Budget Right Kitchens LTD., DBA Budget Right Handyman

I thought it turned out okay. The only thing I was dissatisfied about was the way they were charging me. It was more than I thought it was going to be. One time, they sent two people who went out to the store for 2 hours during their visit, and I was charged for that. The store was also only a short way away. Other than that, the work turned out good.

I located Budget Right Handyman through Angies's list. I searched under the category of garage repair. I spoke with Matt at Budget and explained that the weatherstripping and the wood that it was attached to on my garage door needed replacement. He said that they could fix it and that he would send someone out. Rumis came on June 25, and gave me an estimate. Rumis arrived at my house 1/2 hour late on July 14, 2014. He worked on the project and replaced the weatherstripping. I paid him a check for $294.00 for labor and an additional $32.88 for materials. After he left, the bracket on the right as you are facing the door fell off. This bracket holds the sensor that opens and closes the door. The garage door after he left closed jerkily. I noticed that the frame that the rollers go up and down on to open or close the door was bent. At the place where it was bent the door started to jerk up and down and then finally close. This faulty closure was not a problem before he worked on the door. I called Budget Right Handyman and spoke to Tim, the manager who agreed that the problem of the detached brackets and jerky closure needed to be fixed. He said that Budget Right Handyman workmanship is guaranteed for a year and that he would send Rumis back out on 7/25/14 to fix it. Rumis came out on 7/25/14. He arrived on time at 8 am. He reattached the brackets, but would not address the problem of the dent in the frame. He talked with Tim about this and they said that the entire door should have been replaced. My husband pointed out to Rumis that this should have been stated in the original estimate and was not. This was the first time that entire door replacement was brought up by Rumis. Rumis left after that. Budget Right Handyman damaged the opening and closure of my garage door while putting in weatherstripping. They will not fix the damaged opening/closure mechanism on the garage door. Tim refused to refund any of the payment I remitted to Budget Right Handyman. This is an unresolved and unsatisfactory matter. My husband and I are seeking support from Angies List to resolve this problem. r

Pete arrived on time, inspected the situation, determined the best fix and communicated all of that with me. He was able to complete both jobs with time to spare and provided me with details on how to fix other jobs around the house.

Handyman arrived about an hour late (8:55 for an 8:00 appointment) due to accident on expressway. He did call and we understood, not a problem. Basically, the request was for spackling or plastering under a window in dining room wall approximately 12"by 18". Handyman said he did not feel comfortable doing that job as he felt it would recur within a very short period of time. We indicated that we didn't care as we were having company. Again he reiterated that he wasn't comfortable doing this and that he didn't have enough spackle or plaster in his truck. We suggested another area where he might be able to tape a crack, again he didn't feel comfortable (or did not have enough of the appropriate product with him?). We surmised that he probably had another "more important" appointment and since he was running an 1 1/2 hours late at his point, perhaps, just wanted to leave. We had been told by Budget Handyman that their handymen carried a supply necessary to do most "handyman" jobs. At that point we mentioned obtaining a refund. He suggested calling Angie's List for a refund.

The original person assigned to me had a personal emergency (wife went into premature labor) and they had to put a different person on the job. This moved my time from 11 am to later in the afternoon, but the communication from the company was good. Rich arrived and reviewed my list of issues. He had to go to Home Depot for some parts but was ultimately able to complete everything within the two hour window. He was professional and courteous and took care of all my repairs -- except for an issues with my gas range that needs more specialized attention. I would use Budget Right Handyman again.

