Description of Work: The painter was prompt in getting back to me, however it seemed to take longer than necessary to pin him down to a date. | This house was on the market so I wanted this project area to be done as soon as possible which it was not! When the painter came to see the area that needed painting, he remarked that it may take up to 2 days to paint this room! My realtor was present at the time, and he told the person should take less than one day to do this room ! And I concur . |Again, I had to wait over a week before the painter could do the job, I had purchased all the material on the same day he came to check the project out. I do try to be fair and balanced in my reviews! However I have found many of the providers on Angie's list to be not as good as I had expected them to be! |I have for many years, usually taking the time to express appreciation or complaint when I find service in a store to be exceptional or below par.

Description of Work: I called Mr. Ernst before I purchased the painting service. He never called back. I waited a couple of days, then decided to purchase the painting anyway. That should have been a clue when he never returned my calls. After purchasing the Angie's List deal, I called and sent appropriate emails and phone numbers etc. About 3 days later he finally called me back, but only after I called the Angie's List help number. We then set the up appointment for the job. I took a day off from work, prepping the area as best as I could. He never showed for the appointment, no phone calls, no emails, no nothing. Mr. Ernst was unprofessional to say the least. In this day and age of cell phones and text messages, he should have communicated with me that he didn't want the job. I don't know whether he is a good painter or not. However, he needs to work on basic business communication skills. If the job is too far away, simply say that! I live in Joliet, IL, about 42 miles south of Chicago's loop area. I noticed many of the Angie's list vendors work closer to the city. That is fine, but again, communicate that to the purchaser if you are unwilling/unable to drive into the south suburbs. I just called another vendor to inquire whether he is willing to drive to Joliet. Again, he hasn't bother calling me back. At least I know not to purchase his service. I'm disappointed with vendors who say they want the job, but then don't bother calling back, especially if they are busy with other jobs.

Description of Work: Oscar did a very good job on painting the trim with the paint I supplied. It did take the full 8 hours. I would use this service again.

Description of Work: Edgar painted the trim in my kitchen area. He painted two six foot long windows, a 3-1/2 foot window, and a large nine foot window, plus a french door and its trim. He did a good job. My only complaint was that I was not getting any response for about two weeks from the owner and I thought I was screwed. finally when I reached him by phone, we set up the job immediately the next day. I didn't want to take any chances. All in all, it turned out well.

Description of Work: Painted baseboards and trim in living room and hallway. The coupon was for all day painting any room. Because the preparation was time consuming, but well done, only living room and hallway was focused. Also I was going from a dark wood to white so it had to be primed. He did complete all the priming but only one wall of painting. I did want the doors and the downstairs family room done as well, but the work he did took the whole day. Mr Ernst did inform me the painter would be late, he arrived about 40 min from scheduled time, but I don't think that would have mattered with completing all of what I wanted done. He was very professional and worked continually but I would only recommend if there were two. I now have to complete the painting myself adding to the other 50 things I already have to do. At least I don't have to do any taping.

Description of Work: Bill's crew performed a variety of projects. In my family room, they refinished my oak wainscoting & repainted the walls. My powder room received a fresh coat of paint, and four exterior doors were either stained or painted. All work was done to perfection. The crew was a pleasure to have in my home.

Description of Work: This provider failed to show up on the date designated for the work after |promising to be there. He admitted to a mixup on his dates but I was limited |time wise and had to use some one else. I have repeatedly requested of Mr. |Ernst that he return my $279 upfront fee to no avail. I am still waiting for |the return as of this date. Obviously, not satisfied.

Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's list deal for 7 hours of painting to be used on our finished basement (approx 1500 sq ft.). I new this wouldn't go very far given that walls, ceiling baseboards, and trim needed a freshen-up from the original paint 10 years ago. Bill's crew repaired the nail pops in the ceiling, corner beads and all nail holes from wall hangings and then painted all baseboards and trim, taped off and then painted the ceilings and the walls in about 3 days total. Then put plastic over everything and the floors and cleaned up after themselves. Great job.
