Barry took zero notes, took no photos, gave an estimate off the top of his head and refused to provide a written estimate with details of the repairs he suggested. He was completely unprofessional and we would never consider working with someone like that for any job, big or small.

0I have a 2 flat in the city that I rent out. With 3 small kids at home, it's hard for me to get away to assess issues with tenants. I found these guys through Angie's List. They were super responsive and fit me in right away. They called me to discuss the problem and fixed it right away.

Great experience - extremely responsive. I had a team at my house within 20 minutes of calling to explain the problem. Problem solved less than 2 hours later and I was able to pay over the phone with a card. All of this while I was stuck at work.

It was a great work product. They were always available when I communicated with them. The only downside was that there seemed to be a lack of communication between the head guy and his actual crew. He didn't know what they were doing. It wasn't a big deal. There was a lack of communication on their status but their work product was great.

They fixed my hot water heater, but soon after I began to have problems with it again. They came back out and took care of the problem, and I am satisfied with their service.

These guys are expensive, but they do a really good job. (It costs 55 dollars for just regular around the house shoveling and over a hundred to do about 15 feet of alleyway. The only complaint I have is that they don't often come early enough in the morning to make sure that my garage is cleared before I leave for work. When I asked about this, they said they could not guarantee that timing and, in fact, have never managed to hit my house before I left.

Overall we are happy with Bucktown Home Maintenance. They did the work quickly and cleaned up well. The quality of the work was good, but not great. The putty was not completely smooth and they missed two screws (one was covered by trim and the other is hidden). We normally get a friend to help us with drywall work, but he was unavailable for this project. Our friend is a perfectionist so the bar is set high for us. Most people would not notice the imperfections in the putty work.

Because of the Angie's list coupon, the $35.00 trip charge was discounted.I called at 8:05 am and the workers were there at about 10:15 for an emergency plumbing repair. They had to go get parts, and their trip was VERY quick. They were punctual, clean, and did good work. Barry may not physically be in the office at 8 am, but I guess he starts working on getting his crew at the property right away. I honestly don't know how the price compares to others, but I sense that it is very reasonable.

Bucktown Home Maintenance showed up on time, worked extremely hard, and finished the job in satisfactory amount of time. I had them install a ceiling fan which required them to fix the ceiling in order to mount the fan properly. They exceeded expectations installing the fan and fixed some electrical outlets while waiting for durabond to dry. Overall I was pleased with the level of service.

they chalked the restroom. They did only part of the master shower. They took the hot water heater apart. They got it started. As soon as they left it went out. call barry the next day to asked him to send his guys back out. He told me that his guys mention that i need a new hot water heatter. He said the bottom of my heater was rusted. I brought my condo in aug 2009. Spent a year in afganistan. why do i need a new one so soon. this guys charge me 350 cash no receipt given to me. Call Barry and email him a receipt from pluming company that did the job with no problem. He was to email and send me partial refund. It has been two weeks nothing from him.

I really like this company for two reasons: 1) they work weekends, which is huge so I don't have to take a day off of work, and 2) they'll skip the initial visit if you just need a list of relatively minor work done. It's great to have two competent guys show up in a well equipped truck to tackle what you need done.

He was very professional. He came out and gave me an estimate on how much to repair the cracks in the walls, as well as the caulking and paint. He gave me a decent price at $675. He knew exactly what he was talking about. I was impressed with him. In his estimate he provided price, time, people, as well as a thorough list of what needed to be done to complete my porch project. He was very helpful and not condescending in explaining the work that needed to be completed.

I had Barry's team help me out with a roof leak last winter. There was a leak in my bedroom and Bucktown came out the next day to take a look. I had several inches of ice on my roof, so the team couldn't do anything immediately. They salted the roof and all of the ice melted in a day or so. They came back and found there was a crack in the roof about 2 feet wide, and they patched it with a large piece of rubber. I had used them to install a ceiling fan before as well, and they were great then also.

They did a very good job. I have no complaints. They were there when they said they would be. They had very reasonable rates.