They sent out Aaron to do some work on my rental unit. I had to wait a week and a half because they were that booked, and was that much more disappointing when I had to wait that long, and the work ended up not being done. two fixtures needed to be installed, quarter round in the kitchen that I had just put down vinyl peel-and-stick tile, and then that same tile to be installed in the laundry room on a floor I had just leveled. Some bathroom towel racks to be mounted as well. I opened the door and introduced myself. After a full moment, he introduced himself as Aaron. I showed him the fixtures to be hung, the bathroom stuff, and problems arose when we came to the kitchen. Having leveled the floor, the washer/dryer were in the kitchen. Aaron said that he would have to work around this huge obstacle, that it would take so much time due to working around obstacles. He asked if I wanted my new floor scratched, with him moving things. And, that he had to go all the way to the hardware store to buy the quarter round, that it would come out of my time. I understand that, but having a washer/dryer in the middle of the room, where quarter round is not going to be installed, and asking if I want my floors scratched, was not appreciated. He obviously did not want to do it. That was okay. I showed him the laundry room, with the newly leveled floor, needing peel and stick tile put on it. There were bumps in the floor from the leveler. He said, flat out, he can't do it. He said he has to guarantee it for a year, and he won't do it, because of the bumps. And, it would take 6 hours to do it, the room being square, no obstacles, and being 5 feet by 10 feet. 6 hours! He said it needed to be sanded, and made it a point that he was not going to do it. I grew exasperated, as there was something he couldn't do, because of one thing or another. I said he can't tile, he can't put down quarter round, that means theres no work for him to do. he was very happy with that answer, and flew out of there. I sanded the floor myself, and tiled it, and installed quarter round. For sanding and tiling, it took me, a novice, a total of 4 hours. I'm glad i saved the cash and did it myself.

Bob Cordes is a very capable Handyman. took the time to analyze the job and plan out what he needed to do. Completed his work in the time allotted and left the area clean and orderly. Job was done well.

Did job as requested, however didn't do a perfect job on installing the faucet.

Called me the day after I'd put in the request and was able to come out the next day. Nick was on time and very pleasant.

Took longer than expected, but it was quality work.

It went fine. no issues. Quick repair.

Aeron is great and I'd definitely hire him again. He is competent, professional, trustworthy and helpful in offering his candid opinions. Today's work ended up taking less time than was initially projected, which was nice.

It went fine for what I can remember.

I purchased 2 hours of service for $98 thru an Angie's List deal. I left a message to contact me re: scheduling and what I was in need of help with. Matt called me back right away. In fact, the scheduled me for the very next day! Aeron was the service tech that came out. He is wonderful! He arrived 1/2 hour early which I really appreciated. I showed him what I wanted which was a rain gutter on the side of my garage. He measured everything and went to Home Depot and Menards to purchase the materials for me. However, I want black gutter material and we found out that color would be special order as no one carries black gutter materials anymore. Since I already booked and paid for the time, Aeron asked if there was other work I needed to have done around the house. Do I??!! Where should I start?! So he hung up blinds in 2 bedrooms and a wall mounted reading lamp in my son's room. He provided me with a list of all the materials I would need to complete the gutter project so I can order what I need online. When the materials come in I am definitely booking Aeron for the job! I also looking to have my bathroom gutted and Aeron let me know that their company can also perform big scale jobs like that. I called Dirk with Budget Right and scheduled time for an estimate on that project now too! Aeron was puntual, professional, very laid back, and never once was pushy about any of my requests. He even didn't mind my cat Lucy hanging with him the entire time. I am so happy! I definitely would recommend Aeron to anyone who needs help around the house! He arrived on time, was professional and cleaned up after he was finished.

They were fabulous and great. It was very easy to get an appointment.They took a lot of information over the phone so that when the person came out he could get right to work. He was very thorough. He educated me on a lot of things. He was very experienced. He really did an exceptional job. I would use them again in a heartbeat. They were very, very good.

A is for Awesome! I have been a customer of this company for some time, and I have always been impressed by the guys who have worked on my projects, but Steve is fantastic! He really knows his stuff and does beautiful work. He loves what he does and shares his knowledge readily, which saved me $$. He turned an ugly old basement into an attractive finished space, working quickly and cleanly. And he has a great personality too! Right on, Budget Right! Thanks for superman Steve!

