Description of Work: They arrived on time and quickly cleaned my chimney. They even went up to the roof to inspect. I was very satisfied with the service and would use them again.

Description of Work: Very punctual for appointment. Chimney and fireplace cleaned - didn't leave any mess. Chimney cracks patched, chimney brick sealed. This is a great company that I will continue to use.

Description of Work: Chimney sweep and inspection including chimney stack and masonry. On time. Did a neat clean job. No mess in the house. External inspection was thorough including photo documentation.

Description of Work: Took the Angie's chimney sweeping "deal" offered, which worked out fine. During their inspection they noticed we needed a capstone and tuckpointing, which we agreed to. We also asked them about our fireplace not completely drafting, and they suggested we extend the height of our chimney (which was already above our roof line per code) as well as add (concrete?) filler inside our chimney to smooth the surface for better aerodynamics. We agreed to all their suggestions. After doing the work they tested for drafting, and we still had smoke "rolling" by our fireplace opening. They said that making a fireplace draft correctly was trial and error, as we were upset that we had just spent $900 extra dollars thinking their suggestions would fix our trouble. They then used some duct tape to decrease the size of our fireplace opening, which seemed to make a difference. They suggested we try buying a smoke guard, something they did not carry. They offered to quote/try some other solutions, which we declined. By coincidence, we got a mail order catalog the next day and noticed they sold a smoke guard for around $50. The catalog description noted that most drafting troubles were due to the fireplace opening being too high. That turned out to be our problem. We felt like we had been "taken" for the $900. We did not call A-1 back, as we had already expressed our discontent to the couple guys they sent to our house - as well as thinking it was our own fault for erroneously assuming the company employees would be experts with drafting troubles and/or choose the most inexpensive thing to try before more costly possible solutions. They also did not return to remove the wooden forms used to make our capstone, we went on the roof and removed them ourselves after a week or more had passed.

Description of Work: Inspected two fireplaces in our home and cleaned the chimney. Also provided detailed photos of problems found on the roof of the house with chimney cap and the furnace vent that need to be addressed.

Description of Work: Estimate 7/27/15 on written job cost says total "job cost $1,330, Time 12-4. Was told by brick mason job cost is high because "it will take all day". |Job performed on 8/17/15 was less than 4 hours long. Receipt of 8/17 says time "all day. Their office called me to pay additional $30 dollars due to "adding error". I told person calling me that the two workers only worked less than a half of day. She continued requesting $30 dollars more which I paid to end conversation. Deal of $149 for $300 worth of masonry is all smoke and job was completed in half the time.

Description of Work: Provided full safety inspection inside house and on roof. He helped me open my flue which was rusted shut. Very honest and hard working young man. I would happily recommend him to anyone.

Description of Work: They did good work, but grossly overcharged for the amount of work done. The price for less than two hours of simple masonry work (patch tuck pointing) by a crew of two people was over $800. I should have known better.

Description of Work: A majority of everything went well, but I felt slightly taken advantage of and was sold a heat shield that (after consulting with other professionals) I don't think I needed. I'm currently not even using it. I also had them price out a burner and some fire glass. They quoted $1400 for the project which would've included paining the box, the burner, and basic fire glass. After doing some research and consulting with two other professionals, I did the project myself for around $300.

Description of Work: They inspected my chimney, checked the fire pit, the chimney and the chimney cap up on the roof. They also cleaned the chimney itself. They were thorough, punctual and cleaned up after themselves.
