Walked in to replace three small glass shelves for a medicine cabinet and walked out 10 minutes later with the shelves, at a great price, plus repairs made to the sample we brought in. While were there the staff was friendly, talkative, kind to our two small girls (and offered them chocolates from her own desk stash), and just delightful. From now on they're our only resource for custom cut glass. Perfect customer service.

+ 0 moreLow prices and good quality replacement glass. However, this is a small family run business that is chaotic and disorganized. I made an appointment over the phone with the owner, to meet with him the following day. When I arrived at the store for my appointment, I learned the owner had already left for the day. While I was waiting for someone else to help me, there was chaos as another customer's window frame was lost, no one could find her paperwork, and no one could find her completed window. In looking around the shop, the customer finally located her own window frame, and they ended up just re-writing her paperwork. I think everyone means well, and the employees generally attempt to be customer friendly -- you simply need a lot of patience with these guys as they clearly do not run a tight ship.
Description of Work: Replaced the double pane glass in one of our vinyl frame windows.

+ -1 moreAshland Glass came to give an estimate and measure the window pane required. They scheduled a time to install the custom pane after it was ready. Unfortunately there was miscommunication with the company that manufactured the glass. It was 1/4" too thin. They offered to install it with extra caulking or to have it remade. They agreed to remake it without charging extra. They took the wood frame with them this time. They returned with the window repair completed after scheduling the return visit. They cleaned up well after each visit considering there was broken glass involved. It was unfortunate that they did not get the window fixed the first time but they did the job right in the end.
Description of Work: Ashland Glass replaced insulated glass in a broken window. Being an old house the window is a non-standard size.

+ -1 moreI was impressed that they continued to work on the problem despite all of the obstacles. I was kept informed of delivery dates and they even came earlier than promised to work on one mirror while they were waiting for another part to arrive, which sped up the process. I paid half on order and half on completion. The price was about 20% higher than other estimates for the same work. In fact, they gave me an estimate for other glass for my kitchen cabinets that was 3 times higher (literally almost exactly 3 times higher--$2,000 vs $725) than the place I ended up using. This made me believe the price was jacked up a bit as a result of the type of house and neighborhood as opposed to the actual cost for the clear glass. At any rate, they were professional, timely, clean, careful, considerate and overall good tradesmen. I would use them again if I felt the price was right.
Description of Work: I ordered a custom frameless shower door (it had to have 3 panels) to replace one that another contractor did not pay for--so it was repossessed! And I ordered 5 special cut mirrors, one with four glass shelves. They measured and installed the shower door, which took a couple of days and some meticulous measuring as, again, the prior contractor put in a crooked wall and lumpy ceiling areas that were too difficult to fix prior to shower door installation. One of the mirrors (with 4 shelves) is above a bar in the basement. The other 4 mirrors were installed in bathrooms--two were relatively small and two were medium sized. The two medium sized mirrors had to have holes cut for the sconces that were placed at the top. The basement mirror also had to have an electrical outlet cut, as did one of the small bathroom mirrors. They did a fantastic job of adjusting for the crooked walls, curves, uneven finishes, etc. They also came back to fix a few minor peculiarities that were bothering me on the triple pane shower door.

+ 0 moreI usually would not even rate a simple part purchase, it’s like rating home depot, but I was angry about the business tactic. I called to see if they had a part I needed for my shower. I had seen it online for less than $15, but because of the weird size, shipping doubled the price from several vendors. When I called, I was told that it would be $25 and that they would cut it down to size (it comes in a standard length). When I walked in to pick it up, he told me $40 and was unwilling to cut it down. I talked myself back into the $25 price and decided to just buy it, rather than find another store, but it has to tell you something that the they quoted two such different prices on such a cheap part. I don't have any comment about their work -- from what I see here (and from what I saw in the store) they seem to do a nice job, but I wouldn't trust a price quote without shopping it around a lot.
Description of Work: I bought a plastic door jamb from them to cover an opening between my shower door and the glass, through which water was escaping. This is a very standard part sold by every specialty glass company.

+ -1 moreIn each case they were prompt in coming out to do an estimate and provided accurate timing on when they would return to complete the installation. Jobs ranged from about $150 to $400. Very satisfied have used them again and will use them if needed in the future.

+ -1 moreWe had some double-hung windows that swung out for easy cleaning. One if the clips broke. I had opened a window, it swung in and the glass broke. I was able to pick the window off the track and take it in to them. They replaced the glass. I dropped it off and it was ready within a couple of hours. So we were without a window for less than a day. It costed us about $200. We will use them again.

+ -1 moreExtremely well. At every step of the way it was smooth and easy. I didn't know anything about the company previously. Called and talked to Sam, the owner (he answered the phone). He was very patient with my many questions, and he offered a fair price for what we wanted. Setting up a time for measuring in our home was easy. Next day one of his reps came out and measured. Punctual and easy to deal with. Install date was set for two days after that. The installers who came were punctual, quick, and friendly. They did excellent work. We are extremely satisfied.

+ -1 moreThey were really great. I needed to get the job done within one day because it was winter and I couldn’t have the windows out for an extended amount of time. They were really wonderful in explaining to me the time frame. When I got it in there later than they needed, they still got it back to me on time. They even explained to me that if I pulled them out myself, I could save a lot of money. Even after breaking one of them, I still came out ahead.

The technician was already out on a call and they weren't sure exactly what time he would be to my place but would call me back to schedule a time once he got back to the shop. They called to let me know when he was on his way. The technician carefully removed the moldings, disposed on the old mirror, cut the new one to fit, reinstalled the moldings and cleaned everything up! Simple and easy and I would use them again.
Description of Work: Ashland Glass replaced an inset mirror in my front hallway closet door. This required removing the molding surrounding the existing mirror, cutting the new mirror to fit and replacing the molding.

They broke one of the panes but they were great about getting it replaced right away. They kept us informed throughout the entire process and they were just excellent for us. If you are going to get glass replaced, they are the place to go to. It was very professionally done. It only took them two days and they were superb. The office manager always had the answers that we needed so it was easy to keep updated. We really can't say enough about them. They answered all of our questions very well and they were very polite and treated us well. They cleaned up the job site inside and outside of our house and we were very happy with them.
Description of Work: They installed two walls of glass for us which included the front wall of the living room and the back wall of the dining room. They replaced 17 panes of glass.

+ -1 moreI called Sam up and he gave me a quote of $65 and told me it would take 2 days to cut the large mirror. I went to to shop to pay and he was not busy, so he cut the mirror in 10 minutes and even better; he only charged me $50!!!! So honest!!!! I would recommend his services to anyone!!!