I write this review as I'm suprised by all the positive reviews of this service. Maybe they are just have more jobs now or I got a bad handyman. Anyway Rumis showed up 15 minutes to the house but he did call saying he was driving around for parking, although there did seem to be open spots on the street. Anyway, he came up with no tools and we discussed what need to be done. Then he went down to get tools so about 25 minutes in he start work. The main thing I request to fix was to replace the faucet. He spend 20 minutes trying to get the faucet off. Then said he could not because it was stripped. Then he spend 10 minutes puting it back. He said it was fine, then I pointed out the whole faucet now move when turning he realized it wasn't fixed. Then spent another 15 minute tighting it back. So 45 minutes worth of work to get back to the same broked faucet I started with. Next I had him put back on two light fixtures on the wall that I had take of to make space for book shelf. Anyway he installed them but the each light was not staying in place. I asked him if there were bolts behind the fixture to tighten. He said no which I found crazy to I took them off again and show him there were bolts then he tighted them. Strike two. He did install a dimmer switch which seemed to go fine and works fine. So one positive thing out of four. Finally he caulked the tube. First he did not scrape out the old caulk which I should have inspect but I assume he would do that. Anyway, he did not use mildew resistant silicone caulk. So a week later I had mildew an pealing caulk and need to spend an hour redoing the work. Finalily he charged me for a full 3 hours, even though he did not start until 1:15 and ended at 2:45. He said I was not his fault he could not find parking or that he could not replace the faucet. He said if I had 15 minute of work he would do it. I asked him to sand some holes in the wall and he said he didn't have sand paper?? Of course not. Anyway, just take some of the review with a grain of salt and stand over these guys. I'm sure some are good, this guy was not.

I had him do some caulking, wall patching - just odds and ends around the house. It was a good experience. They were very honest about what they were able to do and not do. We were very happy with them.

First time using this company. I just got the impression that this company will do the bare minimum. And if that's all you want, I think their prices are fair. But know what you're getting into. I like using Angie's List suppliers because they usually go the extra mile. But don't expect that with this group. I had asked that they come out and look at the job first and then give me an estimate but was told that they don't do that because they have a limited number of people and they are scattered throughout the area. I want to sell my place and had a list of items from a home inspection that I wanted to deal with right away, so I agreed to this although I don't like doing business that way. The worker came out and we went over the work to be done. Since I had extra cans of the paint in storage, we pulled those cans out and placed them to the side. Later found out we didn't have enough of one of the colors, so I would suggest you have them check the amount of paint BEFORE they start work. The worker gave me an estimate for the job and then left to buy the supplies he needed from a local Home Depot. Returned promptly and began work. No problems on installing the GFCI, cutting holes into the doors to add the vents (grates) to the furnace door and the laundry room door. The patches on the screens looked pretty tacky and I realized I was thinking he would replace the screen not just put patches over the holes, but I blame myself for poor communication on that one. I asked about the toliet (where the fill line outside the toliet was wet to the touch). He said it probably just needed tightening and did that. He then looked at the ceiling and stairway wall that needed repair (cracked). He told me that my stairway wall he could not do because the paint had dried out within the can. I offered to go to Home Depot to get a new can made, but he said we were almost finished the job and he didn't want to wait. Keep in mind that we started at 8:15 and finished everything at 12:45 PM, so this wasn't even a full day and he could have been doing other work while I got the missing paint. So instead he moved on to the next crack and even though he patched it you could still see the crack. No sanding. So I pointed out the crack again and was told "Well, whatever you do it's not going to be perfect. I could cover it with mud (plaster) but it will have to dry, so I won't be able to paint it. I told him to cover it with the "mud". He did a little sanding, applied the mud and then painted over one other small nick in the wall. I paid him and he left. I went upstairs and took another look at the toliet. The fill line was clearly still wet, so I called him back. He told me what might need to be done, but didn't offer to come back to fix it. I guess I would understand if you had been working from 9 to 5, but when he left I still had visible cracks in my ceiling and stairway (which I'm going to have to pay someone else to sand and paint) and I had to pay another handyman (from a different company) to fix that toliet (which ended up needing both a new supply line and to replace the float inside the toliet that controls the water level). I don't think I'd use these guys again. There are handymen on Angie's list who are more committed to doing an excellent job vs. just giving you a cheap price.

Couldn't have been better. While primer on gate was drying Bob completed the other jobs. Bob was in touch about traffic problems delaying precise on time arrival, pleasant, knowledgeable, and efficient. The work he did was excellent. All within the 2-hr window. Highly recommended!

I hired him to fix some shelving in my closet, but he ended up doing some other odd jobs around the house. Aaron was fabulous! Everything went very well and I will hire him again.

Steve was in and out in four hours and everything was completed on out punch list:)
