My condo building used this vendor several years ago to remove limestone caps from parapets to install flashing and weep cords, to caulk cracks in masonry and to apply waterproofing to all of the walls. With the heavy rains, I experienced water leakage on part of my celing. I contacted Greg and he came out within 2 days to take a look and he suspected some additional cracks had developed. He sent Jake and his crew out the following week to confirm this and they immediate fixed the cracks and reapplied sealant to the entire area. The responsiveness and professionalism of Greg and Jake continue to impress me. I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat.

After checking there reviews here on Angies List I called them for a proposal. Greg responded immediately and came out the next day to check out the job. After getting several bids our Board elected to go with JC & Sons. They proposed a very fair price and provided a written estimate that clearly explained the scope of the work and the materials that would be used in detail. Their proposal was the only one of those we received that included some additional possible issues that could be encountered once the work began and a price of that work should it become necessary. Fortunately there were no additional issues and the job was completed for EXACTLY the price quoted. They took the time to clean the undamaged original brick so they could re-use them and we didn't end up with mismatched brick on the face of the property. The match on the mortar is perfect, they even used the leftover to tuckpoint some minor places on our main building. The work done to tie into the main building looks terrific, probably should have been done that way originally. Very nice work from the guys on the "siding" where it joined the building - they provided a creative and effective method of covering that gap! All debris was hauled away daily and they cleaned up the entire work area once the job was completed. Greg, brother Jake and their crew were all very professional and friendly. Thank you all very much for the great job on the garage repairs!

I found JC & Son on Angie's List. After seeing that they had all A ratings, I emailed them describing the work I needed done and asking for an estimate. Greg contacted me shortly thereafter and set up a time withing 24 hours to look at the job so he could give me an estimate. He spent about 30 min. with me talking about the work and taking measurements. The estimate was emailed to me the next day after he was certain he could get the essential materials. (He was repairing an old window and wanted to be sure he could match the size and pattern of the blocks). We decided to go ahead with the work, based on the timeliness of Greg's response, the ratings on Angie's list, and his professionalism. Greg told us he would need to wait for the weather to warm up before he could do the work, which was fine with us. True to his word, he contacted me when the weather forecast was favorable and the work was scheduled and completed within a few days of that contact. The crew arrived within minutes of when I was told they'd be there. Greg's brother was one of the men working on the job. He was very friendly and very professional, and listened carefully to what I wanted done. He had the essential materials with him so they were able to proceed without delay. They completed the job within a few hours and even hooked up the dryer vent! The work was very well done and the cleaned up after themselves. I would contact them again for small masonry work. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience.

From start to finish this was a very good experience. Shortly after we contacted them, they came out and gave an estimate. We were concerned that they would not be able to match our brick which is very old. After several weeks, they dropped off 6 samples. One was close enough, and we were relieved. They were able to complete the job in two days and did an excellent job.

This was the best contractor experience I have ever had. Responded immediately to myt email inquiry. Arrived on tme to do estimate.Provided a detailed, professional estimate within one day. Price was reasonable. Discussed details clearly, responded directly to my questions. Started and finished on schedule. Cleaned up perfectly. Handled small add-on flawlesly. Truly a perfect job.

J. C. & sons began the job a few days after the job was scheduled. This was because of the extreme heat we are experiencing this summer. We were kept well informed of the process via email and when they could begin the job they did. The job also took a few days longer because of the extreme heat but again we were well informed of this. They were very professional and began work in the morning exactly the time when they told me they would begin and worked a full day stopping only for lunch and a few breaks. They completed the work in a timely fashion even though we experienced extreme heat. At the end of the day they cleaned up the mess as if the job were completed. If it were not for the scaffolding I would have though the job was complete, that is how clean they were. They also contacted our village to make sure we did not need a permit. At the completion of the work they came by and walked us through the job to make sure we were happy. Their work is guaranteed and they told me to contact them any time if we have a problem. Although they are a bit pricey I would highly recommend them. My house looks like a new house.

Greg Cwik came promptly at the scheduled time to assess the needed work and provided an estimate in a few days. The work was done according to specification, on time, and for the amount quoted. The mortar and bricks matched perfectly--no one would ever know that work had been done. The work area was cleaned after the project concluded. Even better, the work was done for about 1/2 of the amount of a competitive bid.

They did a fantastic job We had some cracks on the outside of our house and a hole about 1-2 sq, ft in our basement wall. They matched the outside grate perfectly, They redid a section of our basement wall replacing the bricks repairing it and matched the color paint perfectly, They cleaned up and it looked like a brand new section. They were prompt , polite and hardworking. We will need the rest of the basement walls replaced at some point and we will definitely call them again.

Greg quickly returned my phone call and provided me with an estimate. I signed the agreement and his crew was on site in about a week. They completed the work in 2 days and left everything really neat. This is the second time that I used JC and Son Masonry. Great job!