It did not go well. I've used Barry in the past and was skeptical about the quality the first time around. I understand that I'm paying for handyman services and not something else, but I should have just done this work myself, as a child could have been more careful. The person who came to cut out the drywall was very careful to put a plastic tarp down to prevent too much mess, which was greatly appreciated. He also cleaned up very well after the drywall was cut and repaired. The workers were also very nice and cordial. I also appreciated that they took the time to remove their shoes and not track dirt throughout our place. Where the work went wrong was the cutting itself. The worker not only cut out the drywall (as he was asked to do), but he also badly damaged the adjacent crown molding. The worker unnecessarily cut into the crown molding, exposing the wood underneath and leaving a jagged edge on it. When I confronted Barry about it, he sent over his other guy to inspect it, who said they could easily fix it with wood filler and paint. They did try to fix it, but it still was not the same. We recently had the room re-painted, including the crown, and they were able to at least make it look almost like it was. However, the damage remains visible. Barry also went above his original estimate, claiming that he had his guys in there for a long time, longer than originally expected. He also stated that he reduced the costs as a token of good faith. The only reason why they were there longer than expected was because of their own mistakes. I'm calling B.S. on Barry and his work. I'm still p***** about the crown being ruined by the inept worker, but I'd rather just not deal with the company ever again. I found a new handyman to cover projects that I can't do. Please take heed and read this report carefully.

I had a phone conversation with Barry Brandywine, during which he asked me to send a list of the several minor projects that needed work via email. I did so and never heard from him. RUDE!

Overall the service went extremely well. I placed a call to Bucktown Home Maintenance on saturday afternoon, they scheduled me a 9am appointment on Monday morning. The two workers showed up on time, they discussed with me what needed to be done, made some suggestions that I hadn't thought of and then set to work. They worked very quickly, the entire process took about 2 hours. They were extremely clean despite having to cut and drill both wood and plastic. The final product was exactly as I had described, if not better.

Our fence wasn't going to make it another winter. Barry gave us a great quote and performed the work in a timely manner. We now have the best fence in the neighborhood. The interior work was also performed in a workmanlike manner and performed in a timely manner.

Barry answered my call and responded promptly to my concerns. Some others I called had an answering service that didn't even return my call for two days. I told him my projects on the phone an he said he could handle them and requested me to email a copy of the jobs and he would email me back an estimate. I had the email back from him the next day. I made an appointment for his crew to come out (always same guys on his team, no subcontracting) the following weekend. They were professional, courteous, respectful of my home, taking off shoes, cleaning up after and finished the job in a timely fashion even though they had to run out to get some parts. They also taught me some maintenance tips for my drains and left me with enzyme drain cleaned to use in the future. They were great! Three weeks latter my drains are still running better than ever, no more leaks and I can see in my pantry! Barry just left after estimating some new projects for me. I?m very happy with the service, workmanship and price.

They did a good job and they were really great guys. They charged me fair price for everything.

It went very well. The curtain rods had to be secured to a steel deck frame and they had the tools to do that. They are very nice to deal with.

project started as promised. took much longer than expected. very happy with end results. workman accidently broke and antique object and did not report it. Owner was very apologetic and made things right by paying for repairs.

Barry was responsive to calls and requests for a quote. The flooring was our biggest issue, we put down the majority of the floor (about 1350 sq. feet) ourselves with assistance from a family member who had experience. We were forced to leave spaces around exterior doors that leaked, by the time the doors were replaced we did not have the tools to finish the job. We hired bucktown to finish the floors and install the baseboard. We had to remind the workers to miter around some of the door frames but they were always cooperative. It didn't seem like the workers knew how to install a glue down hardwood floor. We came home one evening to huge spaces between the floor boards we had to quickly try to repair before the glue dried. The workers weren't aware the flooring moves when you walk on it with wet glue...also, the floor moves as it was not properly adhered to the concrete subfloor. The poor installation gives the floor a hollow feel when stepped on. Overall, we were very disappointed in the installation of the flooring.

The quality of the work was excellent and was completed in a professional, timely manner.
