining room painted prior to installation. An installation appointment was made within one week of painting completion. The installation and rod repairs were competed in about 21/2 hours. It was obvious that Chuck and his assistant installer (he politely introduced himself to me but can't remember his name) knew exactly what they were doing. I was very pleased with the finished product and the professionalism of the Jaeger owners and staff.

The installation guys Chuck(?) and his assistant were very professional, on time, and cleaned up after themselves. Marvin, who came out for our initial quote and made the deal has an excellent memory (remembered our window sizes and decorating styles 3 months after the initial quote) and is very patient with us, first time homeowners who couldn't make up our minds. We definitely recommend them.

The experience was great. Efficient. On time. Professional. Window treatments have made a big difference this winter. Would highly recommend Jerger.

From the time Chuck first came to the house to show us samples, everything went smoothly. Window treatments were ordered and arrived in a timely manner. Installation went well and directions to operate new window treatments were explained to us in detail. Chuck and his partner were pleasant and accommodating. We would most definitely use them again and will recommend Jerger's to others.

I have used Jerger since I bought my home 10 years ago. I am a disaster in trying to measure and buy curtains and it was such a relief to find this wonderful family-owned businesss to take care of these chores. I love all the curtains/blindsI have purchased from them over the years and now I use them to have them all cleaned. They pick them up/clean and reinstall and hang them beautifully. I would guess you could find places that charge less but I doubt you would find the quality anywhere else and I know you couldn't find nicer people.

Everything went perfectly. The measurements were exact and the implementation was smooth. I would highly recommend this company. They were extemely helpful, punctual and responsive. Their quality is excellent.

My Bedroom Hunter/Douglass Duet Cellular Blind.had a broken string and could only operate by pulling on the operating cord and supporting the weight of the blind with my free hand at the same time. Jerger completely replaced all the strings for a very reasonable cost (approx. half of others).

Initially I felt good about the company and the representative came out and was helpful selecting window treatments, but the experience went downhill from there. The shades for the bedroom arrived quickly but, despite having the windows measured on two different occasions, the sizing was wrong and only one guest bedroom was installed. Then I had to wait for several more weeks for the new ones to arrive only to have another problem with the bedroom shades - forcing me to wait another week and a half. Overall, I had to wait two months to have the project completed and Marvin, the company representative, did not even offer to provide me with a discount for my trouble. I doubt I would ever use this company again.

Great. I couldn't believe how inexpensive this was or how quick they could repair the issue. I called to describe my problem, and they told me to bring in the shades. It was a monday and they told me the blinds would be ready on wednesday. Expecting the worst, I said, a week from wednesday, and they said, no, 'wednesday'. I then was having trouble getting the shades down, and they offered to come and do it for me (which was not necessary as they walked me through it). Best - they were ready the next day! A great option to spending thousands on new window treatments.

Firm completed work on time and on budget. The installers were fast and clean.

I called Jerger's because of all the great reviews it has on the List. I spoke with Marvin and asked for an estimate on vertical blinds for our sliding door and a top down accordion shade for the window. I gave the measurements of both the window and the door, and I was very specific about the type of product we were interested in. I also explained that I needed an estimate before we set up an appointment with them because I knew they installed only Hunter Douglas (top of the line) products, and I wanted to make sure they were within our budget for the project. He gave me an estimate of $500, so I booked an appointment. My husband stayed home from work in order to meet with Marvin. They discussed vertical blinds and an accordion shade - exactly the same products I had discussed with Marvin over the phone - only Marvin told him the project would cost over $1,000. My husband asked whether these were the least expensive options Marvin had available, and Marvin told him that they were. My husband did not order any products, and Marvin left. I called Marvin to ask why the project had doubled in cost. He told me that he had quoted me a price on vinyl vertical blinds, but the ones my husband had selected were fabric covered and therefore more expensive. This accounted for an increase of at most around $200, so I asked what accounted for the rest of the increase. Marvin said that I should have known that there would be tax and installation charges, and that I also should have known that those weren't included in the $500 quote he originally gave me. Although I'd lost pretty much all faith in the company by this point, I asked them to split the difference and do the project for $750 just to avoid starting over from scratch with another company (more phone calls, another day off work, etc.). They wouldn't do it. Marvin offered me a 10% discount - the same one all Angie's List users get with the coupon available on the site. Or he said we could get another estimate and, if it was lower than theirs, they would give us 5% off that price. As if we would make another appointment, waste another contractor's time, and then ultimately give the business to this company that has treated us so poorly. I called this company with measurements, firm ideas about the products we wanted, and asked for an estimate. I explained that we had a budget and did not want to waste our time and theirs. Nevertheless, I got a lowball estimate that the company refused to honor. Unless you want to waste your time or your money, try one of the other highly rated companies on the list. I wish we had.

It went very smoothly. We had no problems that were not addressed immediately. Their staff were conscientious about our property, making sure to carefully move what needed to be moved and cleaning up after themselves in a meticulous manner.

I hired them twice over this year. We had a minor bump or two in service but they quickly recovered and met my satisfaction. The second time I hired them it was seamless. My blinds look and work well. They are a company that understands they are working with a premium product and must give superior service.