Greg was great. He and his brother promptly contacted me and set up a time to come over to look at the building for the estimate. I thought their estimate was reasonable and they offered an Angie's List member discount. In addition, they explained all the work and their services well. I also really like the fact that their company is family owned. Unfortunately, my condo association decided to go with another company purely based on cost.

I am very pleased with them. The work went well; but there was a problem that we requested a stainless steel extension and they couldn't locate one, so they put in a galvanized and we said to him that won't work. We read them the contract, so they took it down again and put the right thing on after they were able to locate it with no problem and no charge. They were very good. They did correct the problem with no issues.

We called Greg after receiving another estimate of work to be done. He came out quickly and assessed both chimneys. We had been told that both needed a rebuild. Greg agreed that one needed to be rebuilt and the other just repairs. We were up against a short time frame as our roofers were waiting until the work was done to replace the roof. Greg kept in contact regarding when they could start given the weather and other jobs. They were able to work us into the schedule and got the job done in time for the roofers to do the replacement. Greg's workers were careful with their work which involved carrying buckets of bricks up through our house and into the attic via pull-down stairs. Our yard and our neighbor's were protected during dismantling of the old chimney. They also put down plastic to protect our carpeting and cleaned thoroughly when done.

Excellant workmanship. Did more than what was spelled out in the agreement. (Caulked the mortar joint to prevent water infiltration, even though that was not specified.) Clean, fast, great people. I would definitely use them again.

The work to be done was in Illinois and I was in another state. Greg Cwik was okay with this arrangement. He inspected the property and sent photos of the areas that needed to be addessed along with a quote of how much it would cost. I found the amount to be reasonable and, based on the glowing reviews the firm had received from other Angie's List users, I hired them. The entire arrangement was handled by phone, email and mail. I paid 1/2 up front, with the balance to be paid upon satisfactory completion of the job. When finished, Greg sent photos of the completed work and I mailed him the balance. Of special help was his honest assessment of some of the more serious areas that would necessitate much more work and expense to correct completely, but that with monitoring annually or so, deterioration of the work JC & Son did on those areas could be reinforced. Very satisfied with the experience overall. I have requested that Greg advise when in the future he thinks those problem areas should be inspected.

It went well, overall. Some communication issues at the end of the job caused some delays but that was not a major issue.

They were a pleasure. They were honorable. They completed the job in a timely manner and were very professional. If you hire this company you would be in good hands. They're worth every penny.

I wanted to give my strong praise for JC and Son Masonry. They replaced some renaissance stone above the windows of our three-flat condo building in Lakeview. They did a terrific job of explaining the work, offering different options, and providing a bid at a good price compared to others. Most importantly they made sure that a high quality job was done with appropriate materials. For example, they recommended using real, durable limestone instead of man-made renaissance stone that did not change the price of the bid. In our case they went beyond the call of duty and mortared a loose stone on our staircase and placed caulk in areas that were lacking with the left over materials. The finished product was performed according to code, was well finished, and looked good cosmetically. They are a family operation with superb old world skills and manners. If faced with another masonry job I would definitely go back to JC and Son for their overall excellent service and trust in their work.

I contacted JC in August of 2010 and arranged to have them come out for an estimate. They came out, took notes and pictures of the spalling areas on the garage. The next day, they emailed me their estimate. Due to a family emergency, we were unable to have the work done that year. I contacted the company again in June of 2011 and asked if the estimate was still valid. They came out to inspect the area again and advised me that they would still honor the previous estimate. The crew did a wonderful job. The brick work looks great and matches so well with the rest of the garage. I was really impressed with how profession and well organized this company was. I plan on calling them for all may masonry work in the future.

J.C. & Son Masonry did a wonderful job on our 100+ year old house. The brick foundation of the house had been long neglected. J.C & Son provided brick foundation restoration both internally and externally. They did a great job of restoring the foundation, cleaning and replacing bricks, and providing tuck point to the entire foundation. Staff were professional and thoughtful. I recommend J.C. & Son.

I've used JC & Sons twice now and I like really like working with these guys. Greg and Jake are punctual, and do a great job of communicating the problem and solutions. The price is very reasonable and the quality of work is excellent. They exceeded my expectations on the sidewalk they rebuilt by extending it out and just making the whole area look a lot better. They pay attention to detail and are quality focused instead of just showing up to bang out a job. Last year, I had them do tuckpointing and they rebuilt 2 chimneys, everything is holding up really well. Look no further for you masonry needs folks.

They were very reasonable in price and went way above and beyond. They didn't even charge me any extra for things that popped up along the way.

They came immediately and gave us an estimate. When we scheduled the work, they came when they said and performed the work. They did very good cleanup when they finished.

Greg responded promptly and got me an estimate. I thought it was high initially and asked him to explain it, and I later agreed that it was reasonable. They found hard-to-match brick for our old wall. They showed up on time with enough people to perform the work in a single day. They did good quality work and left the site clean. I would use them again any day. Very pleasant to work with.

He was able to drive by and give me an estimate within 24 hours. He repaired the crack and also filled in some gaps below the side of the stairs.
